OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE

Flying Cars

Urban Air Mobility (AKA “flying cars”) is an exciting space that people have dreamed about for decades. It was part of our founder’s original vision to see xCraft’s technology used to help move people and things efficiently and autonomously through the vast open airspace.

Image is a rendering of the type of UAM Vehicle we intend to build

xCraft has developed the flying car concepts through vehicle and logistical system design.  These concepts have been discussed with our IP attorneys and patent applications have been initiated although not yet submitted.

Overview

America’s Drone Company

xCraft develops technology that powers the future of autonomous flight. With a launch on ABC’s Shark Tank, xCraft has become “America’s Drone Company” creating an arsenal of innovative, patented drone systems that have forever changed the UAV landscape. Now we’re launching our products into a marketplace full of demand for the solutions we’ve crafted.

The Problem

The drone market lacks innovation and improvement

Drones expand our horizons as a human race, enabling us to quickly deliver life-saving medications, more efficiently search for lost persons, safely spot wildfires, and even communicate in areas without cellular reception. But, prior to xCraft, there was a gap in the market for well-built drones that can fly extremely fast and far, while communicating with their counterparts

The SOlution

Faster, more efficient drones built with uniquely patented technology

At xCraft, we have developed patented technologies to take the drone industry to new heights, improving safety, health and quality of life for people all over the world. xCraft’s unique drones are made with patented technologies designed to outperform each and every one of our competitors. These technologies, among others still in development, will be used in the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) market.

The Market

A fast growing multi-million dollar market

The global urban air mobility market is projected to reach USD $86.83 Billion by 2035 (Source), while the commercial drone market size is projected to reach USD $35.4 Billion Million by 2026 (Source). Meanwhile, the military drone market is expected to reach USD $21.76 Billion by 2026 (Source).

Our Traction

A Shark Tank favorite with major media accolades

xCraft appeared on Shark Tank and was immediately approved and backed by all five celebrity investors. Following our debut on the show, we were featured in multiple major press outlets including VentureBeat, Inc.com, Fortune, Business Insider, MarketWatch, USA Magazine, Fast Company and TechCrunch.

During our last two Reg CF campaigns, we raised over $2.1M and we now have more than 3,500 existing shareholders. Recently, we developed a USA-Built multirotor with a 2Kg payload for DoD and tactical operations and delivered drones to the US Air Force Academy for UAS training. We also added an aviation pioneer and founder of Scaled Composites, Burt Rutan, to our board.

What we do

Technology built to solve the world’s toughest challenges

At xCraft, we partner with companies in defense, energy, security, public safety, and other industries to develop tailored applications that solve real world problems.

One of our recently developed products, Panadrone, is a fully autonomous tethered “drone-in-a-box” that can fly up to 400 feet and remain airborne for 24+ hours. This system, which features an aerial camera and pop-up mesh network for communication, will be used by one of our customers to go into disaster areas and survey for survivors and extent of damage.

The vision

Leading the industry, one life-changing innovation after another

At xCraft, we are on a mission to develop powerful flying robots that change the world. Our vision is to better the planet and bring value to people’s lives by cultivating love, personal fulfillment, and innovation. We take pride in being leaders in American technological innovation, as we strive to surpass our customers’ expectations, while delivering undeniable value. At xCraft, we expect excellence, measure by results, and value character as a core trait in each of our team members.

Our Leadership

Passion combined with inspiration and a drive to succeed

A passion for flight and innovation has always driven our Co-Founder and CEO, JD Claridge. From an early age, he was building homemade hang gliders from bed sheets and scrap tubing.  In 2005, he constructed a fully functional fixed-wing drone out of hobby parts and used it for filming real estate in his town.  Something that was very novel for that time.  That passion is what drove him to build xCraft into what it is today, a company that develops powerful flying robots that change the world.

Why Invest

Join the ranks of Shark Tank investors, as we take xCraft to the next level!

xCraft has proven its staying power, after nearly 7 years of disrupting the drone industry. Our innovative, patented drone technology is outperforming our competitors and solving some of the world’s biggest challenges.

As “America’s Drone Company”, we see it as our mission to bring better, more efficient, life-saving solutions to the drone industry. We raised over $2.1M during our last two Reg CF campaigns, which enabled us to develop three new game-changing drone systems. Our company’s investors include over 3,500 shareholders. We hope you’ll join us, too, as we move into our next phase of innovation and continue to bring life-changing technology to the market.

PhoneDrone

Investors ,

In response to some of the recent comments about our PhoneDrone Kickstarter campaign, we want to reiterate our commitment to take care of those supporters through refunds.  If this is you, please know that we are making every effort to move as quickly as possible even though it often seems like a slow process.

As mentioned in a previous update (See “Flying Cars and Flying Phones”), we have already provided many refunds as we have available funds to do so.  We are not yet able to do a “mass” refund but try to work through several per week.

We know the work is not yet done.  We must refund every single backer before xCraft can move on to more exciting endeavors.  We've now put this in writing.  The "Use of Proceeds" table in our offering document reflects this promise.  As long as we are successful with this raise, we plan to refund every backer. We think that it is worth it to take care of the people who have helped us be successful!

Sincerely,

-JD Claridge

Big News in the Drone Industry!!

Investors and Friends,

I am so impressed with our community.  You have helped push our campaign past the $250K mark!  I would like to personally welcome all our new investors.  Thank you so much for joining us on this journey!

There's been a lot of positive things happing in the drone industry lately and I wanted to share some of them with our investor community.

  • FAA Has Unveiled the Final Drone Rules for Remote ID, Nighttime Flights and Operations Over People:  About a month ago, the Federal Aviation Administration issued several new rules which outline details of future drone operations and hardware requirements.  These regulations pave the way for mass adoption of drones in national airspace to perform life-saving and critical work such as fire spotting, medical and vaccine delivery, infrastructure inspection, package delivery, and much more.  Read more about these new rules here. We believe that these rules will allow xCraft's technology to be utilized in these growing markets.
  • First Fully Automated Commercial Drone Flights Approved:  Earlier last month, the FAA granted a small Massachusetts-based company permission to operate drones without hands-on piloting or direct observation by human controllers.  The decision by the FAA limits operation of automated drones to rural areas, and altitudes below 400 feet, but is a potentially significant step in expanding commercial applications of drones for farmers, utilities, mining companies and other customers.  This might not sound like much, but it's a major step toward large-scale automated drone operations.  xCraft's PANADRONE is a fully-autonomous "drone-in-a-box" that we feel hopeful will be able to deliver it’s full potential in a regulatory environment that allows for such operations. We are excited to see where this is headed!
  • DJI Added to US Commerce Blacklist: The Chinese drone company, DJI,  was added to the US Commerce Department's "Entity List".  Read more about this action here.
  • Made in America/USA Drone Executive Order:  In recent months President Trump and Biden have released executive orders that are aimed to help to ensure that the federal government procures goods and services from American companies whenever possible. Read more about this here and here.

With all that said, it is a good time to be  "America's Drone Company".  xCraft is well positioned with its technology and products to catch the wave of new opportunities headed this way!

Thank you for your support and fly high!

Flying Cars and Flying Phones!

Flying Cars!

A lot of people have asked for more details on our plans around flying cars so we thought this would be a perfect opportunity to present our thoughts on where xCraft fits in this new and exciting market!

Urban Air Mobility (AKA “flying cars”) is an exciting space that people have dreamed about for decades.  It was part of our founder’s original vision to see xCraft’s technology used to help move people and things efficiently and autonomously through the vast open airspace.  Although it’s an exciting dream that seems to be closer to reality, we foresee several obstacles to full-scale adoption in the marketplace. Most notably, these obstacles are:

1. Intrinsic noise generated by the flying vehicles

2. Passenger throughput capability of a large scale air taxi operation

Noise:

Aircraft are noisy.  Even a small aircraft such as the Schweitzer 300C helicopter, emits almost 90 dB of noise at 100 feet away (citation).  This is an uncomfortable amount of noise that can cause permanent hearing loss with long-term exposure (citation).  A small flying car (or eVTOL as they are called) would likely generate even more noise than a Schweitzer 300C since they have more rotors with shorter blades which need to spin faster than a helicopter’s to produce the same lift.  We don’t see public acceptance of such noisy eVTOLs being deployed on a mass scale in urban environments until this problem is solved.  That is why it’s one of the key focus areas of xCraft’s future technology development.

Passenger Throughput:

Getting people in and out of a flying taxi at the same rate as they can do so in an Uber today is a huge challenge facing the Urban Air Mobility market.  Many proposals revolve around placing eVTOL ports on top of skyscrapers. This presents the obvious challenge of getting people up and down elevators much faster than they do today.  Elevators were not built to handle adequate rider volume.  Also, to compete with ground-based taxis, hundreds, if not thousands of eVTOL flights would need to operate from a single location per hour.  This is simply not feasible given airspace and time constraints.  Consider that the busiest airport in the world (Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta) handles approximately 200 flights per hour (citation) with a vastly larger logistical infrastructure than could fit on top of a building.  To overcome this obstacle, clean sheet ideas need to be presented that remove the bottlenecks and allow true competition with existing ground-based transportation approaches.  This is the second key focus area of xCraft’s future technology development.

Flying Phones!

In 2015, xCraft ran a successful Kickstarter campaign and later a Indiegogo campaign for the PhoneDrone.  The concept was just what the name implies; it was a drone that carried a smartphone - using its camera, processor, GPS, and cellular connectivity to create an intelligent flying robot.  xCraft has been issued patents for this technology.

Although the initial funding went well, the project faced many challenges and delays in delivery, culminating with our manufacturer in China pulling the plug and walking away with almost $300k of our backer's money.  This was a huge blow to a small startup and to our community.  We decided to do the right thing; cancel the project and pledge to refund backers.

Today, we have already provided many refunds but the work is not done.  We must refund every single backer before this company can move on to more exciting endeavors.  We've now put this in writing.  The "Use of Proceeds" table in our offering document reflects this promise.  As long as we are successful with this raise, we plan to refund every backer. We think that it is worth it to take care of the people who have helped us be successful!

So that is our story about flying cars and flying phones.  The past is sometimes dark but the future is bright!

To the next level!
