To our StartEngine Followers,
We wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to our new manufacturing partner, Jiangsu Aima Manufacturing & Technology Co., Ltd. AIMA is based in China and is a world leader in the production of electric two-wheelers. They produce 3,000,000 units annually and have 11,000,000 satisfied customers around the globe. AIMA will be doing most of our parts production and assembly in their Chinese facility before shipping large numbers of M1's to the U.S. We are excited to be partnered with another industry leader and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with our Chinese partners.
By partnering with AIMA we have been able to switch our engineering focus from production to design. Nate and the team have been busy putting the finishing touches on a more refined and more powerful M1. Nick Nieminen, Monday Motorbikes Director of Product Design & Engineering gives us a rundown of the changes here:
"We are totally redoing some aspects of the M1. We have an excellent new battery architecture. They’ll look similar to the old ones, but with a carrying handle, higher energy capacity, tighter fitting molded plastics, and a more intelligent battery management system. The battery ejection system is getting a big redesign too. It will work similarly to the current one, but smoother, and it will be easier to assemble. It will also clean up the aesthetic above the batteries with a more sleek top cover. The charging system will be another big improvement. The charger itself will be smaller, and the connectors will be more robust and easier to attach to the bike. The seat architecture will achieve the same signature shape, but with an entirely new seatpan, foam, stiffening members, and tail light. We’ll be shifting to multiple foam densities for a cushier ride, an improved upholstery method around the seatpan, and a cleaner interface between the fabric and body plastics.
In other areas, we are simply updating the aesthetic. The new seat underbelly panel will extend further forward to more seamlessly connect the front and rear halves of the bike. It will also integrate the new electronics enclosure that will hold the new brains of this smarter bike. Along with the underbelly, the crotch piece which connects the top of the seat and the rear face of the batteries will also be cleaned up.
Some of the parts just needed to be better. One change will be our pedal cranks. We’ve noticed our current ones bend if the bike takes a tumble, so we’ll be switching to stronger cranks. Easy! The same goes for brake levers. We found some sweet new CNC’d brake levers, compared to the existing cast ones.
We also needed to make some of our parts easier to manufacture. Many of our plastic components will be updated for injection molding, which will give the bike’s bodywork a more precise fit. Some metal components will be cast and stamped where appropriate, while still CNCing the front-and-center items."
Remember that there are just 11 days to invest in our StartEngine campaign. We have the most followers of any StartEngine campaign in the history of StartEngine. We need our followers to help to get as much working capital as possible to make the future happen sooner. If you are simply interested in the M1, our Silver Level perk pays for itself when you reserve an M1 during the campaign. Investors must reserve their M1's during the campaign to take advantage of the Investor Perks.
Thank you for your support,
The Monday Motorbikes Team
