the pitch

Our mission is to help the world better understand and control the enormous impact of weather. Our exclusive data and AI-driven modeling deliver more accurate weather information, resulting in better decision-making and significant cost savings for our customers. As the climate changes and the impact of weather increases, we believe the value of our service - and its importance to the planet - will only grow larger.

Since Our Last Raise

Weather Technology Built on Better Data

As the global economy contends with the effects of climate change, Tempest meets the increasing demands for better weather data. Our patented Nearcast™ Technology provides all our customers with point-specific weather information exactly where and when they need it, providing cost-saving, essential information to individuals, businesses, and governments.

Backed by a team of Ph.D. atmospheric and data scientists, seasoned business executives, and highly skilled engineers, we achieved YOY customer growth of 25% and exceeded $9 million in annual revenue after we completed our previous raise of $2.5 million. Now, we are ready to accelerate growth.

The Problem & Our Solution

A Comprehensive Answer to Weather's Costly Impact

Each year, severe weather kills over 60,000 people, with the cost to the global economy reaching over $1 trillion. Severe events are only a small fraction of the impact on the $94+ trillion global economy.

(Source) *Projected global cost increase due to climate change around energy, water supply, and hurricane damage.

Nearcast™ Technology, our point-specific weather information solution, uses best-of-breed zero-maintenance hardware, comprehensive observational data, AI-based weather modeling, and innovative mobile applications to deliver improved decision support so our customers can know what is happening now, what happened yesterday, and what will happen tomorrow. Our revenue comes from three synergistic sources:

  1. Revenue from our Tempest Hardware system through direct sales to consumers (B2C) and businesses (B2B) as well as our partner programs (B2B2C)
  2. Recurring annual subscription revenue from our family of Lifestyle Apps which are powered by our Tempest Network and Nearcast Technology™
  3. Recurring revenue from TempestOne - our business platform that supplies powerful weather data and decision support through our SaaS tools and via API

Using our technology, businesses and consumers can make informed decisions that save costs, aid preparation, and optimize performance across various uses.

The Market & Our Traction

Meeting the Growing Demand for Weather Data and Decision Support

Weather impacts sectors across the global economy, including agriculture, energy, insurance, transportation, and tourism. As a result, there is already over $10 billion in annual revenue generated by private firms helping to manage this impact (source).

(source, source, source, source, source, source)

We are disrupting and expanding the weather decision support market with our patent-protected, proprietary technology. We are also expanding our market to include gardeners, smart home mavens, parents concerned about family and education, and anyone looking to save energy in the home, as Tempest also enables local operators and utility grid managers to predict demand more accurately so they can allocate energy efficiently.

Partner Case Studies

Tempest is guaranteed to save water and keep landscapes healthy.  An integrated Rachio & Tempest System puts those benefits on steroids!  More than $1 million in Tempest Systems were sold and paired with Rachio controllers in just six months.

Tempest now gives WeatherBug more local data and makes their app more compelling.  And 15 million WeatherBug users are being encouraged to buy Tempest Systems.  Now that’s a partnership!

Our Disney partnership covers everything from weather safety at their parks & hotels to weather and climate education across the globe in a complementary relationship that helps save lives and benefits both businesses.

I have a product, but my concern is over what are you doing to make them better? Mine has never measured wind correctly, or at all, and now it goes offline all the time. So, if that happens so quickly how did you make it better? If not you're just going to bleed customers (and past investors) like myself. Updates? Better tech? Where does this money go to keep those people and get more?

As a current investor I wanted to share a company I came across, that seems to be very innovative and growing quickly in your space. https://www.linkedin.com/company/arbolinc/ I don’t know if they’re a way WeatherFlow-Tempest can work with them, this is FYI. Also, can you update what your YTD revenue is and percent recurring? Any other updates with partnership, and importantly government (Navy) contracts would be helpful as well. Thanks!

Can you help me understand the scope of your Navy contract? I used to perform some data analysis and "problem child" identification of modifications and replacement programs for Air Force Weather. Are you outfitting vessels and/or will your system(s) replace legacy ground based airfield systems with your sensor suite? (And displays I assume) Will fielding be accomplished via a replacement program or a modification program? I've seen what happens when lyfe cycle extension technical insertions were forced by senior leadership via the, "Field it now, fix it later" theory of operation because mod money was easier to justify than acquisitions money. Most importantly, are you the depot? If do, for how long? Is it a CPFF contract?

Is your intent to further automate the weather observation and dissemination process via ingest of observed parameters into an AI forecast network? I notice you're not addressing transmissivity or runway visual range, so is aviation weather off the table? I also saw where you're supporting the Navy, but what about Air Force? They provide all weather support for the Air Force, Space Force and the Army--in the field and in-garrison. Do you plan to add weather bouys or ingest NOAA data? What about the ingest of satellite data and it's sourcing?

DIVERSE INVESTMENTS

Invest in over 200 start-ups and collectibles!

With Regulation A+, a non-accredited investor can only invest a maximum of 10% of their annual income or 10% of their net worth per year, whichever is greater. There are no restrictions for accredited investors.

With Regulation Crowdfunding, non-accredited investors with an annual income or net worth less than $124,000, are limited to invest a maximum of 5% of the greater of those two amounts. For those with an annual income and net worth greater than $124,000, he/she is limited to investing 10% of the greater of the two amounts.

At the close of an offering, all investors whose funds have “cleared” by this time will be included in the disbursement. At this time, each investor will receive an email from StartEngine with their Countersigned Subscription Agreement, which will serve as their proof of purchase moving forward.

Please keep in mind that a company can conduct a series of “closes” or withdrawals of funds throughout the duration of the campaign. If you are included in that withdrawal period, you will be emailed your countersigned subscription agreement and proof of purchase immediately following that withdrawal.

StartEngine assists companies in raising capital, and once the offering is closed, we are no longer involved with whether the company chooses to list shares on a secondary market, or what occurs thereafter. Therefore, StartEngine has no control or insight into your investment after the close of the live offering. In addition, we are not permitted to provide financial advice. You may want to contact a financial professional to discuss possible investment outcomes.

For Regulation Crowdfunding, investors are able to cancel their investment at any point throughout the campaign up until 48 hours before the closing of the offering. Note: If the company does a rolling close, they will post an update to their current investors, giving them the opportunity to cancel during this timeframe. If you do not cancel within this 5-day timeframe, your funds will be invested in the company, and you will no longer be able to cancel the investment. If your funds show as ‘Invested’ on your account dashboard, your investment can no longer be canceled.

For Regulation A+, StartEngine allows for a four-hour cancelation period. Once the four-hour window has passed, it is up to each company to set their own cancelation policy. You may find the company’s cancelation policy in the company’s offering circular.

Once your investment is canceled, there is a 10-day clearing period (from the date your investment was submitted). After your funds have cleared the bank, you will receive your refund within 10 business days.

Refunds that are made through ACH payments can take up to 10 business days to clear. Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of the bank, but we will do everything we can to get you your refund as soon as possible. However, every investment needs to go through the clearing process in order to get sent back to the account associated with the investment.

Both Title III (Regulation Crowdfunding) and Title IV (Reg A+) help entrepreneurs crowdfund capital investments from unaccredited and accredited investors. The differences between these regulations are related to the investor limitations, the differing amounts of money companies are permitted to raise, and differing disclosure and filing requirements.
