Our patented technologies may provide greater security, cleaner and less wasteful energy. WiGL is seeking to be incredibly efficient by using the same spectrum of radio signal networks that deliver WiFi, radar and safe laser. Our versatile capabilities were successfully demonstrated at VA Tech Research Center's Tech Talk in 2020.

The wireless and wired charging solutions market is estimated to grow to $25 billion in 2022. The massive adoption of IoT, with 31 billion devices already connected and 75 billion estimated by 2027 drives this remarkable growth. 


With an already growing outlook, WiGL plans to significantly expand the wireless transmission market even beyond current predictions. Our goal is to completely replace the traditional wired segment, yielding a total available market of over $49 billion.

Our Traction


Patented technology, with strong traction, and successful research initiatives

In 2020, WiGL was awarded a contract to demonstrate WiGL in a fighter helmet supporting a Department of Defense contractor’s demonstration. As a spin off from that effort, WiGL then proved that we can recharge a cellphone during VA Tech Research Park’s Tech Talk. Soon after, WiGL was selected and funded under an AFWERX Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract to determine specific applications of WiGL for the US Air Force. WiGL is currently awaiting funding the AFWERX SBIR Phase II for further military applications of wireless power networks. WiGL is also awaiting  additional funding from the National Science Foundation for a separate SBIR proposal supporting larger federal government applications of WiGL.

What We Do


WiGL is like WiFi for powering your devices

Imagine spending hours on the phone and by the end of the day, your smart devices are still charged without you ever having to think about it. Imagine a workplace where your team must stay connected throughout the workday, and by the end of the day, not one team member has a dead battery on their devices; phones, laptops, tablets, IPads, key fobs, earbuds, headphones. All still charged.


WiGL works just like traditional WiFi. However, instead of transmitting and receiving WiFi data, a WiGL enabled transmitter (Tx) network uses the same raw radio frequency (RF) as noise but harvests the RF noise as raw power. 


WiGL enabled Tx devices build an adhoc networks that transmits the RF to  WiGL enabled receivers (Rx) on the network, which are connected to or within a smart device. Like cellphones, WiGL Tx networks are smartly connected allowing for near endless distance. To support smarter, greener power, in the future, we plan to also produce WiGL eNERGY Units that function as a self-generating power router for eNERGY transmission that enables remote location mesh networks. Going off the grid...take your WiGL network with you.

The Business Model


All-inclusive software subscription and hardware B2B model

We plan to generate revenue through the several pillars: 


Software subscription fees range from $6.99 to $29.99 per month. For the B2B network channels and traditional subscriptions, WiGL will earn from service providers 10-20% of transaction fees of the software subscription.


Hardware licenses, charging ≥$0.20 for each device containing a WiGL transmitter and  ≥$0.10 for each embedded or external WiGL receiver. The low pricing strategy helps us to get to market quickly and expand our core revenue drivers.


Direct equipment sales that commercialize our products with WiGL technology under “WiGL eNERGY”. Devices will range from $10 to $250.


Trademark licensing integrates WiGL into all wirelessly chargeable products with non-exclusive models. Like our software and hardware approach, the goal is to offer WiGL’s trademark at a very low introductory price to aid in our long-term strategy of name dominance for wireless power naming rights.

While WiGL is still currently in early developmental stages, we have partnered with Guinn Partners to build three exciting new developmental prototypes in support of upcoming Demos for the Air Force:


1. A small WiGL enabled transmitter that plugs into a home or business electrical outlet to create the adhoc network

2. WiGL enabled phone case receivers that recharge your battery on the move

3. WiGL enabled receivers for autonomous robots and drones


WiGL has also partnered with Cubic Mission Performance Solutions to build commercial off the shelf (COTS) networks using Tx and Rx from companies like Energous and others.


WiGL has been selected to advance the technology from government use to commercial applications. Then we will need to methodically gain licenses, create end-user products, and/or form strong partnerships with market leaders, through strategic and successful demonstrations of WiGL on manufacturers’ existing products and increase our sales representatives. This may include acquisition of existing companies to rapidly gain market share


Once we reach the commercial launch, in addition to having  B2B WiGL enabled products and new business acquisitions, we plan to build out our own well-supported and trained representatives to supplement and support partner sales resources in order to gain traction.


How We Are Different


Current and future competitive advantages

WiGL’s primary advantages are its patented wireless charging range, directed energy methods and mesh networking capabilities. Though Energous and Huawei are WiGL’s closest competitors, their single transmitter technologies do not have the long distance range capabilities as does WiGL’s network of multiple-transmitters…with our vision of building near infinite mobility. 


Why not? Because WiGL’s patented networking method locks our competitors out of being able to connect their Tx’s to gain unlimited distances.


Our other patented advantage over existing competitors is our approach to directed energy on those mesh networks, which we designed for military applications. Rather than sending the energy in all directions (omni-directional), WiGL’s approach is focused and directional energy. Meaning, directing and steering focused energy from one Tx or many Tx’s on the network to the IoT device needing power. This patented approach is new, unique and novel.


Lastly, and most important to gain market dominance…WiGL has a cool name


By 2030, we hope the world will have a single name for forms of wireless power–WiGL is on a laser-focused, military-like mission to be that name!

Dr. Ahmad Glover, CEO & Founder:

Dr. Glover is CEO and founder of WiGL, Inc., and inventor of WiGL technology. He has successfully directed and managed large-scale energy transfer programs for the DoD for 30+ years and served as a strategic technical advisor for the Federal Aviation Administration, several municipal governments, and private industry. Dr. Glover served 23 years in the U.S. Air Force, where he led high-tech acquisitions programs overseeing space and special operations programs. 


Brig Gen (ret). Baker – Acting COO and Product Development Lead:

After an Air Force career spanning three decades and six continents, Mr. Baker retired from the US Air Force with the rank of Brigadier General. From his early role as an F-16 Instructor pilot to his most recent position, leading the 12th Air Forces Southern Command where he has been a driving force behind many technology initiatives. He realized the importance of openness to new technology in maintaining the Air Force’s battlefield superiority in the world. Brig. Gen (ret) Baker now leads WiGL’s development of products for DoD and commercial needs, among other roles.


Cherif Chibane, Chief Scientist & Technology Officer:

Mr. Chibane is CTO of WiGL, Inc., and co-inventor of WiGL technology. He is a world-renowned scholar and noted expert with 30+ years of experience in radio frequency energy transfer. Mr. Chibane has successfully executed high-tech programs at Draper Laboratories, MIT, BAE Systems, and AuresTech. Professor Chibane is leading global efforts to make WiGL the standard for far-field wireless power transfer.

In the Running for Another DoD Contract

On Friday May 13th, WiGL was formally notified by the Air Force (AF) that we have been nominated for an additional $20M per year procurement contract.

 

Details are still fuzzy, and there are no guarantees WiGL will win the nomination or follow-on procurement contract, but we are working hard to determine COTS partners. Team WiGL has started to build the work plan to get touchless Wireless Power Transfer (tWPT) WiGL enabled offerings to more and more AF bases.


What a GREAT 2022!

Guinn Partners Update:

WiGL is also happy to report that we have seen more breakthroughs with our partners working to utilize our mesh network and B2B commercial off the shelf (COTS) hardware!

Guinn Partners, is currently partnering with PowerCast to analyze their wireless power hardware on a WiGL-enabled network. Guinn and PowerCast are characterizing various configurations using PowerCast COTS evaluation kits. This networking process is only the beginning, as we work through Milestone testing employing nearly two-dozen PowerCast transmitters. These tests are different from other WiGL-enabled COTS demonstrations and will provide more finite data contributing to further advancements for Adhoc networking.

Milestone A test is ongoing, and we are hopeful that they will be concluded around mid-May/June 2022, leading to an exciting summer full of more updates!

The knowledge that we can absorb from these tests regarding Milestone A will form a critical foundation that WiGL’s ability to power devices on the move using COTS (WiGL-enabled). Together, Guinn, PowerCast and WiGL are working to securely build upon and expand realization of our patented mesh network technologies. Using PowerCast’s FCC approved hardware provide leaps in the right direction and will only lead to more expansive developments for the AF and commercial markets.

Many of you may have seen a recent update from Nimbus about our partnership.

 

WiGL is proud to announce that we have entered a partnership agreement with Nimbus to demonstrate the networking of their light-based Power Relay technology on a grand scale at WiGL’s World Fair 2.0 in support of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). This is an important partnership for both companies to demonstrate wireless power networking capabilities across multiple frequencies…on a stage that incorporates new radio frequency and light spectrum energy technologies for the DoD.

  

WiGL’s patented wireless power networks allow our all forms of wireless tech to partner and deliver the future of 21st century wireless power. WiGL is honored to include Nimbus in our vision of wirelessly interoperable electromagnetic spectrum networks. We also plan to explore and grow both technologies within DoD to create new applications of touchless wireless power (tWPT). The networking of pioneering and emerging wireless power concepts of operation surrounding light-based wireless energy transfer are very exciting for WiGL. Team WiGL travelled to an US Air Force (USAF) Base and met face-to-face with the end user war-fighters to plan how WiGL will meet their very specific needs. And again, we think it was a smashing success!

 

Here’s where we are with the USAF:

 

  1. WiGL has been working on the 1st of 10 contracted deliverables for the 2nd USAF contract
  2. WiGL has requested permission from USAF Public Affairs (PA) Offices to share the name of the base and specifics about the wireless power networking contract (this may time some time; please be patient with us).

  1. WiGL is in negotiations for additional follow-on contract(s); more to follow as we learn more
  2. The WiGL’s World Fair 2.0 (WWF 2.0) has officially started

Wow - What a Month.

 

 

We held our official kickoff meeting with the US Air Force (USAF) and we think it was a smashing success!

 

Here’s where we are with the USAF:

 

  1. WiGL has officially started work on the 2nd USAF contract
  2. We are in negotiations for an additional follow-on or expansion to this contract; more to follow as we learn more
  3. In the next month, the WiGL Team will travel to the Air Force Base (AFB) to start testing on 2 specific application of WiGL for the Base; location to be disclosed later
  4. WiGL has secured a hardware partner and we are in discussions with another
  5. The devices WiGL will recharge are Apple and Samsung mobile devices, used by the USAF

WiGL’s go-to answer is because it only takes one good Startup investment to change your life. Sadly, there isn’t really a good science you can use to pick a winner.

These are five really good reasons to potentially expand your portfolio by investing in startups like WiGL. 

 

Getting in early is always a plus and WiGL is a very early startup. Across StartEngine, there are a number of offerings…like WiGL…that are early enough to join as a very early investor (or maybe 1st round investor).  Likewise, having a wide variety of investments is also a tried-and-true method of growing your equity. Again, this is much more art than science.

 

But even with art, you want diverse groups of investments. Multi-Year Follow-on Department of Defense Contract!

We have been bursting at the seems to share this award. Thanks to your Reg CF investment(s), WiGL was able to compete and win this very important growth milestone. 

 

Because of you, Team WiGL is now off and running to deliver touchless Wireless Power Transfer (tWPT) technology to the US Air Force (USAF).

 

Per the awarded contract…over the next couple years, Team WiGL is delivering: 

  • WiGL enabled software documentation and user manuals;
  • tWPT networking engineering drawings;
  • Long-term network operation and maintenance;
  • Commercialization results (meaning WiGL enabled products that may go on shelves for civilians);
  • Safety hazard analysis when the WiGL enabled network is in partial or total hardware development/delivery.


In addition, Team WiGL is contracted to deliver key WiGL and WiGL-enabled products/licenses. In partnership with Energous, Rickard Consulting Group, Cubic Mission & Performance Solutions, Guinn Partners, INERGY and othersTeam WiGL will provide fully functioning networks, comprising: 

  1. Clean safe tWPT salt water and solar generators that are also wireless transmitter (Tx) enabled. This will also include Tx’s that plug into AC/DC outlets and other devices.
  2. WiGL enabled receiver (Rx) units to plug into mission critical USAF end user devices. Examples of end user devices may include: Android devices, Apple devices and/or other handheld IoT devices. 


In the coming days, Team WiGL will hold official kickoff meetings with stakeholders to finalize "individual products", product-modifications, network specifications and fine-tune delivery dates for the fully functioning WiGL enabled network.


We are honored to finally be able to share this important update and begin to share more details about the whole team and many parts that make up the WiGL network.

 The WiGL team is currently in the planning phase of very specific applications/devices for Demo #4 to meet Department of Defense end user requests.

Q: Is this the same as Energous technology?

A: No – WiGL is currently working with Energous and we consider them a close teammate, even though others may consider them our competitor. Our competi-mates' business models appear to be making and selling a single transmitter (Tx) paired to one or more receivers (Rx) in an engineering developer kit (DevKits) for other companies build or test.

WiGL is currently working with these companies to build commercial -off-the-shelf (COTS) capabilities to fast track Tx-to-Tx-to-Tx-to-Tx "Networks" of touchless Wireless Power Transfer (tWPT). Meaning rather than a single COTS Tx-to-Rx pair that gets you maybe 3-10 ft of distance, WiGL's patented technologies are based on connecting COTS Tx's in an attempt to gain near infinite distance on our tWPT networks. I.e..."want more distance, add another WiGL-enabled Tx".

We also hold patents that make additional advances in how the WPT industry can smartly use and control tWPT Tx's.

WiGL is all about gaining tWPT distance by growing the Wireless electrical Grid of Local Area Networks (it's in the name; "WiGL").

In short, Energous and others have been pioneers to get more and more power/distance from their "single Tx" to the Rx's as part of their DevKits. Whereas WiGL is leveraging advances in all available COTS WPT to build tWPT networks of wireless power....to meet end user needs.

 In WiGL's business model, we build specific applications of tWPT for the military and commercial end-users. We don't currently have nor sell a DevKit.

 

 

Q: What is the effect of wireless electrical transmission on human tissue?

A: The FCC limits public exposure of Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) for devices. For example, Wireless Phones and Devices have a SAR level of 1.6 watts per kilogram (1.6 W/kg).

 WiGL recently published a paper promoting our suggestions for FCC oversight and the future of touchless Wireless Power Transfer (tWPT).

 

Q: How much wattage is WiGL capable of transmitting?

A: WiGL has demonstrated 2.4GHz at 1W. 


Most recently, we purchased and networked some COTS transmitters that put out 3W in the lower band. And one of our competi-mates has a 5W COTS transmitter.

 WiGL's Demo #4 is building a network of COTS (slightly WiGL enabled) and WiGL in-house transmitters tuned to 850-950MHz and 2.4GHz...all at 1W.

Q: When are products expected to hit the shelves?

A: As soon as WiGL is formally files our awarded, funded and executed Department of Defense (DoD) contract with the SEC…we will have a deliverables plan with dates and will be in a better position to answer when Military and Civilian WiGL capabilities will be ready. The proposed applications of WiGL for DoD devices have a direct correlation to commercial devices.

Q: The overview of your invention does not address the most important concerns of wireless energy transmission. Transmitting large amounts of power wirelessly is easy. It is a totally different thing when you claim to power refrigerators and TVs. Nobody wants to live near power towers. Yet you are proposing power transmitters all over the city?

A1. WiGL does NOT claim: "to power refrigerators and TV". WiGL is proposing exactly the opposite. WiGL envisions using refrigerators and TVs (etc) as "transmitters" on the WiGL Network to recharge smaller devices' receivers. Meaning, higher power devices that are plugged into the wall (the AC Grid)... can be repurposed to send/ transmit wireless power to smaller mobile devices. This is similar to how IoT is changing how we now add WiFi to toasters, microwaves, TVs, washers, garage doors, etc (stuff on the Grid). WiGL isn't planning to power large high power devices...we are seeking to leverage grid-connected devices to build the touchless wireless transmitter network(s) of tomorrow.

A2. WiGL isn’t exactly "proposing power transmitters all over the city". WiGL envisions repurposing existing electrical grid infrastructure that already radiates power; how many electrical sources are already in your City (that provide no IoT electrical power value to the end user)? WiGL hopes to marry our growing need for IoT technologies to existing systems on the power grid...by making your city's electrical infrastructure smarter. WiGL wants to make existing products that already radiate energy...more effective/efficient for our 21st century IoT needs.

A3. So far our COTS and in-house demos have not "increased that power by orders of magnitude ... to wirelessly transmit." To date, WiGL and our partners have used 850-950 MHz (radio) or 2.4GHz (WiFi) at 1W. Well within FCC limits for radio/cellphone/WiFi transmissions. Some of our competi-mates who provided the WiGL-enabled COTS transmitters also sell transmitters radiating at 3-5W. Each of these COTS providers has FCC approvals. And there is growing science behind using 5G as the wireless energy source. 

 

Q: From the last round raised, what did the company do with the funds? Are there actual commercial products made that’s not a prototype. I only see the budget prototype of the product, which look a lot like high schoolers made them. 

A1. The funds from the first round were used to move from prototypes to MVPs…and secure revenue generating contracts. Yes, our manufacturing partners and competi-mates have completed “some” of those MVPs and provided the transmitters and receiver products we mentioned in the Reg CF. There is a picture of one new MVP transmitter (product) on the page above. WiGL elected not to share images of the network or newest modifications to the WiGL or WiGL-enabled MVP receivers until we seek additional patents to protect new discoveries.

Many “products” make up a Wireless electrical grid of local area networks (WiGL). Meaning, some of the products used to make that full network are being provided by our competi-mates. And as we’ve shared, some of those products already exist. You or I can order these products online today.

 The prototypes WiGL is demo’ing are truly prototypes. Yes they could look better, but they are not the MVPs. These are simply demo’ing that the tech works!

And at our demos, engineers want to see the internal subsystems and parts. They do not trust a closed pretty container is sending wireless power across the networks we propose…unless they see the boards and wiring for themselves. So sadly, the demo kits are not “Best buy or Walmart” quality.

Publishing in Scientific Reports has been both a gift and a curse. The article helped the engineering community to finally understood what WiGL was doing, but it also explained WiGL to other businesses who wanted to get into the wireless power space. Overnight, the whole far-field industry shifted to talking about “networking”.

 So the images and demos you see on our websites are the older/known prototypes that we are comfortable sharing. Once we complete the network and patent the individual products for DoD (read as stuff from the Reg CF), we will be ready to share those approved images. But we have a responsibility to protect shareholder’s equity and WiGL’s trade secrets from competitors’ … we’re trying not to share too much too soon.
