The following data covers Regulation Crowdfunding raises between May 16, 2016, and September 30, 2018. Data is sourced from all publicly disclosed Form C filings with the SEC, as well as public websites.

The Wheel of Time turns, and ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend and data that becomes the StartEngine Index. As the summer days end, the air sharpens. The leaves dry out and rustle in the wind. The darkness of night falls like an axe. Yet regardless of the season, companies continue to raise capital. In September, businesses raised over $8.7M via Regulation Crowdfunding, nearly $1M more than the capital raised in August.

The Index grew 6% this month. In total, companies have raised over $143.5M via Regulation Crowdfunding since its inception in May 2016.

The top campaign in September is Gin & Luck LLC,  a popular cocktail bar in New York City and Denver, that successfully reached the $1.07M maximum for Regulation Crowdfunding on SeedInvest.

Industry In September

Capital Raised in September via Regulation Crowdfunding by Industry

The Food & Beverage industry is on a roll, continually raising the most capital out of any industry over the past three months. In September, Food & Beverage companies raised more than $1.57M. Technology companies raised $1.54, and Manufacturing raised $1.1M, the first time Manufacturing has entered the top three or even the top ten. In fact, manufacturing companies have raised just $1.12M in total since the start of Regulation Crowdfunding.

In September, Wefunder led the pack with $3.1M raised. StartEngine followed with $2M, and NetCapital with $1.1M.

State of Operation

Total Capital Raised Via Regulation Crowdfunding in September by State

California raised the most capital in September, with $2M raised. Delaware raised $1M, and Pennsylvania with $726K, nearly doubling both state’s raise amounts since inception to $2.8M and $1.7M respectively.


Total Capital Raised in September by County Via Regulation Crowdfunding

In September, New Castle County, Delaware raised the most capital with just over $1.07M. This was due to Braidy Industries’ successful raise on NetCapital, a manufacturing company creating a new metal alloy that brings greater efficiency to space travel and vehicle transportation. San Francisco County came in second with $775K, and Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania in third with $620K.

Capital Raised on StartEngine via Regulation Crowdfunding By Company

On StartEngine’s platform, companies raised a combined $2M. Gab AI, the free speech platform, raised $622K in September. Power Hero, a P2P electric vehicle charging marketplace, raised $150K, and Smoke Cartel, a retailer and distributor for smoking accessories and glassware, raised $110K.
