A Rise in Firearms: How the Security Industry Can Help Prepare for the 'New Normal'
Within seconds of the first shots, our tri-mode sensors and artificial intelligence system relay real time data to the authorities including shot locations, number of shots and type of firearm. Shot locations and times are mapped over a building floor plan, providing law enforcement with critical intel on the movement of the shooter.
By guiding authorities to the shooter’s location and significantly reducing response times, Safe Zone saves lives and makes our communities safer.
THE PROBLEM
THE SOLUTION
Creating safety for our kids at less than $7 per student per year
Safezone gunfire detectors are extremely small at less than 2.5 inches per side, ceiling mounted, and contain three critical sensing technologies (acoustic, shock and muzzle flash). As one of the only providers with cloud based machine learning analysis of this tri-mode sensing capability, Safezone sets a new standard for reliability in indoor gunfire monitoring.
Each detector covers a volume of approximately the typical classroom size (30ft x 30ft x 10ft). Where more expensive competitive solutions often economically force customers to choose a few areas to protect, the Safezone solution is priced to protect your entire facility - from the back door to the front, not just the lobby and executive offices.
Once installed, there is no additional maintenance. The motionless, silent detectors have a single green LED that pulses once per minute to let occupants know the Safezone system is at the ready 24/7/365 to summon law enforcement.
Our Business Model
Designed for low voltage power and wireless communication, the detectors are easily installed by local security or AV dealers. The detectors are stocked in local branches of national distributors like ADI, WESCO and Anixter at ⅓ to 1/10 the cost of competitive systems.
Safe Zone is a Software as a Service (SaaS) business model with a hardware gateway that locks in customers. This is the same strategy as companies like Ring and Nest.
Our Safe Zone certified Dealers resell the Detectors to end users making profit three ways:
THE MARKET
Other available gunshot detection systems are built upon last-century technology developed originally for the military. While they do work, they are complicated, expensive and difficult to maintain. The high cost results in compromised systems with too few detectors to properly protect a space.
According to our research, Safe Zone’s patented technology is disruptive to the industry in many ways:
OUR TRACTION
We have already invested over $3 million over 4 years into the development of the industry's most advanced detector and cloud based AI for accurately and reliably monitoring indoor gunfire at a fraction of competitor costs.
WHY INVEST
Active shooters have been a major issue in our society for decades and continue to grow with no end in sight.
Our technology provides an accessible way to improve our law enforcement response in a faster, safer way to mitigate the damages these events cause.
Our vision provides the safety and confidence of more than a billion detector Safezones over the next 5 years. This breakthrough technology allows accesible gunfire detection and automated RapidSOS alert to 911 for every school, office, store and government building. We all deserve the protection and rapid response to end threats sooner.
With our disruptive technology we project to install more detectors in a single year than all the other indoor gunfire competitors combined, making rapid response to gunfire the standard rather than a luxury only a few mega-corporations can afford.
We have spent years perfecting our technology, and now we are ready to disrupt the multi-billion dollar gunfire detection market, reduce response times, and save lives.
Join us as we embrace the accessible technological solution for automatically detecting active shooter events, responding quickly and helping to build a safer world.

We previously let you know about the Notice of Allowance for our patent #US20210012629A1 "Firearm Discharge Detecting and Semaphoring System and Method". This patent protects our system for guiding building occupants away from danger and to safety during an emergency. That patent has now been issued and we would like to share more about what it is, and why we think it's an incredibly important technology.
Think of the Guiding Light as a traffic signal that is activated during an emergency event. This could be an active shooter, or a fire, or some other incident. The signals are placed above doors and at the intersections of hallways. The system tracks the location of the threat, calculates the shortest path to a "Safe Zone" with a safe margin around the threat, and directs the occupants on that path to safety. This is accomplished through red and green lights on the devices. Red means avoid that direction, green means it is safe. Follow the green lights to safety while avoiding the red. If the occupants are in a room with a green light above the door, them it is safe to exit the room. Once in the hallway, look for the green light and head that way. Simple and easy to understand. If the light above the door is red, look for another exit, or shelter in place.
The idea for Guiding Light first came to us when we were hearing about active shooter drills in schools causing injury to students and teachers. Not to mention the amount of trauma experienced by the students during one of these exercises. We wondered why the exercises needed to be so harsh. Fire drills are executed all the time, the students exit the building in an orderly fashion - no one is injured or traumatized. The "experts" all said those were different and the actions needed during the events were not the same. Active shooters tend to move, and fires are usually localized. We came up with a better way.
Now the training for a fire drill will serve both purposes. Simply teach students to follow the traffic lights - no trauma, less stress, and intuitively simple.
The system is affordable, works with our gunfire detection system, or any existing fire alarm.
At Safe Zone we're saving lives.

We're beginning to see school administrators being held accountable for not taking reasonable precautions before shooting incidents. While these lawsuits may not result in payouts, the cost of defending them runs into the millions.
It's critical that school administrators do everything they can to protect their students. Gunshot detection systems are affordable and save lives. The fact that the systems are readily available places a responsibility on school officials to explore them as an option and install systems where practical. The cost of not doing so is incredibly high.
After more than a year in development, we're proud to announce the imminent release of the third generation of Safe Zone Gunshot Detection Software. This software speeds up just about every aspect of the system's operation - from loading the apps faster, to quicker updates of software in the field, to real0time updates in the user dashboard, to faster communications with stakeholders and emergency responders. In addition to increasing the speed, this version adds more complete API support by including more user definable fields. Relays can now be assigned to a system, area or individual detectors for the ultimate in flexibility.
Safe Zone is improving every day, saving minutes to save lives.
We've launched our new online training site with more and updated content. Our more than 2,000 current installers are logging in to get the latest information on new products, and we anticipate even more new installers getting certified. The new training approach makes installing a Safe Zone system even easier and provides separate training tracks for installers, salespeople, and system administrators.

Yet another article about the ineffectiveness of current efforts to curb school shootings. While we must continue to do all the things mentioned in this article, we also need to be prepared for when these events happen. Safe Zone will alert and inform emergency responders within seconds, enabling them to respond faster, end the threat sooner, get faster treatment for victims, and reduce fatalities. It's an affordable solution for saving lives.

This article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution describes the realities that today's students live with.
Forsyth student: My generation lives in daily fear of a school shooting (ajc.com)
In the article, the author makes the point that these incidents continue to happen. When they do happen, it's incumbent upon everyone to have done everything possible to reduce the loss of life. Safe Zone gunfire detection systems can reduce emergency response times, saving lives.
Like most people, we're really looking forward to putting the last year in the rearview mirror. 2022 is going to be the breakout year for Safe Zone and indications are that January will come out of the gates strong! Multiple new projects are on the horizon, and we will be sharing information about those as we are able to do so.
We want to say thanks to everyone that has enabled us to get here and wish everyone a prosperous new year.
Active shooters are a major concern for schools, businesses and houses of worship. To prepare a response for these incidents, “Active Shooter Training” is conducted, often with less than desirable results. Here are a few examples of training exercises gone wrong:

Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon occurrence.
Safe Zone has a better way.
With the issue of our latest patent, Safe Zone will be introducing Guiding Light. Think of it as a traffic light that activates during an emergency event – active shooters or fires for example. Simple, intuitive traffic lights are provided above doors and at hallway intersections. In the event of an emergency, follow the green lights to safety and away from the threat areas. If the light above a door is green, it’s safe to go through the door, then look for the next green light. If the light above the door is red, do not go through the door. The system will update status as the threat moves. People are moved to “Safe Zones” in the quickest way possible, significantly reducing their risk during these incidents. This is also a benefit to police and firefighters, as the system will lead them directly to the issue.
Guiding light works with Safe Zone’s gunshot detectors and interfaces with all major fire alarm, access control and other systems.
Now, a routine emergency response drill prepares everyone for an emergency incident, eliminating the risk and panic of overly aggressive training.
