  • After 3 years of testing and research we believe we have perfected our technology behind our product, and our patent application has been approved by the USPTO and PCT.
  • Our Age-tech estimate for the largest 35 American consumer brands adds up to $350B. (Source)
  • We have a strong team of advisors and partners with deep industry experience including PhDs, doctors, and entrepreneurs who believe in the product and company and have invested their time and money. We are personally affected by this problem, giving us the motivation, passion, and urgency to find a solution.

OVERVIEW

StrideTech Go is Making Walkers Smart

We have developed a technology that can turn any walker into a smart walker with the goal of preventing falls in older adults. We are bringing the walker, a technology that hasn’t changed in decades, into the 21st century.

We believe that StrideTech Go is uniquely primed to launch as a consumer electronic, speeding up our time to market, however, we envision StrideTech Go as the new standard of care for anyone who uses a walker. Our goal for this product is to be reimbursable as a Remote Patient Monitoring Device and real time fall assessment tool that is accessible to anyone.

We worry about your loved one falling so you don’t have to, providing peace of mind for family members and improved treatment capabilities for healthcare providers. Engineering is primed, manufacturing is ready and we have a MOU with a partner for distribution.

THE PROBLEM

Falls in Older Adults Currently Lack a Technology Solution

We believe there is relatively little awareness of the role that improper walker use plays in falls in older adults, despite the fact that it is a common, well-researched problem. For older adults, incorrect walker use often goes hand in hand with increased dependence on mobility devices, decreased mobility and falls.

Healthcare professionals also have concerns, including lack of insight into their patient’s mobility, a constant need to train/retrain their patients on walkers, patient re-injury and re-admittance, patient and family confusion and anger when a fall happens, and dissatisfaction with care.

Meanwhile, improper walker use can cause families of older adults to worry about their loved one’s mobility, feel uncertainty around their loved one’s health, and struggle with the transition from a family member to a caregiver.

Many of these problems have worsened since 2020, when Medicare reimbursement for Home Health changed from fee-for-service to outcome-driven. (Source) Because of this change, care providers are faced with decreased amounts of reimbursement treatment. Now, they are limited to just 6 visits while needing to maintain patient outcomes. We believe technology is the only way to fill this gap without losing money.

THE SOLUTION

Bringing Walkers into the 21st Century

StrideTech Go is a smart attachment universally compatible with any walker that detects common walker misuses that lead to falls and injury. When StrideTech Go senses excessive weight bearing and forward leaning posture, it provides immediate vibration feedback  through the walker handles to alert the user to these unsafe behaviors.

As a training tool, StrideTech Go can be utilized by families and healthcare professionals to improve walker use through real-time feedback and prevent behaviors which may lead to a fall.

g

In addition, StrideTech Go connects to an app that can be used by families and healthcare professionals to track progress and be alerted to unsafe trends in behavior. Our technology is research-backed, intuitive, teachable, and designed with the safety of the user in mind.

*The above graphic contains images of our beta app which is currently not available for general use

Innovators in the Walkers Business Model

StrideTech Go has the ability to turn walkers into a recurring revenue stream instead of a one-time purchase through subscriptions to our app. Our hybrid business model includes both hardware and subscription sales through B2C channels. Our B2B channels are still in the development phase. Our app, which is not available to the market yet, requires a one-time purchase directly within the app.

For our B2C sales, we will sell directly to older adults and their families online through our website and through retail channels (Durable Medical Equipment stores).

For B2B sales, we plan to target the home health market, outpatient rehab clinics, and physical therapy clinics.

Data collected by StrideTech Go has never been available before and will be extremely valuable to users, family members, PTs, care facilities, and others. In the long term, we see an opportunity for the aggregated data’s value to create new revenue streams for our company.

OUR TRACTION

Proprietary Technology and Strong Partnerships

g

Source

We have spent three years developing our proprietary technology, including the mechanical design and functionality of the product, the hip distance sensor, and the use of vibrotactile, visual, and auditory cues to provide handle feedback to the user on their individual walker.

We expect that our research partnership with Denver University’s Human Dynamics Laboratory will give us access to multi-million dollar lab equipment to clinically validate StrideTech Go and keep us on track to becoming a researched-backed medical device.

When we are ready to launch, our partnership with Modena Senior Living will allow for large scale testing. In addition, our anticipated partnership with MedCOR Professionals will be ready by the end of Q2 2022. We can test, conduct research, and distribute our technology with established partnerships.

THE MARKET

A Massive Market Fueled by a Growing Population

Americans over 50 spent $7.6 trillion on goods and services in 2018, this is projected to grow to $27.5 trillion by 2050. By 2030, they’re expected to spend over $200B annually on tech products. (Source) Meanwhile, the pandemic has made the industry transition very quickly to needing ways to remotely monitor and stay in touch with older adults. As a result, we find that senior care organizations no longer see technology as a nice-to-have but a necessity.

WHY INVEST

Helping Older Adults Stand Tall and Keep their Independence

g

(Source, Source)

We see smart walkers as the new standard for assistive technology.Integrated sensors can detect and predict falls, injuries, and alert healthcare professionals before problems become deadly.

StrideTech has spent over three years developing this technology and has finally reached a commercially viable product with a patent and trade secrets in place. Manufacturing has already been secured, so funds can go directly to building inventory for sale and large scale testing.

We are actively engaged in testing at senior living facilities and negotiating partnership agreements. In short, we are all set and ready to go. Join us as we set a new standard in a multi-million dollar industry and create better care for our loved ones as they age.

StrideTech Go users experience motor learning!

Data collected from StrideTech’s testing shows biofeedback works to teach walker users better posture, reducing fall risk.

Our testing shows walker users decrease their average hip distance from the walker frame, increase in variance of distance from their walker frame, and an increase in time to move a distance - these are all great indicators of the motor learning that happens when getting feedback from StrideTech Go.

Stride Tech Medical Product Highlight → StrideTech Go App for Family Caregivers! 📱🌟

Last week we announced the development of our app and showed how easily StrideTech Go can be set up. Today we are taking a look at how family caregivers can use our app!

The app will allow family caregivers to monitor information about their loved one such as last time they used their walker, the number of minutes used, the number of misuses, and their loved ones posture score. All stats will be presented visually using red, yellow, green stoplight fashion to make it easy for the caregiver to see if there are any behaviors that need to be addressed. The family caregiver will also have the ability to set up alerts for certain behaviors (such as the walker tipping over, that may indicate a fall) so that they are able to be more at ease knowing their loved one is safe.

This is only the beginning of StrideTech’s app development and we plan many more features for future versions. We are excited to see where we will be able to take StrideTech Go for family caregivers.

Stride Tech Medical Product Highlight → Easy Installation!

Meet Param Singh, a StrideTech Advisor and Inventor of the First Total Artificial Heart!

Param Singh is one of two inventors of the AbioCor, the first total artificial heart (Patent 4,888,011). He is now retired from Abiomed after taking it from formation to an IPO, and has enjoyed being able to mentor entrepreneurs and invest his time in worthy start-ups in the medical field.

“Wheeled Walkers were developed to prevent falls among the elderly population as ability to balance declines, but did very little to prevent falls, which can lead to serious injuries, loss of mobility and, often, fatal outcomes. The StrideTech team of young engineers tackled this problem and discovered a flaw in the design and use of these walkers, which they corrected by developing a simple and economical add-on device for existing wheeled walkers. This eliminates the primary reason for falls. Bravo!”

Param’s  vast knowledge and experience in medical technology and startup companies has helped Stride Tech Medical from the beginning, thank you!

How Using a Walker Wrong Can Cause More Harm Than Good

According to a study published in Geriatrics and Gerontology International, 50% of walker users have forward leaning posture and that forward-leaning is problematic in causing falls.

Our mission at StrideTech is to prevent falls and improve confidence for older adults who use walkers, giving them and their family peace of mind through proactive technology. Our first product, StrideTech Go, is an innovative walker attachment with smart technology that monitors and corrects common walker misuse (including forward leaning) to prevent injury.

Serving a Large and Growing Market

According to The Gerontechnologist, AgeTech is technology that’s designed to meet the needs of older adults and those who care for them, and includes older adults (and other stakeholders) in the design process.

Longevity Technology estimates the global Age-tech market will double from $1 to $2 trillion. This is driven by two factors: growth in the so-called “Longevity Economy” (spending by or for over 50 year olds) from $26 trillion to $37 trillion globally; and growth in the rate of digitization from 4% to 8%.

StrideTech sees smart walkers as the new standard for assistive technology. Integrated sensors can detect and predict falls, injuries, and alert healthcare professionals before problems become fatal.

We have spent over three years developing our StrideTech GO technology and have reached a commercially viable product that has received its USPTO Patent.

Join us as we set a new standard in a multi-million dollar industry and create better care for our loved ones as they age. Invest in StrideTech Medical today!

StrideTech Go is Solving a Huge Problem in Healthcare

Without proper training, walkers place users in a vulnerable position. According to a study published in Geriatrics and Gerontology International, nearly 80% of participants obtained a rolling walker without consultation or training with a medical professional. Even within Home Health Agencies, where patients are often trained on correct walker use by a healthcare professional, 58% of falls can be attributed to incorrect mobility device use, according to a study from the American Physical Therapy Association.

StrideTech Go helps healthcare professionals enhance their walker training and encourage compliance with correct walker use, 24/7.  The StrideTech GO walker attachment uses smart technology to monitor and correct common walker misuse to prevent injury.

A Physical Therapist Gives His Take on StrideTech Go

Healthcare professionals have played a key role in developing StrideTech Go over the years. We have interviewed dozens of Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists in order to better understand how StrideTech Go can help them and their patients. Across many interviews we encountered 3 key insights:

1️⃣ Weight distribution and body position are both critical measurements when it comes to correcting walker use

2️⃣ In order to improve walking behavior repetition is key for rehabilitation

3️⃣ Utilizing data to track patient progress is important to inform Plan of Care

Our long-term tester Barbara, who showed a 400% improvement in her walker use after using StrideTech Go for 30 days, is also working with Brennan Seevers, a Physical Therapist and Area Rehab Director at EmpowerMe Wellness. Brennan has been using our technology to assess Barbara’s progress from a clinical perspective. After seeing the data collected on Barbara by StrideTech Go Brennan commented, “I appreciate being able to see the hip distance and forces across the hands… I really appreciate the zoomed out view. That helps me see the changes over time and that is ultimately what I care about.”

One of our goals with StrideTech GO is for healthcare providers to have data to improve and inform their care as we work together to prevent falls.

Meet George Douaire, President and CEO of StrideTech Medical

Meet George Douaire, StrideTech Director, President & Chief Executive Officer!
Why StrideTech?
I joined the team as CEO to bring my years of experience in marketing, sales, finance, and strategic development with companies from Fortune 50 to publicly traded companies. I have helped other companies grow from startups to successful ongoing companies (one to an IPO) and have worked on world class brands. I am excited for the opportunity to help StrideTech succeed and help as many walker users as possible.

The mission of helping walker users live safely and enjoy their independence longer really resonated with me. I had been looking to work with a company that would make a difference. When I met the StrideTech team, I was drawn to their passion and a product with the potential to impact the lives of so many people. From my personal family experience I know how a fall can change the lives of a loved one - and the family of a person who has suffered a fall.

The number of people in the US, and globally, who use walkers is only going to increase in the coming years. If we can help even one family extend the quality of life of a loved one, we will have accomplished something special.

What is your favorite memory with a grandparent?
My Mom’s parents had a lakehouse in Wisconsin where we would spend a lot of time in the summers. We would have wagon races down the long, downhill driveway to the house. It felt like we were flying. If you made it all the way to the bottom you would end up at the house. If not, lots of road rash and skinned elbows.

A Partnership To Become A Researched-Backed Medical Device

Long-Term Pilot Test Results

Barbara, a previous short-term tester at one of our monthly walker repair events hosted at our partner senior living communities, agreed to volunteer for a twelve-week pilot test with us. We fitted a StrideTech GO to her walker, instructed her on how to charge the device, and asked her to use her walker as she normally would throughout the week.

At weekly sessions we meet with Barbara to check-in, upload the past week's data, and show her walker use data from the week prior.

“I feel that StrideTech GO is very beneficial. I can see my improvement…I’m thrilled about my balance,” exclaimed Barbara at our last weekly session.

We are so proud of Barbara and the progress she has made over the past nine weeks. We are happy to share that since using StrideTech GO, Barbara’s has improved by 400% over the first 30 days of using StrideTech Go. In the first two weeks of testing, 20 - 40% of her walker activity was spent in incorrect use and unsafe positions. Now, over 90% of her walker use is within safe and effective ranges, and this learning has been maintained for over 30 days.

Our goal is to see this improvement in many more people just like Barbara. Investing in StrideTech will make it possible for us to get StrideTech Go to the growing list of people interested in seeing the benefits of our technology for themselves. Join our community of investors today.

In our summary below, we have highlighted the key findings that our research and data has shown us about our StrideTech GO smart walker attachment.

A Partnership to Keep People Moving Forward Safely

MedCOR and StrideTech have formed a partnership to distribute our StrideTech GO smart walker attachment. Our companies align on our shared vision for utilizing high quality products to improve mobility and safety for walker users.

MedCOR Professionals has been a leading medical supplier in Scarborough, Maine for over 20 years. They are one of the few companies in New England who offer personalized medical care to cater to all phases of a patient's health and recovery. MedCOR partners with product vendors to provide high quality medical supplies that ensure customers are cared for and are provided the highest level of customer service.

In January 2021, StrideTech and MedCOR Professionals established a distribution agreement which allows our StrideTech GO product to begin distribution in Summer 2022. MedCOR anticipates introducing StrideTech GO to dozens of senior living communities and home care agencies per quarter. Through existing relationships and trust built with providers throughout New England, they will demonstrate the value and efficacy of the product as they engage with residents, families, therapists, care staff, and management. By showcasing StrideTech GO at various conferences and events, MedCOR aims to reach even more people by highlighting the product’s ability to improve safety across their diverse line of mobility devices from many manufacturers. MedCOR has already begun this process and anticipates initial sales will be utilizing a business to business to consumer (B2B2C) sales strategies in which the customer is reached through strategic business partnerships. MedCOR currently has 100s of clients representing nearly every corner of the healthcare market.

“As soon as StrideTech GO is ready for market, our launch strategy will position it as a critical component of mobility safety,” stated Krause.

We are grateful to Chris and everyone at MedCOR for extending the invitation for our partnership. Together we will be able to help walker users feel more confident, safer, for family members to know their loved ones are doing well, and Healthcare providers to have data to improve and inform users care with StrideTech GO.

Introducing Andrew Plum, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer

Meet Andrew, StrideTech Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer!

Why StrideTech?

It comes down to two main reasons. The first is I really enjoy the sweet spot where hardware and software meet. I think it makes the engineering work more enjoyable as I get to work as both an electrical and firmware engineer. I enjoy seeing my code come to life which makes the work all the more rewarding. My experience designing and building complicated robots and electromechanical systems for a previous startup gives me the insight needed to design and build StrideTech Go.

My second reason is I want to build something of value. When I think about StrideTech’s mission, it reinforces I am on the right path. Every day, I know my work is helping walker users feel more confident and safer, and that makes me want to work harder and push forward.

What is your favorite memory with a grandparent?

As a child, I remember visiting my grandmother at Coxton Lake in Pennsylvania. I loved sitting with my grandmother on her home’s porch swing in the afternoons. We would sit and swing, and she would sing songs while I napped on her lap.

Introducing Humsini Acharya, Co-Founder and Chief Research Officer

Meet Humsini, StrideTech Co-Founder and Chief Research Officer!

Why StrideTech?

As much as I love research and science, my goal is to bring that research into the real world. Scientific technology can be useful in the laboratory, however, it has a much greater impact when used by the people who need it most. A randomized control trial is great for writing research papers and getting published, but I felt the need to take it a step further and design for user needs and think of how the technology can be translated into a product.

What excites me about StrideTech is the scientific possibilities of increasing long term behavior change, using rewards as a means to improve motor control and learning, and the effects of biofeedback on biomechanics and postural control. What excites users about StrideTech is the possibility to remain independent and improve their mobility.

StrideTech has given me the balance to do research, AND talk to the people who would actually use StrideTech Go every day. I love to see users enjoy confident mobility. StrideTech has given me the chance to see science in people, and not just in data and papers.

What is your favorite memory with a grandparent?

My grandparents live in India, so I don’t get to see them often. One memory that stands out to me was a time I was walking with my Ammama (grandmother) around the streets of Bangalore. We were walking to visit the amazing street food carts, eating everything from chile limon corn to pani puri to mangoes fresh from the tree. I loved getting to wander with her while she told me all about how the city and how it has changed.

Friendly Reminder That There is Only 3 Days Left to Get Bonus Shares!

Why StrideTech?

Inventing products that help people has always been a passion of mine. In high school, I decided to join the engineering club and compete in the National Engineering Design Competition. Here I was able to use my creativity and engineering skills to design a product to help people with limited dexterity assemble and tape boxes for their job. When I saw how our invention directly improved the lives of the people working at this packaging and fulfillment center, I knew that this was what I was meant to do.

Learn About Tim's First Ever Invention Here:

I helped design a number of an assistive technology devices from a packaging system for stuffing shredded paper into bags, to an augmented reality headset for people with movement disabilities to control the world around them with only their head and eye movement. Eventually my passion led me to develop StrideTech Go to assist my Grandma Chris and her challenges with using a walker and maintaining her mobility.

What is your favorite memory with a grandparent?

Grandma Chris’s house was always decorated with lots of fancy jars and containers. I remember searching her jars as a kid exploring for the hidden candy. We didn’t get candy too often at home, so I would take full advantage of these treasure hunts. My grandma and I also had the same taste in pizza, thin crust with cheese and black olives, and even though nobody else liked it, she would order one just for us to share.

We Are Proud To Announce: The USPTO Has Issued A Patent For Our StrideTech Go!

StrideTech Medical is proud to announce that the USPTO has issued a patent for StrideTech Go as of March 15, 2022.  Patent No. 11,276,294

Over 3 years ago, a team of students at the University of Colorado, Boulder decided to use their engineering and design skills to invent a technology that helps older adults improve their mobility and prevent falls. This team founded StrideTech Medical Inc. and last week the USPTO issued them a patent for their technology, StrideTech Go.

A patent showcases the novelty of StrideTech Go, nobody else has created this technology. Receiving a utility patent is a long, challenging and expensive process, showcasing the resilience and dedication of the team. This patent is only the beginning. StrideTech Medical has already filed an international patent application and plan to continue expanding their intellectual property through trade secrets and research efforts.

StrideTech’s patent opens up exciting possibilities for the company. As an early-stage company, this patent is an important factor in creating value for investors. Since sales for medical devices can take time due to FDA approval, patents make up a significantly greater portion of enterprise value for early-stage companies. Furthermore, this patent could lead to collaborations, joint ventures, and licenses with strategic partners.
