A new opportunity for indoor velodromes around the world

Bringing fans together with home teams to cheer for, a block party atmosphere, recurring events and global exposure.

Cutting-edge technology

Forming an analytic connection to core fans and expanding audience.

Faster moving and more engaging format

Enhancing track racing presentation to make our sport easier to follow for all types of fans.

Marketing the star power of individual athletes and co-ed teams

Showcasing the unique personalities and world-class athleticism of track cycling specialists.

We've carved out a special ownership category for believers in our vision for a better sport. The first tranche will close at just $100,000 with investment costing as little as $200. Our objective is to enhance the value of TeamTrak through social media and grassroots support from the cycling community. During this timeframe, we will also continue to raise institutional capital and pursue significant sponsorship and media partnerships leading to our first TeamTrak events in 2019/2020.

From what we've learned from recent home runs in non-mainstream sports like Street League Skateboarding, Professional Bull Riding and Ultimate Fighting, we have every reason to believe that we will grow the sport and significantly increase TeamTrak valuation as we gain momentum in the marketplace. With the recent outstanding performances by American cyclists, we believe the time has never been better to create a new infrastructure and successful business model.

Our Mission is to bring the best elements of successful modern sports and business to track cycling ... now you can be a part of it!

According to the International Cycling Union (UCI), there are over 2 billion bicycle users worldwide, making cycling a unique, multi-faceted sport that attracts everyone from casual participants to world-class athletes. Despite its huge core audience, and a century-old Olympic and professional tradition, cycling has no well-recognized central league and lacks an easy-to-understand structure.

Below are a few of the most well-known events in the sport. TeamTrak has taken careful note of their successes, but we've also noted where they fall short in sustaining interest and attracting new fans. We aim to solve the limitations encountered by these events.

The Tour de France

Holy Grail of road racing. 115-year tradition and a two billion worldwide audience.  Held over a period of three weeks.

Limitations

Hard to watch, inconvenient duration, difficult to understand, especially for Americans.

UCI World Tour

Features most of the Division One pro road teams. Road Races throughout Europe, North America, the Mid-East, Australia, and Asia.

Limitations

Difficult events to cover and not well known outside Europe. Challenging financial model.

Olympic Games

Every four years. Various events in road, track, mountain bike, and BMX.

Limitations

Infrequent, confusing number of classes and events fighting for airtime, hard to follow.

UCI Track World Cup

Six annual meets each season around the world to qualify Olympic participation in each of the ten Olympic track cycling events.

Limitations

Long drawn out events with inconsistent participation by riders and nations.

Six Day Bike Racing

Indoor series of 6 or 7 "Sixes" in Europe and Australia. Modern adaptation of popular Six Day races in the early 20th century. High entertainment value, can be exciting and spectacular.

Limitations

Difficult relay format to understand and televise, no domestic U.S. presence to grow audience.

Red Hook Series

International series of four to six “fixed gear” Criteriums in the U.S. and abroad that grew out of the urban bike messenger tribe, but

now includes more traditional track and road cyclists. Focus is on entertainment and attracts good crowds.

Limitations

Niche appeal with revenue challenges

The Key Ingredients For Driving Success and Maximizing Revenue

Exciting Competition

Head-to-Head Racing

Short races with heart-stopping action and risk of high-speed crashes

Co-Ed Team Based Competition

Six regionally identified TeamTrak teams compete in each meet. 4M, 4F riders per team

Exciting, East-to-Follow Scoring

Simplified formats and rules based around shortened race durations and event continuity to keep riders and fans equally engaged

Riders As Superstarts

Riders' grit, team loyalty, explosive nature and no-fear mentality resonates with fans who form attachments and follow their favorites

World-Class Venues

TeamTrak plays in World-Class Venues – steeply banked indoor velodromes in up to 37 countries. Our sound, lighting, video, and real-time scoring technology are state of the art and enhance the show

Fan Engagement

Electric Atmosphere

Flashing lights, pumping music, exciting announcers, and dizzying speed make the TeamTrak experience unlike any other

Infield Parties

Railings at trackside and beer garden in the track center make fans feel like they're part of the show - every race has an Oktoberfest-like atmosphere

Dedicated Fan Destination

The intimacy of the facility allows fans to feel engaged. After-hours at the Velodrome get even better, when the infield becomes a natural amphitheater for dinners, concerts and more

Entertainment For All

From hardcore cyclists to casual fans, TeamTrak offers pre- and post-race parties, halftime shows, meet-and-greets, live bands and post-race concerts

Leading Edge Media

Innovative Content Capture

On-bike cameras, real-time scoring, data downloads and big screen video allows fans to watch more easily live and worldwide

Always-On Engagement

24/7 tweets and posts from riders, teams, officials and fans tell the inside story about the TeamTrak tribe. We build a story of heroes and villains, winners and losers

Omnichannel Distribution System

Every TeamTrak event will be live-streamed around the world and enhanced with traditional TV coverage, edited specials and widely distributed action clips

Content Syndication Engine

Systemized Content Syndication Engine with tiered engagement for fans ensures our ability to scale from core-to-more, creating irresistibly sharable content

Our 3 Step Media and Audience Engagement Strategy

Proof of Concept

We needed a "proof of concept" event so we contracted 42 male and female racers from 11 nations and put them into four U.S. based and two international teams that we created.

We went to the VELO Sports Center in Carson, California and ran three, 2.5 hour fast-moving sessions of 12 races each day.  We developed an innovative real-time scoring system that built suspense throughout the meet.  And we distributed a last minute livestream that attracted 37,000 views from nine countries.

We proved we had a home run on our hands.

Targeting the Core-to-More

We know TeamTrak success requires expansion beyond core cyclists to a more mass audience in the same way UFC exploded from core martial arts to mainstream media after the introduction of The Ultimate Fighter.

Our comprehensive plan is to reach the masses without alienating our hard core audience. We intend to deliver always-on entertainment for our Core to the Influencers, Casuals and the More (broad American fan base).

We’ve researched and created the core-to-more audience we’ll target.

Media Partners and Sponsors

We will reach our target audience through a comprehensive, integrated marketing effort that includes partnerships with traditional and non-traditional content distributors and alignment with appropriate corporate sponsors.

We will engage experts in brand leveraging and revenue development to create and implement the most effective  advertising and promotion campaign ever seen in U.S. cycling.

Our goal is to turn followers into fans and fans into customers.

TeamTrak Pilot Event Rider Speaks About The Format's Success

Forty-two elite male and elite female international cyclists from nine countries were selected from over 200 applicants to compete in TeamTrak’s pilot event at the VELO Sports Center in LA. Here’s what Colleen Gulick, a rider for the PA Lightning, had to say on the fan-friendly experience:

“I had friends who attended the event who knew nothing about track cycling before the weekend and left wanting to know when they could watch another race. Their feedback highlighted the electronic and real-time scoring. They loved that even if they knew nothing about cycling they were able to follow along in real time. Moreover, the team format allowed them to cheer for and have interest in every race, even those where they were unfamiliar with the riders, since they could get behind an entire team.”

Tested, validated and now building toward full launch in 2020. Follow our progress and become a league owner here.

Disruptive Forces, including World Cycling League, were at Zwift Reception in NYC

Greg LeMond, Eric Min, Dave and Mike Chauner were together at the recent Zwift reception in New York City. A gathering of disruptive forces that are committed to bringing the best elements of successful sports, entertainment and business to cycling.

World Cycling League principals have advanced the concept of Zwift Competition, Training and Performance Centers that can be created within the indoor velodromes the league is developing in Pennsylvania and Connecticut. "There can be no better place to integrate Zwift's virtual platform with real cycling experience than in the controlled setting of an indoor velodrome, a place where cyclists can congregate to learn about Zwift, try the track, train, race, buy equipment and more," said David Chauner, CEO of World Cycling League.

TeamTrak‘s First World HQ Velodrome in PA?

A huge new opportunity has emerged through the conversion of closed big box retailers like JC Penny, Sears, Kmart and others in the Philadelphia area.

"Your idea of a world headquarters for the World Cycling league is certainly intriguing. More importantly, your continued belief that the Philadelphia region, and Chester County in particular, is an ideal East Coast location for the headquarters, reflects much of what we think about the future potential of the County and how underperforming stores can be uniquely transformed. We look forward to supporting your efforts to make this a reality," Gary Smith, CEO, Chester County Economic Development Council

Cycling Needs Equality For Women

Cycling is struggling with how to advance women’s cycling: how to provide equal pay, equal recognition, equal opportunity. One promoter’s reactionary solution is to eliminate the men’s race altogether!

TeamTrak has a better solution: across the board equality. Four men and four women on each team in tough, aggressive racing where race results are counted equally toward the team’s score.

If you believe it’s time to stop the discrimination, the system has to change. Stand up for women’s equality and invest in TeamTrak here.

Anonymous Donor Helps TeamTrak Partner Non-Profit, Track Cycling

In January 2019, the USA Cycling Foundation, a non-profit partner of TeamTrak, announced a generous donation from an anonymous individual, which will help grow the future of track cycling. The foundation will use the money in the form of grants for select velodromes around the country, which will be known as Olympic Development Program Training Centers. This is a great step forward to develop new racing talent for the sport, which is important to TeamTrak.

What Will It Take?

We are excited to see the growing number of followers of TeamTrak’s Equity crowdfunding campaign.

But we would like to know why our followers are not converting to investors.

It can’t be the cost of investment. Starting at $200, what’s the big risk?

Is it because TeamTrak’s format has no precedent and is too radical to gain acceptance? That’s what they said about Facebook.

Perhaps we’re a collection of dreamers who can’t pull possibly pull it off? Study our team of experienced sports, media and cycling achievers to kill that argument.

So what’s the hesitation? Please, let us know.

Time To Shake Up Cycling!

Are you confused by unrecognizable teams that change branding every year, lack of continuity from race-to-race, race promoters throwing in the towel, women’s racing treated as an afterthought, constant doping allegations and the absence of new fans?

We are. That’s why we created and tested TeamTrak, the disruptive new track racing format that solves all those problems and more.

It’s coming in 2020. And for as little as $200 you can still own a piece of this exciting new sports property that we believe will knock the socks off “non-mainstream” American sports that are now worth millions.

Your modest equity crowdfunding commitment will demonstrate that you believe cycling can achieve unprecedented popularity. You can take the safe “wait and see” attitude or you can step up now while our crowdfunding campaign is still open.

With more major investors stepping up, media partnerships taking shape and at least two new indoor velodromes being planned, isn’t it about time you joined the revolution?

WCL CEO Talks How TeamTrak Will Fix Cycling’s Broken Business Model

World Cycling League/TeamTrak CEO Dave Chauner laid out his thoughts on how to fix the sport of cycling’s broken business model, especially in the United States, in an article posted on WCL’s official website.

“I argue that it’s time to go back to our American roots of ingenuity, invention and out-of-the-box development. Don’t get me wrong, noble attempts to improve road racing, better define criterium circuits and throw money into development of elite track riders are all critically important. But so is a truly innovative and some would say, disruptive, approach that brings the best elements of successful modern sports and business to cycling” – Dave Chauner.

California Investor Backs TeamTrak

The World Cycling League and TeamTrak, its innovative track racing format, got a year-end boost from an undisclosed individual who has made a significant six-figure investment to join WCL’s ownership team.

“This is great news and proves that there is a growing appetite for presenting track cycling in a modern, fan-friendly league format,” said WCL/TeamTrak CEO, David Chauner. “Our new partner, who prefers to remain anonymous at this point, is both a business professional and longtime cycling fan who first came to us with interest in developing an indoor velodrome in the San Francisco Bay area. By investing in the league, he will benefit from the progress we are making with WCL indoor velodromes in Southeast Pennsylvania and New Haven.”

As a new league owner, he has also secured regional owner operator rights to one of TeamTrak’s first six league teams that will be formed to coincide with the launch of TeamTrak’s first season in 2019/2020 at several appropriate indoor velodromes around the world.

Named the Bay Area Mayhem, the team will join the Connecticut Nor’Easters and Pennsylvania Lightning as one of TeamTrak’s first three league-owned teams.

Rick Mayer, WCL’s principal investor to date and owner operator of the Connecticut Nor’Easters believes that investment in the league is sure to drive more interest in developing WCL’s new model for indoor velodromes around the country. “In addition to our new partner in California, we have several parties from other cities who have contacted us about league ownership and indoor velodrome development. We have done substantial research to create designs and operating models for sustainable indoor velodromes that double as multi-use arenas that can work well in many markets,” Mayer said.

Founded on the mission of “bringing the best elements of successful modern sports and business to track cycling”, the WCL’s TeamTrak is designed as a fan-friendly entertainment format and league structure based on 2.5 hour meets among six region-based teams of four men and four women per team that can provide sustainable programming to new and existing indoor velodromes around the world. For more information on the WCL and TeamTrak, visit: https://worldcyclingleague.com/wcl-teamtrak-format.
