Aqua Equity Water

Reasons Icon

We honor our past while owning our responsibility. Aqua Equity is doing our part to build a sustainable future with 100% recyclable aluminum bottles.

Reasons Icon

The $86B bottled water market is expected to grow more than 7% over the next 4 years.* As consumer behavior trends are moving rapidly away from single-use plastic bottles, we believe our aluminum packaging creates a long-term advantage for Aqua Equity.

Reasons Icon

As a black and woman minority-owned company, Aqua Equity is a social enterprise dedicated to enriching opportunities for the under-resourced community of Watts, CA. A portion of all profits go towards education and community initiatives.

A Social Enterprise & Bottled Water Brand Created to Give Back

Aqua Equity Water exists to invest in under-resourced urban communities through the sale of mineral enriched and mountain spring water.

Good work to us means giving back for a good cause. Along with our environmental efforts to lower the amount of plastic pollution by using 100% aluminum bottles, we also pride ourselves on our dedication to community and education. Because everyone deserves clean, sustainable water - no matter where they are from.

Coming from an under-resourced urban community himself, Founder Ryan Morgan felt the impact of a neglected community in his early years. Determined to follow a different path, Ryan pulled through the setbacks and earned a marketing degree from the University of San Diego and a MBA from Concordia University. He would go on to spend twelve years in the alcohol beverage industry working for two of the largest suppliers on the globe, where he was responsible for net sales of over $34 million. Yet, Ryan noticed a lack in representation around him.

Created to address this gap, Aqua Equity Water was launched in March 2020 with the help of Brandon Espy, Krystal Jackson, JT Rogan, and Brandon "Stix" Salaam-Bailey.

Today, Aqua Equity’s hyperfocus on giving back to the community has gained the brand a respected following and interest from major corporations. We believe Aqua Equity is capable of making an important impact, and as we share our mission with the StartEngine community, we are excited for others to join our story as we seek to change the landscape of bottled water.

The Problem

Social Equity Gaps are Impacting Urban Communities

Under-priviledged urban communities commonly suffer a number of setbacks that disproportionately affect black and brown residents. Having experienced this first-hand, Aqua Equity founder Ryan Morgan was determined to write his own story.

In addition to the disparity in education that can stunt early development and limit professional opportunities, there is a major lack of green spaces, and city-owned housing and public areas are often neglected. With this neglect comes environmental impacts, such as pollution and unsafe drinking water which can cause health problems.

Aqua Equity seeks to improve these social equity gaps by providing clean, sustainable, and accessible bottled water, with a portion of all sales going towards education & community initiatives in the company’s local neighborhood of Watts, CA.

The Solution

Mineral-Enriched & Mountain Spring Water with a Purpose

Aqua Equity honors our past, but owns our responsibility to build a sustainable future by using 100% recyclable and forever-reusable aluminum bottles. We offer both mountain spring water and mineral-enriched, electrolyte enhanced water, purified through reverse osmosis for a clean and crisp taste.

Our “drink good, do good” mission is driven by our 3 pillars: Environment, Education, and Community.

Environment: Aqua Equity water is sourced from local aquifers helping to reduce carbon pollution, while our aluminum packaged cans are recycled at a rate of more than 20x that of plastic bottles. Additionally, we've spearheaded an annual community clean-up in an effort to bring a positive environmental change to the Watts neighborhood.

Education: Through our community partners such as THINKWATTS, GYRD, WATTS HEALTHCARE, and HACLA, we have educational programs in entrepreneurship and financial literacy, fitness clinics in boxing and basketball, and community events like health fairs and food drives.

Community: Portions of every Aqua Equity product purchased are given back to a socially disadvantaged community. We pay homage to Watts on our bottle due to the rich history of a one time promised land for Black prosperity during The Great Migration. With each sale, Aqua Equity is rebuilding that dream by working collectively with the community.

We have a business model similar to other major philanthropy-driven for-profit brands, however we feel that our personal connection to our mission and the backing of our community sets us apart from other social enterprises.

Our target market is corporate B2B - specifically corporations that are seeking to align themselves with BIPOC businesses as a way of giving back. We are currently on Amazon through the Black Business Accelerator.

The Market

A Growing Market Full of Environmentally-Conscious Consumers

In 2022, the U.S. Bottled Water Market is projected to amount to $86 billion dollars and is expected to grow annually by more than 7% for the next 4 years (source).

As the topic of sustainability becomes more prominent, consumer trends are showing a shift away from single-use plastic bottles and packaging (source). With a focus on our environmental impact from the start, we believe Aqua Equity possesses a long-term advantage in the market with our forever-reusable aluminum packaging.

Our Traction

We Have Doubled Our Number of Major Corporate Customers in the Last Year

Aqua Equity is grateful to the corporations who have purchased from us. Within the last year, we have been able to double our number of major corporate customers.

We’re growing our reach in the local area, having acquired a total of 30 restaurant clients as of May 2022.  Aqua Equity Water is also available today on Amazon, as a partner within their Black Business Accelerator program.

The funds from this raise will be directed towards our goal of owning a bottling facility in the Watts area. Accomplishing this would increase our efficiency and help lower the cost of goods for our products, additionally aligning with our mission statement, as we would look to hire local members of the community.

Why Invest

Aqua Equity is Empowering Under-Resourced Communities

There has been a recent awakening to address the social and economic equity gaps in America that are affecting underserved communities. We started Aqua Equity for this reason, and being able to set an example for our fellow BIPOC entrepreneurs would be a proud accomplishment for our team.

Within the next five years, we believe Aqua Equity has a chance to become one of the country’s leading premium bottled water brands. With the 2028 Summer Olympics taking place in Los Angeles, our goal is to be one of the official bottled water brands of the event.

We hope you join us on our mission to "drink good and do good" by investing in Aqua Equity Water today.

With Regulation A+, a non-accredited investor can only invest a maximum of 10% of their annual income or 10% of their net worth per year, whichever is greater. There are no restrictions for accredited investors.

With Regulation Crowdfunding, non-accredited investors with an annual income or net worth less than $124,000, are limited to invest a maximum of 5% of the greater of those two amounts. For those with an annual income and net worth greater than $124,000, he/she is limited to investing 10% of the greater of the two amounts.

At the close of an offering, all investors whose funds have “cleared” by this time will be included in the disbursement. At this time, each investor will receive an email from StartEngine with their Countersigned Subscription Agreement, which will serve as their proof of purchase moving forward.

Please keep in mind that a company can conduct a series of “closes” or withdrawals of funds throughout the duration of the campaign. If you are included in that withdrawal period, you will be emailed your countersigned subscription agreement and proof of purchase immediately following that withdrawal.

StartEngine assists companies in raising capital, and once the offering is closed, we are no longer involved with whether the company chooses to list shares on a secondary market, or what occurs thereafter. Therefore, StartEngine has no control or insight into your investment after the close of the live offering. In addition, we are not permitted to provide financial advice. You may want to contact a financial professional to discuss possible investment outcomes.

For Regulation Crowdfunding, investors are able to cancel their investment at any point throughout the campaign up until 48 hours before the closing of the offering. Note: If the company does a rolling close, they will post an update to their current investors, giving them the opportunity to cancel during this timeframe. If you do not cancel within this 5-day timeframe, your funds will be invested in the company, and you will no longer be able to cancel the investment. If your funds show as ‘Invested’ on your account dashboard, your investment can no longer be canceled.

For Regulation A+, StartEngine allows for a four-hour cancelation period. Once the four-hour window has passed, it is up to each company to set their own cancelation policy. You may find the company’s cancelation policy in the company’s offering circular.

Once your investment is canceled, there is a 10-day clearing period (from the date your investment was submitted). After your funds have cleared the bank, you will receive your refund within 10 business days.

Refunds that are made through ACH payments can take up to 10 business days to clear. Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of the bank, but we will do everything we can to get you your refund as soon as possible. However, every investment needs to go through the clearing process in order to get sent back to the account associated with the investment.

Both Title III (Regulation Crowdfunding) and Title IV (Reg A+) help entrepreneurs crowdfund capital investments from unaccredited and accredited investors. The differences between these regulations are related to the investor limitations, the differing amounts of money companies are permitted to raise, and differing disclosure and filing requirements.
