REASONS TO INVEST

DoneGood is making it easy and more affordable to shop sustainably and make a positive impact with every purchase. All brands that sell products on DoneGood’s website have been thoroughly vetted to ensure they’re using highly eco-friendly materials and practices, paying living wages, and producing goods in safe conditions free of child and trafficked labor.

The market for sustainable goods is large and growing rapidly. A recent report shows that “EcoActives” (consumers seeking to live an ecofriendly lifestyle) “represent a $376 billion opportunity that brands would be foolish to miss.” Sustainable product sales have grown nearly three times faster than non-sustainable products since 2015. Yet when shopping online, 84% of consumers said that finding sustainable products is important to them—but only 17% said finding the sustainable products they want is easy. DoneGood solves this problem. We believe it’s clear that the Amazon-alternative for the growing sustainable goods market has the potential to be a very large and successful business—and Forbes has called DoneGood “The Amazon for social good.”*

The founders and executives of DoneGood have formerly served as top communications advisors on Capitol Hill and as leaders at start-ups, non-profits, and publicly traded sustainable e-commerce brands. We started DoneGood because we believe the dollars we all spend are the world's most powerful force for change. We have built a robust automated online marketplace with over 120 sustainable and socially just brands and thousands of loyal customers. Now with this funding round, our team can triple the number of brands on DoneGood and invest in proven marketing channels to take DoneGood to the next level.

PRODUCT AND BUSINESS MODEL

Galvanizing The Power Of Consumer Spending To Build A Better Future

According to recent trend reports, socially responsible consumer spending is at an all-time high, and increasing by as much as 25% annually (source). The growing volume of conscious consumers want to buy products that are not made in sweatshops or with practices that destroy the planet. However, many people have difficulty shopping sustainably due to the higher cost of sustainable goods and the time it can take to find brands aligned with their deeply-held beliefs.

In order to make sustainable shopping easier and more affordable, DoneGood has created a robust online marketplace where consumers can quickly find what they need, get exclusive discounts, and know their purchases support important causes, all at the same time. Our team uses our own proprietary screening process to vet every single brand’s social and environmental impact–so that our users don’t have to.

DoneGood users are introduced to brands like Starfish Project, a jewelry company that helps women escape sex trafficking in Asia, or Nisolo, a shoemaker committed to net neutral carbon production.

We make sustainable shopping more affordable with exclusive sales events, discount codes, reward programs, and a sales page that automatically puts every product that one of our partner brands marks down in one spot on our site–so DoneGood users can always easily shop sales from dozens of brands at once.

And all orders ship carbon-free so that we can further minimize our environmental footprint.

The Market & Our Traction

Leading The Way In Sales, Sustainability, and Social Impact

The sustainable goods market is big—and rapidly getting bigger.  Market research shows that “EcoActives” (consumers consciously seeking to live more ecofriendly lifestyles) “represent a $376 billion opportunity that brands would be foolish to miss.” (source) Sustainable product sales have increased at nearly *triple* the rate of non-sustainable products since 2015, and sustainable items are driving one-third of ALL growth in consumer goods sales.  But there’s a problem: while 84% of consumers said that finding sustainable products is important to them, only 17% say it’s easy to find the sustainable products they want to buy. (source)

DoneGood solves this problem by making sustainable shopping easier and more affordable, and is poised to capture meaningful market share in the rapidly growing sustainable goods category.

Since launching our online marketplace, DoneGood has had almost 2 million site visitors and over 8,000 customers. We've generated over $2.5M in sales on our platform. At present, the company is partnered with over 120 brands – up 30% year-over-year – and we continue to expand our selection daily.

Meanwhile, DoneGood is quickly gaining recognition for its social and environmental impact. The company has received multiple B Corp “Best For The World” Awards, is an alumni of the Harvard Innovation Lab business incubator program, and has won cash prizes at competitions at Harvard and MIT. We’ve been featured in multiple national media outlets, including The Washington Post, The New York Times, CNBC, CBS This Morning, Fast Company, WIRED, Mashable, and Forbes, which credits DoneGood with “creating the Amazon for social good” (source).

As consumer demand for sustainable goods continues to grow, we believe the Amazon-alternative serving this growing market stands to become a very large and lucrative business.

Why Invest

Join Us On The Journey To Becoming A Powerful Force For Change

DoneGood believes that the dollars we all spend are the world’s most powerful force for change. Americans donated $327 billion to charity in 2021 (source)—but we spent over 40 times more than that buying stuff (source). That means if just 2% of the dollars we all spend can reduce poverty, fight climate change, and help make the world better in other ways—that could do as much good as all the donations to all the non-profits in the country combined.

*This testimonial may not be representative of the experience of other customers and is not a guarantee of future performance or success.

Looking to the future, our team knows what’s needed to grow our business and has a focused plan to do so. With this crowdfunding round we aim to triple the number of sustainable brands on our site and invest in proven organic marketing channels to expand our conscious consumer community.

Every purchase made on DoneGood helps someone lift themselves out of poverty, fights climate change and supports eco-friendly business practices. So your support helps us do more good for people and the planet.

We believe that the dollars we all spend (and invest!) are the world’s most powerful force for change–so the platform that helps people use their purchasing power for good will be the most impactful force for change of our time.

That’s what we’re all building together. Join in by investing today!

NEW UPDATES

05.31.23

New Partners Just Joined!

Some amazing new companies recently joined DoneGood. Each ultilizes highly innovative techniques to make really unique and high-quality products—and with production practices that cut waste, reduce carbon emissions, and create high-paying jobs.

Check out the latest brands to sign on on to sell on DoneGood.com:

Windmill Air

Produces a/c units that utilize more efficient air flow, eco-friendly refrigerant, and dual-filtration to cut global warming emission by up to 68%—and cut electricity bills at the same time.  The company also invests in tree-protection programs to further offset carbon emissions of every unit sold.

Wishbone Design Studio

A family-owned business that creates kid's bikes, wagons, and walkers unlike any we’ve seen before. Their production follows Circular Economy principles—all materials are upcycled or regenerative (i.e. source materials are being renewed at a faster rate than they’re used). Every item is built to last, so they can be handed down from kid to kid for many years (unlike too much of the low-quaulity, mass-produced stuff that ends up in a dump WAY too quickly these days…).

AmourLinen

A woman-owned brand making  “farm-to-home” bedding and apparel from 100% OEKO-TEX certified linen (meaning no harmful chemicals—a lot of typical bed sheets and other linens are filled with formaldehyde and other toxins!). Their farms and production facilities are all within a couple hour drive from each other to strengthen quality control, reduce carbon footprint, and ensure healthy work environments for their above-fair-trade-wage-earning production teams.

Bee & Alpaca

Uses excess, perfectly good textiles to create apparel that keeps materials out of landfills.  Each design is produced in limited quantities to reduce waste (which also means you’re gonna be one of the few people in the world to own a particular item). To cut water usage, traditional dyeing methods are swapped for direct print technology, and 100% of the company’s emissions are offset via carbon certificates.

tonlé

A pioneer in zero-waste fashion production. Scrap material is recycled into new fabric. Once fabric has been recycled enough times it no longer meets tonle’s quality standards, it’s recycled into paper—meaning literally no waste is created throughout tonle's entire production process. And original materials are sourced from recalimed items that would've gone to the landfill, so the more tonle products are purchased, the less waste there is in the world. tonlé purchases have saved half a million pounds of perfectly good textiles from being trashed, so far.

Your investments help us add more partner brands like these to DoneGood.com more quickly.  Site and survey data shows that the number one way to improve purchases on our site is to increase product selection. With capital from a successful crowdfunding campaign, we plan to triple the number of brands and products on our site (to over 300 total) by mid-2024.

Invest today to help us  support more innovative good-for-the-world brands like these, and to keep growing our business—the company Forbes called "The Amazon for Social Good."

A Revenue — and Impact — Milestone

We’re really glad to announce this to you here first: DoneGood has now officially passed $2.5 million in gross sales.

That’s a great milestone for an early-stage startup.

And for us, it’s also a major milestone for the social and environmental impact we set out to achieve.  On our team, we call gross sales “Dollars Diverted”—because every time we sell a product, we’re diverting consumer spending away from typical supply chains and instead to companies that use incredibly ecofriendly production, pay living wages, and support good causes with every purchase.

So $2.5 million isn’t just a sales figure.  It means our community has generated millions of dollars that have helped people working to lift themselves out of poverty, fight climate change, empower women, provide for children in need, and help create new economic systems that make our world better.

Your Investments Do More Good

Your investments helps us accelerate the growth of Dollars Diverted.  Capital from this crowdfunding campaign means we can increase investments in successful marketing channels, and substanially increase product selection by hiring more team members to triple the number of brands on our site in 2024 (which data shows is the #1 way to increase purchases on DoneGood).

That means we can significantly grow revenue—and the good for people and the planet we can all do together.

Thank you again to the hundreds of you who have invested already.

If you haven't yet, please consider clicking over to our campaign page today to learn more about the $300 billion+ sustainable goods market, and why an "Amazon for Social Good" (as Forbes called DoneGood) is poised to become a large business—and do a lot of good for people and then planet at the same time.

Video: Why a Senior Capitol Hill Advisor Quit His Job

Hi everybody, the StartEngine team suggested I make a video telling the story of how and why I started DoneGood... so I grabbed my phone and did a quick one.

This is the story of how I went from a suit-wearing, clean-shaven communications director and spokesperson for members of Congress, to instead believing that the dollars we all spend are the world's most powerful force for change (and why we think that's something people of all political stripes can believe in)...

05.18.23

Purchases that empower women, feed hungry kids, provide light to dark places

Hi everybody, this is Katie, VP of Parnterships and Operations for DoneGood.  We talk a lot about how the 120 brands that sell products on DoneGood.com have all been screened by our team to ensure they're protecting the planet, paying good wages, and supporting other good causes.

But today we wanted to tell you the stories of just a few of those brands so you can really get to know the amazing ways that companies on DoneGood make an impact:

STARFISH PROJECT
Makers of really meaningful jewelry who invest 100% of their profits into helping women escape sex trafficking, giving them good paying jobs making jewelry, and providing them skills training to move on to professional careers!

NISOLO
A Certified B Corp that always pays 100% living wages and produces 0% net carbon. To reduce overconsumption, Nisolo uses durable, sustainable materials to make timeless, long-lasting shoes & accessories—so we can buy less over the longrun. That's better for the planet, and our budgets.

TIKIRI TOYS
Unlike too many toymakers, Tikiri uses only 100% organic and non-toxic materials—so you can be at ease when your child puts that toy right on their tongue (and you know they will...!).  Every doll purchased generates a donation of meals, clothing, and education to girls in a Sri Lankan orphanage.

Grace Farms Foods

Modern-day slavery (i.e. human trafficking) is still a $150 billion a year industry.  Grace Farms fights back by making incredibly good organic and fair trade coffees and teas—and then dedicates 100% of profits to ending forced labor worldwide.

UNDER THE CANOPY
Bed and bath essentials that are ecofriendly, fair trade, organic and always at a great price.  Under the Canopy is consistently one of DoneGood's topselling brands—because they've mastered the nexus of quality, sustaianability, and affordability.

MPOWERD
An innovative company creating solar-powered inflatable lights, phone chargers, speakers, USB-rechargeable batteries, and other clean consumer tech products—with every purchase helping to provide clean energy lighting to people around the world who lack access to electricity.

If you invest on StartEngine, you must like helping entrepreneurs build great new companies.  When you invest in DoneGood, you're not just helping one company grow—you're helping over 120 entrepreneurs at the over 120 brands who sell on DoneGood, all as incredible as the ones above, succeed as well (and with funds from this crowdfunding campaign, we aim to triple that number to over 300 brands on our site in 2024).

I'm glad to have a chance to say hi to y'all here, and to say thanks to the over 200 of you who have invested already!  I really appreciate you.

New NYU Study: Sustainable Goods Sales Growing Twice as Fast as Alternatives

A new study from NYU’s Stern School of Business adds to the overwhelming body of research showing that the market for sustainable goods continues to grow rapidly—and further demonstrates that an Amazon-alternative for this growing market, like DoneGood, has huge growth potential.

NYU researchers found:

  • Sustainable product sales are growing at double the rate of non-sustainable items
  • Sustainable goods are now driving one-third of all growth in consumer packaged goods sales (despite making up a much smaller market share of all CPGs)
  • 93% of consumers plan to maintain or increase their purchases of more sustainable products next year

A recent study from Kantar showed that “EcoActives” (consumers seeking to live an ecofriendly lifestyle) “represent a $376 billion opportunity that brands would be foolish to miss.”

Nielsen previously published a groundbreaking report that predicted a coming revolution in consumer purchasing behavior, saying: “Commitment to social and environmental responsibility is surpassing some of the more traditional influences for many consumers. Brands that fail to take this into account will likely fall behind.

There’s a sea change underway.  Consumer demand for sustainable goods is starting to explode.

Yet when shopping online, while 84% of consumers said that finding sustainable products is important to them, only 17% said finding the sustainable products they want is easy.

DoneGood solves this problem.  We make it easy for the rapidly growing group of conscious consumers to shop the way they want by putting thousands of products from 120+ sustainable brands all on one site (with more products and more brands being added all the time).

We believe it’s clear that the Amazon-alternative for the rapidly growing sustainable goods market has the potential to be a very large business—and Forbes called DoneGood “The Amazon for social good.”

Your investments help us continue building the Amazon for the growing sustainable goods market. In the next year we plan to triple the number of brands on our site and increase investments in successful marketing channels—to help more people support more brands that make a positive impact for people and the planet.

If you haven’t invested yet – if you invest before 5 p.m. Eastern this Sunday (May 14) you can still take advantage of the final Early Investor Bonus.

Thanks very much again for being here with us.

Making Sustainable Shopping More Affordable

A big part of our mission is to make sustainable shopping more affordable and more accessible to more people. Some ways we do that:

  1. Automatic markdown aggregation: Any time one of our 120+ partner brands marks down a product on their site, our tech platform automatically adds the item to the Sales page on our site—so people can always easily shop deals from across the sustainable world, all in one place on DoneGood.

  2. Discount codes: We work with our partners to get DoneGood users exclusive discount codes (find these on product pages on our site).

  3. Rewards program: Earn gift cards as you shop on DoneGood, help others do good with their purchases, and take other actions.
  1. Major sales events: We organize major sales events where our partner brands markdown their items 33% - 60%, exclusively on our site.  Our next major event will run opposite Amazon Prime Day: the Better Days sale is better than Prime Day – you still get great deals, but every purchase also helps create better days for people and the planet
(sign up for our newsletter and follow us on social media to know when all the big sales are).

Thank you again for joining us in the cause of helping people build a better world with their purchasing power.  We appreciate you being here.

$100k Already!

Holy cow y’all. Thank you. We just publicly announced our campaign on Monday, and by Wednesday night we were already over $100,000 raised!

Obviously the funding is important for our company’s growth.  Along with that though, it’s just so encouraging that so many of you (over 150 investors now!) believe in what we’re working to build.

We believe the dollars we all spend as consumers can be the world’s most powerful force for change.  Americans donated $327 billion to charities last year—but we all spent $14 TRILLION buying stuff.  That means if just 2% of our purchases could help reduce poverty, fight climate change, make the world better—that would do as much good as all the donations to all the nonprofits in the U.S. combined.

We're building a platform that makes that possible.  Your investments help us grow so that more people do more good with their purchasing power.

Quick reminder on bonus shares: Invest before 5 p.m. EDT this Sunday (May 7) to get 10% bonus shares. Investing early also helps us keep this momentum rolling, and we really appreciate that too!

Thank you so much again for joining the cause.

After looking at your financials it appears that there wasn't much revenue growth from a year ago and that your expenses were higher, what is your plan to become profitable in the future? BTW, I love the business concept and what you're doing with it.

Dont let anyone worry you about the bonus shares. Its clear there are a few new users here, bonus shares are always added on at the very tail end of the raise, when the final distribution to the company occurs and the funding can be considered “closed” If the funding round doesnt close, or gets extended by filing of forms, the bonus shares will post to the account on deal close. If the deadline gets pushed back your shares will still show up, just later

I’m wondering how you are growing then revenue is almost stagnant YOY. You should be growing fast enough that 120 shops is already outdated by a week from now. I think you need to accelerate your analysis of data and increase brand outreach. What are your specific plans for any of this?

Hi Cullen, I'm wondering why there is no "Loyalty Bonus" offered for those of us who invested earlier in the company (as in 2018). Thanks. Blessings

A few questions: 1. Are you a for-profit company? 2. What's your eventual exit strategy? IPO? getting acquired?

WHY STARTENGINE?

REWARDS

We want you to succeed and get the most out of your money by offering rewards and memberships!

DIVERSE INVESTMENTS

Invest in over 200 start-ups and collectibles!

With Regulation A+, a non-accredited investor can only invest a maximum of 10% of their annual income or 10% of their net worth per year, whichever is greater. There are no restrictions for accredited investors.

With Regulation Crowdfunding, non-accredited investors with an annual income or net worth less than $124,000, are limited to invest a maximum of 5% of the greater of those two amounts. For those with an annual income and net worth greater than $124,000, he/she is limited to investing 10% of the greater of the two amounts.

At the close of an offering, all investors whose funds have “cleared” by this time will be included in the disbursement. At this time, each investor will receive an email from StartEngine with their Countersigned Subscription Agreement, which will serve as their proof of purchase moving forward.

Please keep in mind that a company can conduct a series of “closes” or withdrawals of funds throughout the duration of the campaign. If you are included in that withdrawal period, you will be emailed your countersigned subscription agreement and proof of purchase immediately following that withdrawal.

StartEngine assists companies in raising capital, and once the offering is closed, we are no longer involved with whether the company chooses to list shares on a secondary market, or what occurs thereafter. Therefore, StartEngine has no control or insight into your investment after the close of the live offering. In addition, we are not permitted to provide financial advice. You may want to contact a financial professional to discuss possible investment outcomes.

For Regulation Crowdfunding, investors are able to cancel their investment at any point throughout the campaign up until 48 hours before the closing of the offering. Note: If the company does a rolling close, they will post an update to their current investors, giving them the opportunity to cancel during this timeframe. If you do not cancel within this 5-day timeframe, your funds will be invested in the company, and you will no longer be able to cancel the investment. If your funds show as ‘Invested’ on your account dashboard, your investment can no longer be canceled.

For Regulation A+, StartEngine allows for a four-hour cancelation period. Once the four-hour window has passed, it is up to each company to set their own cancelation policy. You may find the company’s cancelation policy in the company’s offering circular.

Once your investment is canceled, there is a 10-day clearing period (from the date your investment was submitted). After your funds have cleared the bank, you will receive your refund within 10 business days.

Refunds that are made through ACH payments can take up to 10 business days to clear. Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of the bank, but we will do everything we can to get you your refund as soon as possible. However, every investment needs to go through the clearing process in order to get sent back to the account associated with the investment.

Both Title III (Regulation Crowdfunding) and Title IV (Reg A+) help entrepreneurs crowdfund capital investments from unaccredited and accredited investors. The differences between these regulations are related to the investor limitations, the differing amounts of money companies are permitted to raise, and differing disclosure and filing requirements. To learn more about Regulation Crowdfunding, click here, and for Regulation A+, click here.
