GET A PIECE OF ENGINUITY POWER SYSTEMS
Enginuity’s proprietary, low emission engine technology enables combined heat and power and other advanced generation products for home, commercial and military use. These new products are among the first in a generation to deliver electricity, hot water and heat on demand. The E|ONE and E|TWO power products allow homeowners and businesses to reduce utility bills while operating both on and off the grid and can integrate seamlessly with battery and solar. Additionally, the Ruggedized Intelligent Hybrid Generator Set (RIHGS) provides reliable power and storage for potential in-theater deployment. Enginuity has built multiple prototypes and plans to take orders late next year for delivery in 2023.
Through 6 years of development, Enginuity has already raised $11.3M from a Silicon Valley VC fund and high net-worth investors, and close to $1.2M from 347 StartEngine investors. $3.7M signed contract with US Army.
Market validation of the E|ONE winning 2020 International Builders’ Show (IBS) “Best New Home Product”, “Best Energy Efficient Product”, “Best in Show” and the 2022 Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration (AHR) Expo “Sustainable Solution” award unlocking a potential market of 80 million US homes, with additional potential overseas.
With 19 issued, and 11 pending patents, strongly protecting the company’s competitive advantage, the seasoned management team of engineers and business leaders are well suited to execute the business plan.
Enginuity’s proprietary, low emission engine technology enables combined heat and power and other advanced generation products for home, commercial and military use.
Enginuity is a leading innovator in high-efficient micro-generation through it’s patented efficient engine technology.
E|ONE / Home Comfort
Designed for home use operating with conventional or the newest cleantech fuels to live comfortably on or off the grid, while saving money and reducing carbon emissions by up to 50%. Integrates seamlessly with battery and solar. The entire system fits within the footprint of a standard water heater, and produces enough electricity to satisfy the power requirements of an average home.
In an emergency, the E|ONE is designed to seamlessly act as a backup generator during power failures, keeping the home powered when the grid goes down.
Currently, the E|ONE is under technical review with the US Department of Energy through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL) and is building multiple units for demonstrations and product certification in 2022 leading to commercial sales in 2023.
E|TWO / Light-Commercial Power
Enginuity has developed a larger commercial engine for when more power and thermal storage than what E|ONE can provide is required to meet the needs of a given application. A single E|TWO can be stand alone or paralleled to scale up available power and heat, as necessary. For customers and businesses in urban or remote locations, that were previously going to settle for a back-up generator, the E|TWO provides enough power to get “off-the-grid” with no loss of comfort or revenues.
E|TWO is designed to be highly customizable, with a user able to add a buffer tank (or two) for additional thermal storage, add a larger battery for additional electrical storage, or also add another E|TWO to double all outputs. Enginuity has also designed and patented a heat exchanger/dehumidifier to address heating and cooling needs.
Currently, the AHR award-winning E|TWO is engaged in the first steps towards US and global commercialization with strategic partners.
R|HGS
The proprietary engine at the heart of the E|ONE has enabled Enginuity to develop a hybrid generator called RIHGS (Ruggedized Intelligent Hybrid Generator Set), which has both commercial and US Department of Defense applications. RIHGS is designed to provide the military with a lightweight, resilient solution that can be deployed across all services. Beyond defense applications, commercial derivatives of RIHGS can be envisioned for recreational and building applications.
Enginuity is fulfilling a $3.7 million contract with the US Army to develop RIHGS with the objective to deploy the technology in field operations.
The Problem
Fossil fuel power plants expend 65% of their power in waste heat, plus an additional 5% in transmission and distribution by the time it gets to the end user. Enginuity’s founders envisioned the solution as on-site, ultra-efficient combined heat and power appliance, where electricity is made right where it is needed, and heat is used productively instead of wasted into the atmosphere.
As far as we've seen, no company has successfully stepped up to provide consumers with a cost effective, efficient, and reliable in-home electricity generating appliance to replace the grid.
The Solution
The E|ONE is an all-in-one appliance that functions as a home furnace, water heater and electrical generator. E|ONE is designed to give homeowners grid independence with higher efficiency at a lower cost.
Images used in this video are in the prototype phase. Enginuity’s E|ONE device is not currently available commercially.
The E|ONE is created for resilience to utilize, supply or transact power with the grid, and can also operate completely off-grid for maximum reliability.
The Market
Enginuity’s initial target market is made up of the 80 million US homes that can easily be retrofitted for E|ONE. 35 million of these homes are in states which we believe are ideal for E|ONE utilization due to their favorable economics and state incentives.
Every 5 years, these 35 million homeowners can be expected to replace either a water heater, a furnace or buy a back-up generator, potentially leading to 7 million annual E|ONE sales. Capturing just 5% of those would equate to 350,000 systems sold.
Altogether, we predict that our US annual potential market is around 410,000 units per year, or potentially more than $4 billion per year in revenue from these units alone. There are also additional potential revenue streams from value added services, such as financing, electricity transaction fees, and predictive maintenance that drives revenues from ancillary services.
These numbers do not include the large market potential for the future E|TWO and RIHGS product lines.
Our Traction
Enginuity has constructed and has conducted rigorous durability, emission and performance tests on multiple operational prototypes of our engines and of the E|ONE unit. Third party testing results show that emissions already meet CARB limits. Enginuity’s technology is protected by 19 issued and 11 pending patents, covering opposed piston technology, combined heat and power, and portable generation. A derivative of our E|ONE technology, a hybrid generator-set (RIHGS), has been awarded a DoD contract that Enginuity has begun to fulfill. The technology is now well positioned for commercialization through contract manufacturers in the US and worldwide.
Images used are in the prototype phase. Enginuity’s E|ONE device is not currently available commercially.
In 2020, Enginuity won the “Best Home Technology Product,” “Best Energy Efficiency Product,” and “Best In Show” awards at the NAHB Builder’s show. In 2021, Enginuity won the “Sustainable Solution” award for the upcoming AHR expo.
Currently, Enginuity has received two contracts from the U.S. Government and one contract from the Propane Research and Education Center (PERC). Enginuity has a pipeline of approximately $12 million in potential financial assistance and grant revenues from the U.S. government and other organizations to fund R&D.
What We Do
We believe Enginuity’s family of high-performance, energy efficient engines represent the world’s first production-ready 4-stroke inwardly-opposed piston engine. These engines possess an innovative set of operational characteristics which make them well suited for residential distributed energy and hybrid power generation.
The E|ONE patented generator uses less fuel than conventional engines due to a patented liquid cooling solution, and is compact and lightweight due to its lean architecture. The E|ONE’s low emissions already meet CARB limits for particulates, and the system is quiet and nearly vibration-free due to its unique “mirror balanced” design.
With this technology, Enginuity will enable a family of products that will change how home owners, small business owners and even the Military meet their energy needs.
Images used are in the prototype phase. Enginuity’s devices are not currently available commercially.
The Business Model
Enginuity’s operational plan is to bring its revolutionary products to market by leveraging existing installers, wholesale distributors and other B2B channels. In the first five years, the plan is to use contract manufacturing to build and assemble the units with the possibility of bringing manufacturing in-house over time.
For example, the average E|ONE delivered retail value is $12,500, excluding installation. The average price paid to Enginuity amounts to $8,750 per unit. This puts our gross margin at 25% if we use contract manufacturing and 50+% if we build our own manufacturing facilities.
There are additional potential revenue streams from value added services, such as financing, grid integration and predictive maintenance.
How We Are Different
While some our competitors use retrofitted transportation engines ill-suited for home use, or customized engineered solutions that are expensive to implement, E|ONE is designed specifically for installation in already-existing homes across the US with the following benefits:
The Vision
As the world moves towards greater energy efficiency and increasing solar and wind power, Enginuity believes home power generation and storage will become essential elements for homes and commercial buildings of the future.
Enginuity’s multiple energy efficient systems will play a critical part in the smart grid revolution while simultaneously providing cost savings, added reliability and sustainability benefits to consumers.
