Reasons to Invest

PRODUCT: Full contact football, the most valuable US professional sport, and unique new no-helmets no-pads format that draws younger viewers
TRACTION: Entering 7th Spring season, 4 Divisions, 20 Teams, 600K+ social media followers, 120M+ video views, and major press coverage
PARTNERS: Relationships with Twitch, Facebook Watch, WAVE.tv, and FITE TV

The Problem

The NFL’s loss of younger fans - combined with its now well-known risk to players’ brain health - have created a massive opportunity for a new approach to the US’ most popular professional sport

While the NFL remains the most popular and profitable US professional sports league, its fanbase is aging, as many young fans turn to e-sports and other options, and viewers of all ages have grown uneasy watching the league since learning of the devastating effects of its style of football on players brains including chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

Between 2000 and 2016, the average age of an NFL fan increased from 44 to 50.  Meanwhile esports have exploded and younger fans are more and more likely to follow PewDiePie and Ninja than Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers to watch their favorite gamers’ Twitch and YouTube channels than watch full length NFL games with their fathers and grandfathers.

But advertisers covet younger demographics, especially those aged 18-34, while still appreciating live sports’ ability to drive enthusiastic large audiences to appointment viewing. Existing leagues have twisted themselves into knots trying to solve this puzzle because as more kids spend time on their gaming systems, their interest in traditional sports decreases. And that’s especially true with NFL football, which many parents - aware of the danger of brain injury - will no longer allow their young boys to play.

In a study of the brains of 111 former NFL players, 110 of them were found to have CTE, a degenerative brain disease that has been shown to result from repeated blows to the head. This issue has pervaded into popular culture in the form of major motion pictures, and has become a dominant issue in the media’s coverage of the NFL and NCAA games.

People are fed up by the NFL’s handling of this issue, as well as the weekly displays of head-to-head hits which cannot be eliminated despite the NFL’s public endeavor to bring safety into the game. This is a futile effort, since as long as players are wearing modern day armor — in the form of heavy pads and helmets — they will always feel invincible enough to target the skulls of their competitors.

The Solution

No helmets = no head-to-head hits

By removing helmets and bulky hard shell pads from the game, the A7FL has created a new football format that highlights the players’ athleticism while maintaining the full-contact, action-packed games that fans crave. Moreover, it creates a more personalized game (a distinction we’ve emphasized in our production and marketing) perfect for social media that we believe also successfully avoids most head-to-head contact and the devastating effects it has on players.

We have tweaked and honed our 7-on-7 football to be the ideal sports product for the modern era. While increasing excitement by narrowing the playing field and structuring the league to emphasize hyper-local rivalries, we’ve further addressed player safety by taking away the kick-off and kick-return (the most dangerous plays in football). At the same time, the A7FL’s in-your-face style creates head-turning highlights and emphasizes the athleticism of its “everyman heroes.” In a nod to street basketball, it’s been called “The Rucker League for Football”...and rightly so.

Now entering our 7th season (we played so successfully during 2020 that our covid protocols were featured in Forbes), in 2021 we’ve expanded from our base in New Jersey and Maryland/Baltimore to Southern California and Orlando. Teams from within each city compete against one another during the course of a 7-week regular season that starts in April. Then the 2 best teams in each division face off in a 4-week playoff, culminating in July with our National Championship. The local element of our league increases fan interest, while giving us flexibility (as we proved while playing during the pandemic) and drastically cuts down on travel costs.

The Market

The Sports Market draws tens of billions of dollars in revenue each year

The sports market eclipsed $71B in revenue in 2018 and is expected to rise to $83B in 2023.

The NFL took in just under $15B in 2018, while top NCAA football programs like Texas and Ohio State can notch revenue totals surpassing $200M each year. Live media rights are expected to account for over $22B in revenue as the limited supply and increasing competition from new digital and OTT platforms drives up the price for live sports. And we believe the NFL’s new 10-year television/digital deals virtually ensure that our league will face limited football competition as new distributors and established broadcasters all look for unique and compelling programming to drive viewers to their platforms.

Our Traction

Already a  video and social media sensation, we’re growing all facets of our business

Through our first six seasons of A7FL football, we’ve seen our content reach over a combined 120M people on social and other digital media and our social media accounts have attracted more than 600K followers.

We have secured key partnerships with distributors including Twitch, Facebook Watch, WAVE.tv and FITE TV; we’ve increased our internal marketing and production capabilities while adding outbound sponsorship sales and media relations capabilities.  In the 4th Quarter of 2020, our videos featured on WAVE.tv delivered in excess of 22M video views and when ESPN’s SportsCenter shared one of our highlights, it went viral and netted over 20M views and 30K comments.

In addition to our Northeast teams, we’ve added San Diego and Orlando divisions for a total of 20 teams when our 7th season launches on April 11, 2021.  We’ve also restructured our league for future growth (we not only have 8 additional teams ready for 2022, we are planning to add new markets by licensing territories to new team “owners”).  As a result, for 2021 we’ve increased local registration revenues, added new processes for our teams and divisions (including our first ever combines/tryouts around the country) and boosted new player safety controls.

The Business Model

Media licensing, sponsorships, merchandise and ticket sales make up our revenue base

While our product is something new, our business model leverages the success of other established sports leagues. The tried and true combination of rights licensing, sponsorships, merchandise and ticket sales produced a monthly revenue during the 2019 season of approximately $5K. For 2020, we matched those numbers while playing a mid-pandemic tournament-style season with 4 teams. And for 2021, we’ve moved to 20 teams, increased player registration fees and implemented a new content distribution strategy.

Each Sunday, we’ll fully produce 4 games from our NJ Division, while focusing on highlights from our other 3 divisions. This will enable us to cost-effectively build up our content library while also delivering top-notch live games for our various distribution partners. Our 2 Sunday afternoon Games of the Week will premiere this season on FITE TV (with a unique pay-per-view model) while the day’s early game will serve as pure promotion via Facebook Watch and our Sunday Night Football package will enable us to partner with yet another network.

We were proud to be the one of the first football leagues back in action in 2020. Our players not only felt safe with our comprehensive Covid protocols established through our partnership with OZ Technologies and their Salus health status solution, we were able to offer $2,500 in prize money to the winning team (the largest prize in the league’s history). For 2021, we’ve increased that 8X to $20,000 to enable us to increase the already high quality of our players. As we move to the next stage of our development with more eyeballs and attention, we look to turn those standout players into our Stars.

For 2021, we are moving to further ramp up our existing revenue streams (please see our financials in our filing for full details regarding 2019 and 2020) - built on a base of league expansion, new distribution partnerships and increased emphasis on high level production, marketing and outbound sales. In the future, we envision deriving further revenues (and creating additional content and developing new fans) from our additional divisions.

How We Are Different

Unlike past NFL competitors, we believe our product is unique with a clearly differentiated football format

Since the NFL-AFL merger way back in the 1960s, every upstart football league that has attempted to take a piece from the NFL’s massive pie has failed. We believe that's been due to their inability to provide a truly unique stand-alone product.

A7FL's football product blends the positive attributes of the NFL, such as the full contact athleticism that punctuates our always popular highlight videos, but with a new twist that provides a totally unique look and feel. And while our gameplay reduces the dangers to players, it also attracts the younger fans advertisers most desire, In fact, 76% of our fans are ages 18-34, roughly twice as many as the NFL.

*This image was created internally to highlight public data currently available about both the NFL and NFL Flag leagues.

The Vision

128 teams in markets across the country

In the next five years, we plan to scale the A7FL with teams across the country. In these markets, we’ll recruit top former high school and college players to retain the local component of our league that our fans absolutely love.

With this resulting increase in the number of A7FL games each season, the league will continue to leverage its strong social media presence to create bona fide stars out of our top players.

And as we build stars and add new markets, we plan to capitalize on opportunities in gambling, fantasy and e-sports to further build our brand.

*This image includes possible future team and division locations.

Our Team

Founded out of a love of the game

Co-founder Ryan DePaul was forced to end his college football career early due to suffering from concussions, and spent the next decade developing rules for a new league that doesn’t force its players to choose between their long-term health and the game they love.

He joined up with childhood sandlot football pal Sener Korkusuz, the founder of SaaS company Earth Skater, and the two founded the A7FL in 2014. Korkusuz brings the experience of building a company and brand from the ground up, while DePaul is a model representative for the league, having lived the life of its players.

In 2019, UFC Co-Founder David Isaacs came on as Advisory Board Chairman. Isaacs saw massive similarities in the upstart football league to the early days of the UFC and decided to join up and assist in creating the future of yet another sport.

Why Invest

We are looking toward the future

While the NFL remains America’s dominant sports league, we believe nothing lasts forever.

We’ve created an exciting new football format that appeals to younger viewers, drives video views and attracts attention and social media followers. In doing so, we’ve also created a safer alternative to the NFL which over the long term will appeal to athletes, parents and fans concerned about players’ brain health.

As we enter our seventh season, you have the chance to be a part of a future-oriented league. We are football for the digital, online and shareable age. Join us and grab a piece of the action.

Safety-First Football League To Launch Season Next Saturday
January 1, 2017

Hoping to fill two vacuums simultaneously, the American 7's Football League, or A7FL, will begin its inaugural season next Saturday. While the players will not be paid, the A7FL seeks to satisfy the insatiable longing for football in America until NFL training camps open in July with a March-to-June eight-game schedule.

Can this new football league be the savior the sport needs?
March 30, 2016

As I drove up to Baltimore on a rainy, cold day in March to watch the Baltimore Cobras of the American 7s Football League play in a scrimmage, the words of A7FL co-founder Ryan DePaul kept running through my head. “We want to save football. We want to save the world’s best sport.”

San Diego Tribune Tackles American 7s Football League

Tackle football without helmets?
San Diego team wraps up first season

Playing tackle football without helmets or shoulder pads may not jump to mind as a social good, but after a San Diego security guard recently tackled a would-be car thief onto a Mission Beach parking lot, he said his readiness is owed to the 7-on-7 full-contact games he enjoys on Sundays in Santee.

“I believe if it wasn’t for football, I wouldn’t have the mindset to do those things in the heat of the moment,” said Marquis Clanton, 26.

Meet the Americans 7s Football League, now finishing its seventh year of staging games minus helmets and hard shoulder pads.

Responding to a notice, Clanton formed a San Diego expansion team that’s completing its first six-game season in the 20-club A7FL.

Not wearing protective gear, said the former Kearny High player, actually has made for less hazardous football, while also solving football hunger and improving fitness.

“It’s kind of like a high school passing league but with tackling,” Clanton said. “It’s a lot of action, I enjoy it very much.”

Teams from four states are vying for a $20,000 purse.

Likened by league adviser and Ultimate Fighting Championship promoter David Isaacs to a Rucker League for football, the sport has attracted characters such as a 300-pound running back and a fitness buff who dubbed himself Herschel Walker and travels from L.A. to New Jersey to play.

The league will present unique sponsor messaging integrated into its games – which air live on FITE each Sunday during the A7FL’s regular season and playoffs concluding with the league’s National Championship on July 18 – and as part of its popular social media presence.

In addition to its New Jersey and Baltimore teams, the A7FL has now added two new divisions, one in Florida (based in Orlando, the largest US market without an NFL franchise) and the other in Southern California (in and around San Diego). This increases the league’s current number of divisions to 4 with a total of 20 teams. The league recently announced its plan to add 4 additional divisions for 2022 with applications for new owners open now until June 14 at A7FL.com/EXPANSION and the final announcement scheduled for July 18 during the league’s 2021 Championship Game.

A7FL® Partners with Joe Hand Promotions to Bring Spring Football to Restaurants and Bars

Boca Raton, FL (April 21, 2021) - For sports bars and restaurant owners whose customers are craving some football, the American 7s Football League announced they are offering a free “Game of the Week” doubleheader on Sunday, April 25 through a partnership with Joe Hand Promotions. The A7FL® Kicks Off New Season on FITE

Full-contact, no helmets, no pads, 7-on-7 football kicks off its 7th season on the top streaming sports provider with two “Games of the Week” every Sunday; 20 teams, including recently added Florida and Southern California expansion divisions, will compete beginning April 11

Asbury Park, NJ (April 7, 2021): The American 7s Football League® (A7FL) and FITE today announced that two A7FL Sunday “Games of the Week” will be presented live exclusively by FITE, the premier global digital platform for sports and entertainment, for the fast-growing league’s 2021 season beginning on April 11. Each Sunday during the league’s regular season and national playoffs, FITE will present the A7FL’s pioneering, no-helmets, no-pads, full-contact tackle football on Pay-Per-View with two top matchups along with look-ins from games being played around the country. As an added bonus, FITE is making the first two weeks of the upcoming season completely free.

The 2021 season follows a successful tournament format that took place this past summer which showcased the A7FL as the first football league to resume play during the pandemic. The A7FL’s unique rules retain the toughness and excitement that fans crave while also delivering action-filled games and mind-blowing highlights,  bringing the sport to the attention of millions of new fans while also catching the attention of SportsCenter, Snoop Dogg and Deion Sanders. The A7FL piloted its FITE relationship by presenting a classic matchup featuring perennial league powerhouses the PA Immortalz vs the NJ Savage on March 21st, leaving FITE fans impressed and wanting more American 7s content.

“There’s a lot of ways to look at A7FL,” said Michael Weber of FITE. “Some say people like it because it’s how we all grew up playing the game in parks and streets. One thing we found for sure in March is that combat sports fans really like it.”

In addition to its New Jersey and Baltimore teams, the A7FL has now added two new divisions, one in Florida (based in Orlando, the largest US market without an NFL franchise) and the other in Southern California (in and around San Diego), where the season is scheduled to start on April 18th.  This increases the league’s current number of divisions to 4 with a total of 20 teams.

“There’s a huge crossover between A7FL and MMA fans,” said David Isaacs, UFC Co-Founder and Chairman of the A7FL’s Advisory Board. “Partnering with FITE enables us to reach these diehards where they already go for fights and wrestling.  And now they’ll have the chance to experience what the A7FL is all about.”

For its April 11 opening day matchups, FITE will present two “Games of the Week” starting at 1:30 PM ET with Trenton BIC vs. Baltimore Cobras. The Cobras are led by Derrell “BONE” Harris, one of the league’s most versatile players, who will line up against a stacked BIC squad that features legendary running back Courage Mozie as well as 2-time A7FL MVP Matt Riddick and Ashante Worthy, the A7FL 2020 Rookie of the Year and 2018 New Jersey High School Football Player of the Year.

FITE’s second game at 4 PM ET will pit the New Jersey Savage vs. Old Bridge Hawks. The Hawks feature a talented pair of running backs, former New Jersey high school sensation Michael Liberti and the always dangerous Khaleel “MambaStackz” Greene. They’ll face a tough Savage defense led by standouts Olajuan “Olay” Bell and Isaac “iSack” Negron.  Both games will be shown live from Asbury Park, NJ, where the A7FL has an extremely dedicated and engaged fanbase.

A7FL Combines Deliver Big Hits Across the Country

The A7FL concluded its first ever open combines across the country between February 20 (first Florida event) and March 7 (New Jersey). The events were designed to introduce new players to the American 7s game, evaluate their skills and help fill out the rosters of both new and existing teams prior to the launch of the league’s 7th season on April 11.

“Since we’ve added 2 divisions this year, we really needed to see what the new players would bring to the league,” said Sener Korkusuz, A7FL Co-Founder and CEO. “ And were impressed - we had over 100 players participate so we got a really good look at them. Plus we captured training footage and interviews with a new crop of up-and-coming players who we hope will become our next group of stars.”

Along with seeing the player in action, the combines provided the opportunity to hear the players’ stories and they ran the gamut: from a high school baseball player looking to reinvent himself as a quarterback, to a lifetime football player now a high school head coach, to a former marine who has become a screenwriter and practices multiple martial arts. And perhaps the most unique background belongs to David Bailey - a Brooksville (FL) city councilman who will join the A7FL playing alongside his son. “These players don’t just play four years of big-time college ball and then get drafted,” said A7FL Co-Founder and President Ryan DePaul. “They come from all over, literally from any background. All they need is the the talent and desire to get out there and mix it up.”

The combine series also provide an opportunity for the league to develop its local press relationships. For example, Advisory Board Chairman and UFC Co-Founder David Isaacs provided San Diego’s leading morning TV show with an extended interview about his local combine. In another, President DePaul was featured on New Jersey’s News 12.  These new players and the local news coverage about the combines puts the league on a solid foundation as the league’s focus shifts to its April 11 season opener.

Set to Chronicle the League’s Evolution,

Matt Ryan Proclaims “This is the Future of Football!”

As it prepares for the launch of its 7th season on April 11, The American 7s Football League announced today the addition of a weekly opinion column by Matt Ryan to its content offerings. Ryan, who has previously brought his unique play-by-play announcing style to the league’s broadcasts, is well known across social media for his sharp wit, humor and perspective on everything from mixed martial arts and pro wrestling to football and baseball.

“It’s great to have someone with Matt’s long term view on both sports and pop culture focusing on the A7FL,” commented David Isaacs, UFC Co-Founder and Head of the League’s Advisory Board. “As we expand across the country, it’s the perfect moment to add Matt and his prodigious talent to our bench.”

“The A7FL fits modern sports and social culture like a glove,” commented Ryan.  “The game is what we need now in the era of social media and I am excited not only to write about it, but watch these guys go out on the field and do some ridiculous things.”

Ryan’s first column - “Why I Love the Sport of Football” - can be found here. Going forward, new entries will be posted to the league’s website A7FL.com and across its social media accounts.

Meet Octavious Walker: Entrepreneur & A7FL Investor

Since its inception in 2014, the A7FL has attracted athletes with one thing in common: love of the game. And despite the league’s growth, it’s stayed true to those roots. Players must have more than talent, they need to possess a burning passion to step onto the gridiron on Sundays and compete at a high level in a full contact sport after a long work week (and with Monday morning fast approaching). That raw emotion and that fact that anyone who has the skills and the desire can play make the A7FL strikingly genuine – and new fans and investors are taking notice.

Last year, the A7FL launched its StartEngine equity crowdfunding campaign, it’s first outside fundraising. Despite a pandemic-delayed season, to date the campaign has raised more than $370,000 from nearly 600 individual investors. As the league prepares to enter its 7th season, this unique fundraiser offers fans around the world the first-time opportunity to invest at the ground level in a football league correctly billed as “by the people, for the people.”

Octavious Walker, one of the league’s new investors, truly embodies the league’s spirit. Currently stationed overseas with the United States Army, Walker discovered the A7FL by chance while watching football highlights on social media. “It reminded me of how we would play growing up,” said Walker. “I think that it’s definitely a sport that a lot of people can relate to who love the game.”

Walker also owns his own clothing line, POIZD, and brought his entrepreneurial spirit to the league when he jumped at the opportunity to invest. “I’m excited to see where the A7FL goes from here,” he commented.

“We’re incredibly grateful for our StartEngine campaign and the overwhelming belief in our sport,” said A7FL Co-Founder and President (and former player) Ryan DePaul. “It’s great to see so much enthusiasm for the A7FL by fans, players and now investors - like Octavius - who share our passion for our unique brand of grassroots football.”

DePaul also highlighted that the league has allocated its new funding to areas that will aid the rapid growth of the sport, adding marketing, sales and press relations expertise. And since its debut on StartEngine, the league doubled in size to 32 teams, introducing 2 new divisions in the major sports markets San Diego and Orlando. In addition, the 2021 season, beginning on April 11, will feature a $20,000 purse – the largest prize American 7s has ever offered. “This growth wouldn’t have been possible without our new investors,” concluded DePaul. “And we plan to thank them by taking this league to an entirely new level.”

Inaugural Florida Season Begins April 11

As the A7FL speeds towards the April 11 launch of its 7th season, the league’s expansion to Orlando – one of four divisions nationwide – kicks off this weekend with two days of player combines.

On Saturday February 20, the league will be in Tampa/Clearwater at The Long Center and on Sunday February 21, we move to Orlando’s Boombah Sports Complex (Moore Station Field #2). Players are scheduled to arrive each day at 11:30 AM to participate including  video interviews, testing/measurement (40 yard dash etc.) as well as live Skelly and pass rush drills. Along with registered players, any local players who want to see what the A7FL is all about are welcome to attend the combine (additional information available here)

As part of our run up to this weekend’s activities, A7FL Co-Founder and President Ryan DePaul was interviewed by WFLA 970AM (iHeart Media’s Tampa affiliate). Here’s the link to take a listen!

“After hearing so much interest from fans and athletes in Florida, it’s great to see things really starting to happen,” said A7FL Co-Founder and CEO Sener Korkusuz. “The combines are a great way to introduce ourselves to Central Florida players and our Orlando Division will be a huge addition to our league as we start to expand across the country.”

A7FL Rides WAVE.tv to Tens of Millions of Video Views!

As part of the A7FL’s expansion of its online video distribution, we announced in August 2020 that we’d partnered with WAVE.tv, the sports media company for today’s fan that reaches 250 million viewers across social media platforms including TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.

Now the results are in, and they are impressive to say the least:

 - During Q42020, WAVE.tv generated a total of 22 million A7FL video views (across all social platforms);

 - The majority of the posts were featured on Jukes, WAVE.tv’s football-focused brand that boasts 2.2M Instagram followers; and

A7FL to Expand Media Footprint & Reach New Audiences

BOCA RATON, FL, Feb 9, 2021: Entering its 7th hard-hitting season, The American 7s Football League (A7FL®), pioneering no-helmets, no-pads, full contact tackle football, continues to make significant strides on the national stage with the announcement of its appointment of sports industry experts SeventySix Capital Sports Advisory to explore new opportunities for the league’s media rights.

“The A7FL has built a huge grassroots following of football fans across the country,” remarked A7FL Co-Founder and CEO Sener Korkusuz, “As the league expands in 2021 to Florida and Southern California, we want to build on the cutting edge distribution partnerships we have to showcase our unique brand of football and our star athletes to an even wider audience.” Last season, the A7FL was available on Facebook Watch, Twitch, Eleven Sports (satellite and cable) and via WAVE.tv with widely distributed video clips from ESPN’s SportsCenter, Barstool Sports and many other outlets.

“As the major sports leagues look to reach Millennial and Gen-Z fans, the A7FL has consistently captured 18 to 34 year-olds as its core audience.”, said SeventySix Capital Sports Advisory President Dan Bravato, “We think there is a great deal of potential for this property and are excited to be working with them on distribution.”

The two organizations will work together to search for media distribution partners across the global sports landscape. SeventySix Capital Sports Advisory will see their media division lead the project. The team will bring their network and extensive experience to the A7FL in shaping their media strategy and lead conversations in the marketplace.

The league’s signature 7-on-7 format features players competing without helmets and pads, maintaining the exciting and hard-hitting elements of American football while demonstrating amazing athleticism. “It’s the way many of us learned to play in our backyards,” says David Isaacs, UFC® Co-Founder and A7FL Advisory Board Chair David Isaacs. “Removing the equipment actually makes the game safer but also takes the action to another level with great games and tremendous highlights from players looking to get their shot.”

The upcoming 2021 season will feature 2020 Champion the Patterson U looking to defend its title against a recently expanded league, with 4 divisions and a total of 32 teams across 4 states (California, Florida, Maryland, and New Jersey). Play starts on April 11, 2021, with the regular season and playoffs culminating in the National Championship slated for Sunday July 18.

Entering its 7th season, American 7s Football adds
sports, entertainment and lifestyle specialist as PR agency of record

BOCA RATON, FL, Jan 27, 2021: The American 7s Football League® (A7FL), pioneering no-helmets, no-pads, full contact tackle football league, has named public relations and brand consultancy NRGized Media as its agency of record. Led by founder Marlon LeWinter, NRGized Media will leverage its sports industry expertise to elevate the league’s brand and expand its fanbase via communications strategy as well as comprehensive media outreach.

“Since our 2015 launch, the A7FL has received an extraordinary amount of organic press exposure including outlets such as Forbes, ESPN, Barstool Sports, Sports Illustrated and many others,” said A7FL Co-Founder and CEO Sener Korkusuz, “But with our expansion to 32 teams for 2021, we have many more stories to tell and NRGized gives us that capability and much more.”

NRGized Media’s Marlon LeWinter brings nearly two decades of PR experience to the A7FL’s highlight-centric, younger-skewing brand of football.  The two-time finalist for PR News’ Platinum PR Award has executed a multitude of campaigns for notable clients including The American Cornhole League, Under Armour, Microsoft, and Timex. Prior to launching NRGized Media in 2016, LeWinter worked with Venus Williams to brand and promote her clothing line EleVen.

“I am beyond proud and excited to collaborate with Sener, Ryan, David and the entire A7FL.” said LeWinter. “We have a great story to tell - not only about our league - but our fans will truly feel a connection with our players once they learn their backstories and will enjoy supporting them both on and off the field”

The relationship with NRGized comes at an exciting stage in the A7FL’s development. In addition to a number of new business partners, the league recently announced 8-team expansion divisions in San Diego and Orlando. With these new additions, the A7FL will kick off its 2021 season on April 11 featuring 32 teams across 4 divisions (Maryland, Florida, New Jersey and Southern California). Following the league’s 7-week regular season and 3-week playoffs, the 2021 A7FL National Champion will be crowned July 18.

About the A7FL: The American 7s Football League (A7FL) has pioneered a familiar yet completely new format for America’s most popular sport: 7-on-7 football without helmets or hard shell pads. American 7s’ thrilling highlights and compelling content attract fans of all ages and drive a new younger audience of consumers while generating tens of millions of views. American 7s Football League Launches In Central Florida

Player Registration Deadline February 7 With 7th Season Starting April 11

For Immediate Release – January 18, 2021

(Palm Beach, Florida) - The American 7s Football League® (A7FL) -- pioneering no-helmets, no-pads, full-contact tackle football entering its 7th hard-hitting season -- continues its rapid nationwide growth with today’s unveiling of eight Central Florida expansion teams. This new Central Florida Division based in Orlando, along with the formal launch of the league’s first West Coast Division in San Diego, brings the total number of A7FL divisions to four and teams to 32, all of whom will start their 2021 season on April 11.

“We’re excited to expand beyond our Northeast base,” said A7FL CEO Sener Korkusuz. “Orlando is the 50-yard line for football crazed Florida, which is filled with passionate fans and tons of gridiron talent.  It is the largest US metropolitan area without professional football so the A7FL is going to fill that gap. We’re proud to bring the A7FL and its unique on-field enhancements to  the Sunshine State.”

The A7FL enters 2021 with more than 600K social media followers and distribution via Facebook Watch, Twitch, Eleven Sports (cable and satellite), and Wave.tv.  With its incredible viral videos (ESPN’s SportsCenter shared a league video in October that generated over 20 million views); young fan base (76% are 18-34); and strong heritage (six seasons including the 2020 Back in Motion Tournament Presented by Salus); the league is primed to crown a true national champion in 2021.

The A7FL Central Florida Division includes:

Jacksonville Riptide

Orlando AlleyGators

Orlando Ghosts

O-town Orange

St. Pete SandSharks

Tampa A-Team

Tampa Bay Surge

Tampa Nightcrawlers

Player registration is now open at A7FL.com until February 7.   A7FL teams will compete for $20,000 in total prize money in 2021, the highest amount ever offered by the league.

For 2021, the A7FL will feature a 7-week regular season where eight local teams from each division (Baltimore, Central Florida, New Jersey and West Coast) compete against each other. The top two teams in each division will then square off in a four week national playoff starting June 8 with the National Championship on July 18.

2021 Key Dates include:

    Feb 7         Registration Deadline

    Feb 20       Combine Day 1

    Feb 21       Combine Day 2

    April 11     Season Begins

June 8        Playoffs Start (Elite 8)

    July 18       National Championship

A7FL’s Central Florida Division managers, Nicholas Alaimo and A7FL veteran Terrell Mitchell, are already scouting players, as well as, home field locations. Anticipation is high as the Central Florida Division teams target a whole new talent pool throughout the state -- from Jacksonville to Miami and from Tallahassee to Tampa -- to compete with traditional A7FL powerhouses, including 2020 A7FL Champion Patterson U and 2019 A7FL Champion The PA Immortalz. The rest of the league is ready and now it is up to Central Florida to see if its players are up to the challenge of American 7s Football.

“Florida is perfect for our smash-mouth, no pads, grassroots American football,” said A7FL President Ryan DePaul. “We’ve had guys from Florida contacting us for years, but talk is cheap. Now they can show how Florida football stacks up against our perennial powerhouses from the Northeast.”

New Year, New Look for the A7FL

Refined, Familiar and Aspirational - Just Like The League

The A7FL prides itself on offering a unique brand of football unlike anything ever played at the professional level. No helmets, no pads, 7-on-7 full contact tackle football with players competing for the love of the game. With nonstop hits and fast-paced action generating millions of viral video views, the A7FL stands apart, not another pale imitation and definitely not your father’s football league.

“American 7s Football elevates backyard football to the professional level,'' said A7FL Co-Founder and CEO Sener Korkusuz. “A7FL athletes grew up playing football in the backyards and parks around their neighborhoods, where the love of the game meant more than anything else. Now we’re showcasing that smashmouth style to the rest of the world and our fans just love it. As we planned the league’s expansion to 32 teams for 2021, we realized our brand needed a ‘refresh’ to reflect the A7FL’s growth and higher profile.”

In 2014, league co-founders Sener Korkusuz and Ryan DePaul created the American 7s Football League, and DePaul himself -- with input from players, Korkusuz and others -- designed the original league logo.

PAST LOGOS

“At its core, the A7FL logo represents the league’s basic elements,” said DePaul, ”The athlete, in silhouette, portrays the essence of American 7s Football. No pads, no helmets, minimalist, stripped of all non-essentials, just bodies and a ball - that’s all you need to play.” Bold, simple, elegant - the design is impactful, identifiable and memorable.

For 2021, the league wanted to improve on that classic look and so enlisted designer Logan Wiening, who had worked with the league previously as well as the NBA G League and other college and professional sports teams. Wiening, working with A7FL marketing partner Big Bullet Sports Marketing, focused on delivering a cleaner presentation with an optimized color palette and updated typography.

NEW LOGO ICON

“Complementing the new A7 icon with a bold, fresh A7FL typography gives a more complete visual branding impression,” said BBSM’s Howard Sadel. “By adding a second number 7 just under and to the right, Logan added an element of motion while speaking to the 7-on-7 play the league is known for. He did a great job incorporating the league’s old logo while creating something completely fresh that fits the A7FL’s vision for the future.”

“We’re thrilled to unveil our new logo to our players, partners and fans,” concluded Korkusuz  “We’ve got a lot more coming for 2021 so stay tuned!”

A7FL Tackles Difficult 2020, Plans 2021 Expansion

The American 7s Football League® (A7FL), pioneering no-helmets, no-pads, full-contact tackle football, not only showed its resiliency with a number of significant accomplishments during a challenging 2020 but also  continued to build its fanbase and the foundation for the 2021 season and beyond.

The global pandemic affected everyone and everything this year including sports. After pushing back the planned March start of its 2020 season, the A7FL partnered with digital innovation company Oz and its Salus solution to implement safety and testing protocols and in July launched the 2020 Back in Motion Tournament Presented by Salus. This New Jersey-based 4-team tournament was organized against a backdrop of uncertainty for all sports, and yet, according to Forbes, “It appears the risk the A7FL took in having a 2020 mini-season has paid off. Their success has drawn attention from fans as well as potential investors..” Against overwhelming adversity, the A7FL was the first football league to resume play safely with the Patterson U team taking the title.

2020’s tournament plus a weekly “In Motion” series also put the A7FL on cable and satellite TV via a partnership with Eleven Sports, along with continued live programming on Facebook Watch and Twitch, while another agreement with digital sports powerhouse WAVE.tv ensured A7FL highlights blew up across the internet. Meanwhile, SportsCenter’s social media account shared an A7FL video (going viral to the tune of 20M views) as celebrities including Snoop Dogg and Deion Sanders posted on social media they wanted their own teams.

In 2020, the league also expanded its internal marketing and production capabilities, piloting weekly studio-based news and highlight series “Inside the A7FL,” hosted by A7FL personality LJ Smith and verteran quarterback Cory Hammond. In addition, with A7FL fans now able to get their football highlight “fix” daily across multiple platforms, the league’s online following grew to over 600K with the biggest increases on Instagram (with YouTube and Facebook not far behind).

On the corporate front, the A7FL launched a successful equity crowdfunding campaign via StartEngine which enabled the league to “up its game” across the board - from increasing player prize money, to production upgrades, to investment in marketing and sales.  To that end, American 7s recently announced its new relationship with Precision Sports Entertainment to expand partnership outreach and sponsor sales. And under the leadership of UFC Co-Founder and A7FL Advisory Board Chairman David Isaacs, several key Board additions were made to fast track the league’s growth including former baseball executive Ken Lehner, veteran sports industry communications consultant Joe Favorito, and sports media executive Anthony Bailey.

As we move into the new year, the A7FL looks to continue its rapid rise with some exciting changes, perhaps the most important of which is the league’s expansion. For its 2021 season (beginning April 11), the A7FL has added two new divisions, one in Southern California (in and around San Diego) and the other in Florida (based in Orlando, the largest US market without an NFL franchise , increasing its number of divisions to 4 with a total of 32 teams. As a result, the upcoming season will have 16 games per Sunday, with 2 designated as “Games of the Week” for live national broadcast with cut-ins and highlights from around the country.  More announcements are set for the coming weeks so stay tuned!

“Many sports leagues didn’t play this year, and a number didn’t survive the effects of the pandemic,” said A7FL Co-Founder and CEO Sener Korkusuz. “The A7FL not only played but we thrived and made progress across so many different areas. As we head into a new season, we’re ready to leverage that success and take things to a whole new level!”

A7FL Hits Forbes! Keeping Players Safe

UFC co-founder and A7FL Advisory Board Chairman David Isaacs explains, “Rather than rely on a bubble, we were able to leverage our league’s local cluster structure to play in New Jersey where we had an existing eight-team division.” He clarifies that their approach, developed in conjunction with testing and technology partner Salus’ medical advisory board, was to establish a baseline using PCR (antigen) tests prior to week one. Then, create a “Covid-free biosphere” every game day by using onsite rapid antibody tests and a strict no-entry rule for those with positive tests.

“This isn’t about risk elimination,” the A7FL’s Isaacs contends. “That’s not feasible in contact sports whether we’re talking about physical injury or potential coronavirus spread. But risk mitigation and minimalization is possible,” In fact, according to him that’s why the A7FL was created in the first place and has been able to pivot so easily.

The A7FL, you see, doesn't use helmets or padding. The idea is that (unlike the NFL) when you remove the protective gear that allows players to run head first into an opponent, they won’t. They’ll employ different techniques for tackling and play to protect their heads. Isaacs compares their mini-season experiment to his time at UFC saying, “It’s all about contingency plans. Even with all our success with Ultimate Fighting, things went wrong or at least differently than we anticipated all the time, and we learned how to always be ready to adapt and try something new.”

A7FL® Launches 2021 Player Registration Expands to 32 Teams, 4 Divisions

The American 7s Football League® (A7FL), pioneering no-helmets, no-pads, full-contact tackle football, continues its rapid ascent towards the top tier of American sports, with the opening of player registration for its 2021 season and expansion into 2 additional markets: Florida and Southern California. Adding these two additional divisions doubles the league’s size and gives the A7FL a true national footprint as the 2021 season is set to begin on April 11.

These 2 new divisions will add 16 teams to the league as it expands from New Jersey and Maryland and takes the total number of teams across the country to 32. These additional teams mean that the 2021 A7FL will provide opportunities for nearly 1000 outstanding college and high school athletes to live out their dreams of playing professional football and give fans double the exciting, bone-crunching action each week. Player registration for the new teams – with the Southern California division centered in and around San Diego and Florida in and around Orlando – will begin on Monday, November 16, at 9:00 AM EST. Registration for the existing New Jersey and Maryland divisions will be the following Monday, November 23, at 9:00 AM EST. Interested players should go to A7FL.COM/REGISTER.

“The A7FL re-imagines football in a high-octane package that’s already a hit,” said A7FL Co-Founder and CEO Sener Korkusuz. “For athletes who imagine what could have been, and what still could be, we offer an opportunity. And because these guys play for the love of the game, our league gives fans the excitement they crave along with new stars and team rivalries.”

The A7FL’s new divisions are, not coincidentally, located in 2 of the nation’s largest markets without professional football teams. And they represent only the next step as the league looks to add new divisions across the country. “As our online following has exploded over the years, I’ve seen a pretty consistent theme of people wanting to watch and play our version of America’s game,” said A7FL President Ryan DePaul. “Here’s the chance to do it and show the world what you can do.”

But it doesn’t stop there. Earlier this year, the league launched a successful StartEngine equity crowdfunding campaign and is already evaluating further expansion opportunities. In October, American 7s had a video showcased on ESPN SportCenter’s social media that generated 20 million video views within just one week, received a challenge from and traded barbs with New Zealand’s famous All Blacks rugby team, and took in multiple inquiries from aspiring division and team owners, including notable personalities NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders and Entertainment icon Snoop Dogg. “We’re extremely excited about the response we’ve received to the league’s future direction,” remarked A7FL Advisory Board Chair and UFC® Co-Founder David Isaacs. “The level of engagement and enthusiasm from all over demonstrates not only what we’ve accomplished so far but also the A7FL’s sky-high potential.”

“As someone who is always looking to learn and help businesses grow, the ability to help A7FL find its voice and its place in a crowded world is going to be both fun and interesting to me,” Favorito said. “As an Advisory Board member it is nice to be able to offer up suggestions and a POV that others may not have and help give the A7FL a chance to succeed and engage in areas where it can be successful.”

Favorito will serve a key role on the growing A7FL Advisory Board, joining other notable sports and media executives and led by UFC® Co-Founder David Isaacs. “Joe brings terrific experience across a wide range of sports,” remarks Isaacs. “He’s a great addition to the A7FL as we expand to 32 teams, plan a national championship, and add new distribution partners, sponsors and fans. ”

The Results Are In: A7FL Delivers a HIT for Eleven Sports/For the Fans

As the first football league to return to play during the 2020 pandemic, the A7FL can rightly claim a unique position among sports properties. And now that the first results are in, the A7FL’s partnership with Eleven Sports/For the Fans showed once again that our no helmets, no pads full-contact tackle football draws fans, lots of fans. The viewership numbers reveal that The A7FL 2020 Back in Motion Tournament Presented by Salus performed better than almost 90% of the other sports programming that aired on the network during the same period. In the most important OTT measurement (hours consumed/hour of programming), the A7FL exceeded our most significant benchmark by almost 20%, and during the height of the tournament an average viewer stayed to watch nearly 90 minutes of action. While these numbers are still preliminary and based on a single platform, they provide strong evidence that the A7FL can drive the kind of viewership that makes networks, advertisers and sponsors very happy.

Thank you for believing in the A7FL and stay tuned to see what’s next!

Paterson U Wins the A7FL Championship!!!

Paterson U 49 vs. Hawks 7

Paterson U ended their incredible 2020 tournament run winning the Championship with an exclamation point: a 49-7 blowout 49 to 7 against a strong Hawks team. The U looked downright scary all tournament, and Sunday night was no exception. With 5 different players finding the end zone, the Paterson squad showed once again that they are stacked at every position. They steamrolled every opponent they faced during the tournament, rightfully earning the 2020 A7FL title and demonstrating to the rest of the A7FL that it would take a special team to knock them off their throne.

Paterson QB Quatrell “Huff” Huffin was named MVP of the tournament accounting for 5 TDs on Championship Sunday. He not only made good on his promise that Paterson would be crowned champs of the 2020 A7FL Back in Motion Tournament, but he also let it be known that this title is just the beginning of a Paterson dynasty. After Sunday’s lopsided win, his claims seemed more prescient than boast. But the A7FL has 16 other teams all eager to take on the new Champs, and many onlookers looked to some of the powerhouse teams from Baltimore and wondered whether they might be up to the task.

The A7FL’s 2020 Tournament enabled American 7s to be the first football league back in action.  The COVID protocol and testing regimen enabled by presenting sponsor Salus proved successful: the risk to players was mitigated, there were smaller numbers of positive COVID tests each week (including none on Sunday), and no outbreaks. “Thanks to our COVID protocols, players, and partner Salus, we were able to play our sport of American 7s Football with very little disruption,” said A7FL CEO Sener Korkusuz. “We not only showcased our league and our amazing athletes, but demonstrated a unique model of how full contact sports like football can return to play.”

The A7FL Back in Motion Tournament Presented by Salus proved to the world that American 7’s football was ready to come back and come back strong. As the country continues its return to normalcy, the first football league back in action has big plans ahead. Stay safe and stay tuned to see what’s next for the A7FL.

CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY! A7FL 2020 Back in Motion Tournament Presented by Salus

Championship Game: Paterson U (3-0) vs. Hawks (3-0)

WATCH LIVE! Sunday 8/23 @ 6:30PM ET on ELEVEN SPORTS, available in the US via DirecTV (623), For the Fans (FTF) through www.ftfnext.com or on Facebook via www.facebook.com/A7FLTV!

After three weeks of crazy football action, the 2020 A7FL title all comes down to the battle of the undefeated powerhouses with the Paterson U taking on the Hawks on Sunday at 6:30 PM ET. Although they’ve taken different paths to get here, we’ve seen these teams’ firepower throughout the tourney and this not only for the Championship but it’s also a must-see matchup.

The U goes into Championship Sunday riding some serious momentum after asserting their dominance for three consecutive weeks of the tourney. With a 3-0 record and all of their wins by double digits, the U’s explosive offense is led by their QB and 2020 MVP candidate Quatrell “Huff” Huffin. Huff has looked unstoppable in his first three performances, putting up a tourney-leading 600 yards passing, with 13 TDs and just 2 INTs. “I just have to move the ball around,” he commented.  “If I can get the ball in my teammates’ hands, you’ve seen what we can do.”

While the U’s players have a solid core from the William Paterson University team, The Hawks have been making moves to get to the A7FL’s top rung. Most important, they added legendary dual-threat QB Corey “CP3” Price this offseason which has proven to be a perfect match. Price has averaged more than 137 yards of total offense per game during this COVID-shortened season, passing for 277 yards and rushing for 135 more. He’ll no doubt give the U’s defense its biggest challenge of the tourney as they’ve managed all opposing QB’s with relative ease. Huff vs CP3 makes the Championship the best QB matchup of the season, but don’t be surprised if the Hawks lean on tournament rushing leader Mike “Sweetness” Liberti (26 carries for 175 yards and 2 TDs) to add some ground and pound to their versatile attack.

Each team also features an “x-factor” player who lines up in a variety of positions and is a threat to score whenever the ball is in their hands. For Paterson U, it’s Kareen “SilkySmoothe” Moon who has been a nightmare for opposing teams while racking up 432 total yards during tourney. “We’re just going to go out there and play U football,” said Moon regarding the upcoming matchup with the Hawks. “We’re going to dominate as much as we can and have some fun doing it.”

On the other side of the ball, the Hawks have their own veteran Swiss army knife weapon in Khaleel “MambaStackzz” Greene who leads Moon by a nose with 457 total yards this season. He’s also been a walking TD machine averaging 2 per game during the Hawk’s undefeated 202 run to the Championship. Plus this game has an even deeper meaning to Greene and the rest of the Hawks players after the untimely death of their teammate James Lowe this past year. “James would have wanted us to win this game,” said Greene with emotion, “I feel that it’s my duty to contribute and make that happen.”

SilkySmoothe and MambaStackzz are both key players to watch out for on Sunday but both teams’ rosters are loaded with talent. That’s why both teams come into this weekend undefeated — but only one can continue their winning ways and walk out with the 2020 A7FL Title. With everything on the line and two fired-up squads, this U vs Hawks match-up has the potential to be a classic so tune in at 6:30PM ET on Sunday and catch all the action!

Tune in to ELEVEN SPORTS, available in the US via DirecTV (623), Fios (597), and U-verse (1665), or For the Fans (FTF) through www.ftfnext.com which can be seen in more than 60 million households in the US & Canada with over another 10 million+ homes worldwide. WATCH FINAL FOUR LIVE - A7FL 2020 Back in Motion Tournament Presented by Salus

Football is back! A7FL Final Four Begins Sunday August 9th @ 6:30PM ET with Paterson U vs BIC!

The Paterson U (2-0) has blown out both of their opponents in the tourney, including a 47-14 win over BIC (0-2) last week.  But this rematch gives BIC a chance for rapid redemption and so, determined to step up to meet the U’s daunting force, they’ve regrouped and retooled.

One thing is certain: this will be a much different game than last week with a revitalized BIC squad looking to catapult their way past a dominant U team. Both veteran clubs know that a win in their Final Four matchup puts them in the Championship, This game has the makings of a surprise classic and fans won’t want to miss the fireworks!

@ 9PM ET Watch Hawks take on the Renegades!

The Renegades defense somehow found a way last week to contain Hawks’ living legend Corey “CP3” Price, holding him to just 29 yards on the ground. Unfortunately for them, current tournament rushing leader Michael “Sweetness” Liberti picked up the slack and rushed for 88 yards. The Renegades’ own Bash brothers, Malik “Predator” Brown and Dondre “Clowney 2.0” Haynes, and 2nd and 3rd in tackles in the tourney, respectively, and they’ll need to add even more to their impressive totals if the Renegades want to shut down the Hawks 2-headed rushing attack.

For the Hawks, CP3 looks to bounce back from an uncharacteristic off game last week where he threw two picks, something that he looks to avoid this week against a Renegades team led by The Iceman,  who is always eager to get back on the field. Look for Khaleel “MambaStackzz” Greene to play a big role again in this rematch as that veteran presence CP3 can look to especially when out of the pocket or under pressure.

With the stakes raised and playoff intensity, this clash has all the elements to be even more exciting than last week’s game.  The teams are evenly matched and while the Renegades are out for revenge, the Hawks hope to just keep on rolling all the way to the Championship. In the win or go home Final Four, this pairing is a must-see!

A7FL 2020 Back In Motion: The Tournament Presented by Salus features 4 veteran New Jersey teams — the Hawks, B.I.C., Renegades, and Paterson U —  facing off at Montclair New Jersey’s Yogi Berra Stadium. The season features back-to-back games on three consecutive Sundays beginning July 26 and culminating with a championship game on August 16. In collaboration with the New Jersey Jackals and the All American Baseball Challenge, each week features a double header of minor league baseball followed by two games of televised A7FL football.

Big Announcement Coming! A7FL 2020 Season

COVID-19 has caused terrible disruption and tragedy for our society while also highlighting Americans' love of live sports - the athletes, coaches, communities, and, of course, fans.

Since A7FL’s 2020 season starter was postponed back in April we've been working hard to find a way to return to play this year. While we are still putting the final pieces together, we want you to know that our teams and athletes are hungry to get back in action and we have a robust COVID-testing protocol that has enabled us to secure partners for production, distribution and testing. Finally, we have several potential venues in states that are at various stages of allowing sports to return.

Today, we are proud to announce to our StartEngine community and investors that the A7FL plans to be the first football league to return to play in 2020! The A7FL 2020 Tournament will span 4-weeks and is scheduled to start on July 26. And so while there is still a lot of work to be done, we hope to make a formal announcement later this week and begin playing LIVE A7FL FOOTBALL within 2 weeks.

Thank you for your support and for believing in the A7FL and stay tuned for the schedule with game times and where to watch on TV and digital!

A7FL In Motion extends a partnership which began in 2017. While this year’s season has been delayed due to COVID-19, the A7FL will resume its broadcasting relationship with FTF/Eleven Sports once the 2020 schedule comes into focus.  “Last season we reached millions of new fans with ELEVEN Sports,” said A7FL CEO Sener Korkusuz, “and we’re thrilled to build on our relationship to bring the hard-hitting entertainment of American 7s Football to even more sports fans across the country.”

The A7FL is American tackle football with a unique format (7-on-7 without helmets or pads) that combines fast-paced excitement for the fans with added safety for players. As planning for its sixth season continues, the league boasts 20 teams from New Jersey to San Diego and a large fan base across social media.

In addition to its FTF/Eleven Sports broadcasts, the A7FL is also providing weekly programming of A7FL In Motion broadcasts every Sunday night during the postponed regular season on the A7FL Facebook page (www.facebook.com/A7FLTV) and Twitch Channel (www.twitch.tv/A7FL).  “The more exposure our athletes get, the better,” said  A7FL President Ryan DePaul. “These guys love football. It's 100% passion, that’s what makes our game so exciting to watch.”

FTF – For the Fans salutes the drivers of the sports industry - the passionate, rabid fans seeking a new sports experience along with exceptional coverage.  With content partnerships across professional and college rugby; international and college lacrosse; e-sports, basketball, hockey and the world of unique sport and content, FTF is “Alternative Sports.  Alternative Programming.”

“FTF is consistently looking for original programming that stages events beyond the traditional sports landscape,” said David Gross, President, FTF/Eleven Sports.  “A7FL In Motion provides FTF viewers more than a recap of past games.  The added analysis and reaction from the players and coaches who played in the game offers new perspective and access to a deep archive of engaging content.”

FTF is available across multiple digital platforms including:  Samsung, Vizio, DistroTV, Xumo, Twitch, ZingoTV and Pluto.  FTF can be seen in more than 60 million households in the US & Canada with over another 10 million+ homes worldwide.

There is also a customized OTT app  in your local app store.  “FTFNext” is available across multiple stores including: Roku, Chromecast, Amazon Fire, AppleTV, Xbox One, iOS and Android.

2020 A7FL Season Update

In accordance with CDC guidance to postpone events involving more than 50 people and various state and local restrictions, the American 7s Football League has postponed the start of it’s 6th season. While we remain hopeful that we will be able to play our 2020 schedule in full, we continue to prioritize the safety of our fans, players, employees and partners and will coordinate next steps with public health authorities as well as other sports organizations and business partners.

"The crisis caused by COVID-19 has caused terrible personal and economic damage to our country," said A7FL CEO Sener Korkusuz. Korkusuz continued, "despite all the obstacles, the A7FL remains poised and focused on playing our 2020 season and we are evaluating all options, from pushing back the start of the season for several weeks or months to resuming competition in the Fall.  In the interim, we’ve started production on a new TV series with one of our partners (details to be released shortly) that will focus on the development of the A7FL, its amazing players and greatest games."

A7FL® Adds Veteran Baseball Executive Ken Lehner to Advisory Board, Looks to Expand Minor League Baseball Partnerships

The American 7s Football League® today announced a key addition to the league’s advisory board: Ken Lehner, a sports industry veteran with an impressive array of experience in professional athletics. Lehner joins A7FL leadership with insight gained from a variety of notable positions with teams including the Florida Marlins, the Miami Dolphins, the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

“As an accomplished leader in sports branding, broadcasting, and marketing, Ken will be an invaluable resource for the A7FL,” said Ultimate Fighting Championship® Co-Founder David Isaacs, Head of the A7FL’s Advisory Board.  “In the near term, he’ll help expand our relationships with Minor League Baseball teams and stadiums as we introduce our no helmets no pads game to a wider audience.”

Lehner has significant experience in Minor League Baseball, having recently served as President for the Atlantic League’s High Point Rockers and the Can-Am League’s Rockland Boulders. “We are extremely excited about our new connection with Ken,” said A7FL Co-Founder and CEO Sener Korkusuz, “His addition will make an immediate impact as the A7FL launches our 2020 season and continues to expand across the country.”

“I’m thrilled that Ken Lehner has joined our advisory team,” says A7FL Co-Founder and President Ryan DePaul, “His extensive background in all aspects of professional sports will help make our vision for the A7FL become a reality.”

Lehner became familiar with the league in 2017 while serving as president for the Rockland Boulders, when the A7FL held their championship game at Palisades Credit Union Park, the team’s home venue. “After watching the A7FL live, I was immediately hooked by the action, physicality and speed,” says Lehner, “I see the parallels between independent baseball and the A7FL, as both sports offer opportunities for players to grow and extend their careers on the diamond and on the gridiron.  I want to be a part of that because I believe in change for the better.  Sports will continue to evolve and as a result the A7FL is the future of football in America."
