Reasons to Invest

Bone Haus Brewing is a company on the move with overall growth of 30% YoY from 2019 to 2020 during the pandemic including over 120% growth YoY in wholesale sales in an isolated industry!
Bone Haus Brewing is poised to become a true lifestyle brand with deep customer engagement, high-quality products, and a cohesive, emotionally binding vision of the brand.
Growth in revenue for Bone Haus Brewing is steadily increasing as Q1 and Q2 for 2021 were between 66% - 75% up YoY.

The Problem

A truly overwhelming demand for our beer

To put it simply, our beer is in higher demand than our current production setup can meet. We are somewhat limited through these production constraints on securing more large-scale wholesale customers, like local grocery stores and large restaurant chains. We are in a just-in-time production scenario with our larger existing wholesale customers which often restricts the amount of beer styles available for our retail sales in our tap room. Without additional capacity, we would not be able to supply additional large wholesale customers as it is a struggle to keep up with our current setup.

With the rapid expansion of our wholesale business (over 120% throughout the last year) and increased tap room traffic, we are having difficulty keeping up with demand for our beers both in kegs and in cans. While we haven’t missed any turns, production schedules are often in a hurry-up-and-wait scenario. Currently, we can only have 4 beers fermenting at any given time in 10 BBL batches at a maximum. While we can keg out beers as they finish fermentation and carbonation, we have to use a third party canner to can our beer. These constraints and a lack of flexibility (working around hard canning dates) can result in 25 - 30% unrealized production per month. By adding our own canning solution, we would then be able to aptly supply additional large wholesale customers.

We also have a very manual process for brewing our beers with our current equipment. While we are able to customize our orders and approach brewing creatively, our current process is time consuming and laborious. There are many efficiencies and consistencies that could be gained through simple automation and better equipment in the brew house, which would give us the ability to fulfill bigger wholesale orders.

THE SOLUTION

Scale up our infrastructure and capitalize on our momentum

We tackled our issue with inflexible canning dates by purchasing our own small canning line. This canning line will be activated and integrated into our daily operations by end of August 2021. The line allows us to package any beer at any time, whenever the beer is ready. We will need to upgrade the entire brew house at some point in the near future and go to a 20 BBL or 30 BBL brewing system and additional larger fermenters to hold that brew batch size. With an upgraded brew house capacity through investment, we would then look at automating and relieving some of the brew processes including grain preparation, water supply efficiencies, spent grain removal, and fermentation control.

With production constraints reduced with better capacity and flexibility, we can then in earnest pursue local grocers like Safeway and Bashas to carry some of our Arizona-specific flagship beers like Desert Distortion New England IPA, Englemann’s Elixir Prickly Pear Pale Ale, and Carbide Light Blonde Ale. We could then dedicate a salesperson to the big box stores like Total Wine, Safeway, Bashas, AJs, Whole Foods, and large chain restaurants like Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers.

Lastly, we have first right of refusal on the building we are currently leasing so, as we grow, we are able to expand into the suites next to us. With sufficient funding, we are able to extend our 3350 square foot space up to 8,000 square feet by taking over the entire building. By simply adding 2,000 square feet, we would be able to create a cellaring area for production, a permanent canning line, a permanent grain crushing station, a secondary cooler for expanded wholesale business, as well as a dedicated keg cleaning station. We would be able to add 20 BBL or 30 BBL fermenters along the backside of the facility while extending the retail space in the front side of the building. This allows us to maximize production and increase retail sales for beers, events and merchandise. The additional space would also allow us to add a stage for ticketed events while keeping the tap room open.

OUR TRACTION

Steady growth in an emerging market

*Sales information is for Bone Haus Brewing by Skullenwink LLC and its wholly owned subsidiary Bone Haus Brewing LLC, both referred to as Bone Haus Brewing.

Our small operation has been generating stout revenue since our inception. While we were only open for eight months in 2018, we generated $126,291.54. In 2019, we generated $367,017.67, and in 2020, we generated $475,541.02, despite the pandemic. Our Q1 revenue for 2021 is $184,124.07 (roughly 42% up YoY,) and in April 2020, we had the best month we’ve ever had as we exceeded $75,000 in one month.

In Arizona, where Bone Haus Brewing operates and sells, craft breweries sold $1.2 billion in beer throughout 2020 which ranks 22nd in the nation. Arizona craft breweries produced 181,006 barrels of beer in 2020. Bone Haus Brewing also ranks 51st out of 91 guild members in 2020 production volume as reported by the Arizona Brewer’s Guild only after being in operation for 3 years. (Source)

In September of 2020, we landed our first big box store customer, Total Wine & More. We also supply a local high-end grocery store called AJ’s Fine Foods and local Whole Foods. This milestone has really increased not only our wholesale income but also has positively sparked interest in our tap room and retail space. Many new customers tell us they tried a 4-pack of our beer from Total Wine & More and just had to come visit the tap room!

THE MARKET

It’s not just a beer, it’s an experience

In the United States, the overall beer market is $94.1billion and the craft beer market is $22.2 billion (with a 12.3% market share). Craft breweries produced 22.8 million barrels of beer in 2020 (Source). Microbreweries, the classification for Bone Haus Brewing, were responsible for 18.8% of the 22.8 million barrel production volume in 2020.

We differentiate ourselves from any other brewery with deep branding, customer engagement, and the fulfillment of great tasting beer. When a customer walks into our tap room for the first time, they are usually in awe at the decor and the attention to detail in the theme and brand. We make everything on brand, even down to the restroom fixtures. We even try to hide the necessary technology as best we can since we are themed on a fictional history of legends and lore from the late 1800s in Arizona. At Bone Haus Brewing, we don’t just want you to have a great tasting beer; we want you to have an experience.

Bone Haus knows that a beer’s brand needs to go beyond the taproom, and our can artwork ensures that. Our black background label presents a contrasting backdrop for our colorful and striking artwork. The macabre style of artwork on each label has a vignette that expands the Bone Haus story, what we call The Bone Haus Chronicles. Each chronicle details the legend of Hans Von Biermann who inspired the Bone Haus brand. Also, every beer can artwork has a hidden number 13 that we challenge all of our drinkers to find. These labels are designed to first attract the eye of the customer amongst a very crowded retail space, engage them with the artwork and story, and deliver upon consumption with a delicious, high quality beer.

Many breweries rely solely on their beer to get and retain customers which certainly can work, but we believe deeper customer engagement by forming a connection to the community alongside a high-quality, satisfying product is our winning formula. We believe that our beers are just an extension of our love for adventure and the community. That’s why we offer fun beer schools for the public, live music, and even yoga classes! We know that our connection to the community is the source of our success, which is why our three-pronged approach will lead to a deep connection with our customers and allow us to grow larger than most through the brand and fulfillment of those great tasting beers.

WHY INVEST

A story that spans the nation

Our grand vision is to elevate the Bone Haus brand to a national level. We envision having multiple locations across the country that absorb the local legends and lore of their respective territories into a Bone Haus story and localized brand. It is our belief that once you create a special and unique destination with high quality products, you can expand on that idea and make it relevant to multiple local communities. Through a network of genuine, local connections, we will make Bone Haus Brewing a favorite in the nation. Become an investor in Bone Haus Brewing and help us bring our story to new heights.

New Beer Launch! Dutchman's Dream Aurum American Pale Ale

We just launched Dutchman's Dream American Pale Ale, now available in the tap room and online to 7 states! This American Pale comes in at 5.1% ABV and 48 IBU and is brewed with tropical flavors of mango and passionfruit for a refreshingly fruity, summery ale! This brew features Meridian hops for a slightly bitter finish - perfect for poolside in the summer!

"In recent weeks I have approached miners, vagrants, vagabonds, and locals, asking them for any information about a 'Dutchman' that might have explored these parts. Many clearly do not want to share what they know.  I dream the Dutchman's Dream, the realization of finding a productive vein of minerals, preferably that of gold - the almighty Aurum. I am sure my uncle spent many nights awake in this same dream."

Bone Haus wins Best of the Valley!

Our Sonoran Shimmer Helles Lager was voted Best of the Valley by Phoenix Magazine! This contest is determined by reader votes and submissions, and we are honored that our fans showed their support!

Sonoran Shimmer is a beautiful light lager brewed in the traditional German style. It is perfect for summer days by the pool, hikes and sitting around a campfire which makes it a staple in our taproom. We also have a number of golf courses that keep it on tap year-round as the perfect beer for a day out on the course.

Made in the Shade!

We spent our weekend up in Flagstaff, Arizona at the Made in the Shade beer festival. We brought our Desert Distortion NE IPA and our Englemann’s Prickly Pear Ale, and they were both a huge hit!

It was a fantastic opportunity to expand our footprint into Northern Arizona and introduce Bone Haus to over 2000 people.  One of our goals is to expand our distribution across the state of Arizona and events like this help us create demand for our beer in these areas.

Brew Haus Expansion!

We are so excited to share with you that we have completed our first of many planned expansions to our brew house. After a 7-month wait we finally got our new tanks delivered! Our current brew house was running at maximum capacity and demand for our beer was rapidly outpacing our production so these tanks were an essential upgrade to our facility. Funds through this campaign were essential in helping provide this expansion! So many thanks to our investors!

We have already hooked up one of the five new fermenters and it is up and running in our current space! The remaining  tanks will be hooked up once we complete our square footage expansion over the summer. This increased volume allows us to complete two additional brew days in a month which means more beer!

Hilton's Hollow Marshmallow Porter - New Beer Release!

We just released a new beer we're all excited about - Hilton’s Hollow Toasted Marshmallow Porter! This porter is the perfect summer dark beer with hints of chocolate and a soft toasted marshmallow finish reminiscent of summer bonfires.

Hilton’s Hollow pays homage to one of Arizona’s only female mining prospectors – Jennie Hilton who discovered and operated a gold mine in the Huachuca mountains. She sold her mine for $35,000 in 1896 which was an enormous sum of money for the time.

This beer is available on tap and will be available in cans soon so make sure to come by and check it out or order online off our website!

Beer School is the Best School!

On the second Tuesday of every month, we host beer school at our Tap Room in Fountain Hills, AZ. Beer school is led by Rachel Benkowski – our Certified Cicerone. Attendees receive a flight of four different Bone Haus Beers. They are then taken through a guided tasting process where Rachel educates them on hop/malt profiles, color, aroma, different adjuncts and what to expect from each style of beer. And as a formally educated historian, Rachel also shares beer history with each tasting! We switch up which four beers are included each month and are consistently selling out this awesome event!

If you find yourself in town – make sure to purchase a ticket and join us for an hour of beer and learning!

Your investment funds have helped us purchase and install a new glycol chiller with plenty of power to handle our planned additional fermenters! This chiller will allow us to keep a multitude of fermenters at the appropriate temperatures for our fermentation process! Thanks to Tempe Crane for their skills in getting this beast into place! Bone Haus Beer Garden at the Fountain Hills MusicFest

This weekend was a blast! The Bone Haus Brewing team ran the beer garden for the Fountain Hills Music Festival as the exclusive alcohol vendor. This music festival featured 2 days of music with 6 different bands including national acts from Nashville and Los Angeles.

We did a specific canning run just to supply this event and brought three different beer options – El Jefe Phantasma, a Hefeweizen, Baron of Arizona West Coast IPA and Sonoran Shimmer, a German Helles Lager. In total we went through 130 cases of beer which is 3,120 individual cans!

Bone Haus at Punk in Drublic Craft Beer and Music Festival

Our skeleton crew had a great time serving up our beer at the Punk in Drublic Craft Beer and Music Festival in Mesa, AZ this past weekend! This nationwide traveling festival features 3 hours of craft beer tasting from local breweries along with an all-day punk show featuring NOFX and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes!

We brought our Red Wraith Irish Red IPA and Copper Crypt Imperial West Coast IPA and poured through a full keg of each by the end of the craft beer tasting. Music is a key  One of the coolest parts about doing events like this is connecting with craft beer lovers and music fans and then seeing them come visit our taproom after engaging with us. Music is so important to our crew at Bone Haus and we had a blast!

Pistols of Roulette Launches!

We have a new beer release this week – Pistols of Roulette Coffee Vanilla Stout!  This decadent stout is brewed with Maris Otter fine malts and German chocolate wheat malts for a deep yet smooth mouthfeel and taste. Top that base with Madagascar vanilla and freshly brewed coffee and it's a delicious dark beer to enjoy before the summer months hit! It is available both on tap, poured on nitro and in cans to take home and enjoy. The lovely coffee flavors make this beer the perfect pairing for Sunday brunch! If you do get cans of Pistols or any other of our beers, make sure to share a picture of your enjoying your brew on social media and use the hashtag #beerfortheadventure to be featured on our pages!

And as far as the story goes... this beer features Roulette, the fearless protector of the Bone Haus crew.

From the journal of Hans Von Biermann: "Roulette is herself a weapon and knows how to wield power from any firearm, any blade, or any other item. Our group has lately been harassed by an outlaw known as Randy Rango. As with all threats to our mission and goals, the pistols of Roulette (and rifles) are lurking about, keeping our interests on track and unabated. For now she is simply monitoring ol' Rango but rarely is that where it ends."

Bone Haus Brewing at Arizona Strong Beer Festival!

Our team had a fantastic time last weekend at the Arizona Strong Beer Festival. This was our second year participating and our first year attending with Crescent Crown Distribution. We were able to share our beer with over 7,500 attendees.

We brought two of our most popular specialty beers to showcase – Desert Demon and The Lord of Misrule. Desert Demon is our Triple New England IPA that packs a punch coming in at 10% abv (it is the STRONG beer festival after all). The Lord of Misrule is a cookie spice ale which is a unique style that offers a smooth drinking experience and 7% abv.

Our favorite part of doing events is having the chance to get our beer out there to more people and continue to engage with the amazing beer culture here in Arizona. We have already seen a host of new customers in the tap room who tried our beer for the first time at Strong Beer!

Why Bone Haus Brewing?

We have 2 months left in our campaign! If you are on the fence about investing, let us tell you why we think Bone Haus Brewing is an investment opportunity worth considering.

Consistent Growth: Our brewery has seen consistent year over year growth since opening our doors in 2018. We were even able to grow 30% during the pandemic year. With our new distributor partnership with Crescent Crown Distributing and the expansion of our production facilities, we are poised to continue to expand and grow our revenue.

Strong Leadership: Our leadership team is full of people who not only have a passion for beer but also strong backgrounds and experience with scaling companies and running a business. We have diverse skill sets present that allow us to cover all aspects of our business from brewing to marketing to production planning. The team here at Bone Haus Brewing is execution focused and ready for growth.

Deep Branding: We are highly committed to our brand and put branding at the center of everything we do. This branding allows consumers to recognize and resonate with our products in the market. The uniqueness of the brand allows us to stand out when compared to other brews on the shelves. Recent feedback from retailers that work with our distributor and from our recent launch events has been tremendously encouraging!

If you’ve already invested, we thank you. If you haven’t yet we welcome you on the journey and look forward to having you!

Owner Spotlight: Keith Chapman

We understand that when you choose to invest in a company you are not only buying into the brand but also buying into the leadership team. We want to take the opportunity to introduce you to one of the co-owners behind Bone Haus Brewing – Keith Chapman.

Keith is the Chief Marketing Officer for Bone Haus Brewing and the creative mind behind the legend and story of Hans Von Biermann. Prior to starting Bone Haus, Keith ran research and development for Fender Musical Instruments Corp and he brought his love for music to Bone Haus with live music in the taproom and a playlist where every song is hand-selected. His inspiration for the design of Bone Haus Brewing is from his travels to European catacombs and old churches where human skeletons are built into the frameworks of the buildings in an artful and respectful way blended with his deep interest in the diverse history of Arizona's mining and wild west era. He takes his 20+ years experience working day-to-day with world-class marketers to build the Bone Haus brand and vision. When he is not at Bone Haus, he is living the slogan of Memento Mori by skateboarding, hiking and playing guitar.

New Beer Release: The Lord of Misrule Christmas Cookie Ale

What do you do with all the leftover cookies that Santa couldn’t finish? Well at Bone Haus Brewing we turned them into our new seasonal release – The Lord of Misrule Christmas Cookie Ale. This beer clocks in at 7% abv and 13 ibu making for a smooth drinking experience. The cookie flavor comes from the addition of Dutch Speculoos butter which gives the drinker the sensation of enjoying a spiced biscuit cookie.

The lore of this story dates back to the merging of Pagan and Christian holiday traditions where every year a peasant was given the title of The Lord of Misrule to preside over the festivities. This individual was treated as royalty for the duration of the holiday season and waited on by those of high society to atone for their sins of the year. If someone refused the Lord entry and services, they were to be tormented with mischief as punishment.

The Lord of Misrule has been released on tap and in cans and will only be available for a limited time!

Happy New Year from your Skeleton Crew at Bone Haus!

Wow – 2021 has certainly been a crazy ride! Launching this campaign was a huge milestone for our team this year and we are so grateful for the support we have received so far. The traction from this campaign has allowed us to start the process of expanding our brewing capacity – including hiring a new brewer as well as updating equipment. We also ended the year by partnering with Crescent Crown Distribution, one of the largest distributors in the country.

2022 is looking bright for Bone Haus. We plan to kick off the year by starting construction on the property next door to our current location. The first phase of this build-out will be primarily focused on increasing production capacity by adding a dedicated fermentation room, barrel aging rooms and a cooler exclusive for wholesale product. This expanded capacity will put us in a great position to pitch our beer to grocery store chains in the fall of 2022.

This crowdsourcing campaign will run until April of 2022 so there is still plenty of time to join the Bone Haus family and come on this adventure with us! We appreciate each and every one of our investors – we couldn’t do it without you!

Bone Haus Brewing Partners with Crescent Crown Distribution!

We are very excited to announce that we are closing out 2021 with a new distributor – Crescent Crown Distributing. Crescent Crown is the largest distributor in Arizona and one of the largest in the United States, distributing more than 30 million cases annually. They will be carrying four of our flagship beers as well as rotating seasonals throughout the year. The four core beers they will be carrying are: Desert Distortion NE IPA, Lichii Blood Orange IPA, Englemann’s Elixir Prickly Pear Ale and our Carbide Light Blonde Ale.

This partnership will allow us to significantly grow our wholesale footprint in Arizona, reaching bigger retailers and more beer lovers. The funding we have received so far from this campaign will allow us to expand our production capabilities to meet this increased demand. Thank you for coming on this journey with us – we could not do it without your support!

This decadent imperial stout features rich flavors of maple and chocolate with a boozy finish, clocking in at 10% ABV. Taliesin West Launches with Bone Haus Brewing

We are excited to announce our latest partnership with Taliesin West in Scottsdale, AZ. Taliesin west is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the winter home and laboratory of architect Frank Lloyd Wright that is open to the public for tours and private events. The estate was established in 1937 and built solely by hand by Wright and his apprentices. Deeply connected to the desert and using only local materials, Taliesin West possesses an almost prehistoric grandeur.

The Bone Haus team has been hard at work collaborating with Taliesin West to brew a beer unique to their estate that they can proudly serve to their 100,000 plus visitors each year. Their beer is a German Style Helles Lager that is both light and flavorful. The inspiration for this beer came from touring Taliesin West where the openness of the architectural design allowed for the rooms to be filled with bright sunshine and fantastic views. The label for this beer features an architectural drawing of the main building done in the favored colors of Taliesin West.

The continued support and generosity of our investors allows the Bone Haus Brewing team to continue to make meaningful brand partnerships and get our beer into more hands. If you are in the Scottsdale area, make sure to stop by Taliesin West to try out their newest Bone Haus Brew! We are proud to be associated with such a prestigious brand!

We Have Reached Our First Milestone!

We are officially one quarter of the way to our total investment goals! We cannot thank all our investors enough for their generous contributions to Bone Haus Brewing. This first major milestone will allow us to do several improvements around our brew house to increase both production and efficiency.

We plan to use this capital to:

  • Purchase a new, more powerful chiller for our glycol system which keeps our fermenters at temperature and will allow us to expand the number of fermenters on the system for more production volume.
  • Build a new electrical backbone to support the new chiller and other infrastructure for both the existing and future production systems.
  • Convert our current warehouse space into an extended cold side of the brew house for adding more fermenters.
  • Improve our current water system for both cold and hot storage. This improvement will allow us to do double batch brewing!
  • Purchase 4 new 20BBL Fermenters for the new warehouse expansion area to increase our production capacity!

Updates will be shared as these improvements take place and we are confident that it will be money well spent!

If you are considering investing in Bone Haus Brewing - now is a fantastic time to start. Our next major milestone we are looking to hit is $500,000 and this funding will allow us to expand our footprint and move into the open space next to our current brewery. This space will consist of a new cooler to store our fantastic beer at temperature as well as an increase in retail space to allow for larger customer capacity and exclusive events. More beer is always better and this next expansion will greatly increase our production capacity as well as tap room capacity!

What’s Brewing this week at Bone Haus!

With another wonderfully successful Skull-o-Ween Halloween celebration behind us, we have a busy week coming up here at the Bone Haus. Our brewing team is hard at work brewing some of our flagship beers including:

Desert Distortion Episode 9 New England IPA: The latest in our Desert Distortion Series this beer features BRU-1, Chinook, Sabra and Simcoe hops!

Desert Distortion Lichii Blood Orange Hazy IPA: A fan favorite in our Desert Distortion family that features all the fantastic qualities of a Hazy IPA but with the addition of blood orange to give this beer it’s signature rose red color and fresh citrus flavor. Did you know that Lichii means “red” in Navajo? One of the common misconceptions of this beer is that there is Lychee fruit in it when in fact the name is paying homage to the local Native American tribes in Arizona.

Sonoran Shimmer Helles Lager: This crisp light lager is made in the Helles tradition coming out of Germany. If you are looking for a light beer with more body and flavor than your traditional domestics this is the beer for you!

Englemann’s Elixir Prickly Pear Pale Ale: This is one of our flagship beers that is always in high demand  – and for good reason! This Pale Ale is distinctively Arizona and is made with prickly pear fruit which gives it a light fruity flavor and pink appearance as well as Madagascar Vanilla for a creamy mouthfeel.

When you invest in Bone Haus Brewing you are investing in a diverse lineup of beer that is brewed with premium ingredients and unique flavors/styles. There really is a Bone Haus Beer out there for every beer drinker... and maybe some non-beer drinkers too! The Bone Haus Skeleton Crew pictured above as vikings on Skull-o-Ween thanks all of you that have invested in our adventure!

Celebrate Halloween with an Investment in Bone Haus!

Celebrate Halloween by Investing in Bone Haus Brewing!

Our favorite time of the year has arrived! When it comes to Halloween, we go all out here at Bone Haus Brewing. Our Skull-o-ween festivities include live music, costume contests, food trucks, a Bone Haus theme (this year it’s Vikings!) and of course our infamous Head Harvester Pumpkin Pie Amber Strong Ale. This beer is brewed once per year and clocks in at a boozy 13% ABV and 31 IBU. Each year we switch up this beer a little to keep things interesting. The special addition for 2021 is using fresh, wet Crystal Hops. These hops were cut from the vine, overnighted to us, and brewed with the very next day!

One of the ways we plan to use the funds raised in this campaign is to expand our facility to allow our Skeleton Crew to host larger events and grow the Bone Haus family. We look forward to you joining us and many thanks to those that have already invested!

Thanks for the Great Start!

Welcome! Your Bone Haus Skeleton Crew thanks our early investors for such a great start to our campaign! In less than one week, we have reached 20% of our goal! That's fantastic news as we ramp up production for our busy season. There are less than 6 days left to claim bonus units on the early bird bonus program. This will be the last chance for investors to receive bonus units when investing so act soon!

The crew has been busy brewing our very popular Sonoran Shimmer Helles Lager, a delicious German-styled lager that has become a staple in the tap room and with several wholesale customers. On deck in the brew haus is Desert Distortion Lichii, one of our most popular versions of our New England IPA with blood orange. We've also successfully integrated our new canning machine into our production process and are already starting to see some efficiencies in our production!

We have booked several key beer events for the amazing Arizona fall weather and look forward to our busy season at the tap room! Once again, thank you for the early support!
