More R&D: Fun with the Purple Hellcat

As we continue the R&D on our own proprietary car tracking technology, it's important to ensure the system will not only work well with a wide variety of vehicles, but also be able to deal with minor variations of the same model when used for augmented reality. For example, if the user wants to track and augment their Dodge Challenger, the virtual parts should fit well and look realistic whether the car is a white base-model, or a demon-possessed Purple Hellcat. This gave us an excuse to borrow a.....

Demon-possessed Purple Hellcat

Technically, the color is called "Plum Crazy", but you get the idea.

So... the perfect vehicle tracking system should be able to deal with:

  • Variable lighting conditions
  • Background movements
  • Hard shadows and reflections
  • Variations in vehicle model such as color, aftermarket accessories, etc.

Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes R&D and some other fun projects coming up soon!

Integrating Web AR into FantomView for fun and interactive product overviews.

We've been working on ways to give potential B2B customers an overview of FantomView with a fun and interactive web AR experience. Web AR works right inside a web browser, without the need to download an app. A quick demo will be followed by links to the full-featured app download, free trial, etc.

After they are onboarded, we will give the companies a QR code and a custom badge, and they can use a similar web AR experience for their own customers. The QR code can be on their website or printed on promotional material. When scanned, it opens a webpage on the consumer's device and the badge starts the web AR experience (the badge is a simple location marker disguised as a logo, image, etc.).

It will also be an easy way for people to see some fun and interactive augmented reality content at trade shows and auto shows, right on their phones, without downloading anything.

Here's a quick demo video: 1) scan a QR code. 2) open the web browser. 3) View the AR content.

The next step is to integrate image tracking and plane detection. More on that soon!

$100k Milestone Reached | Major R&D Initiative Announced

Augmented reality depends on the ability to track the location of images and objects in a 3D environment, and most companies building AR applications use off-the-shelf computer vision technologies packaged as an SDK (software development kit) to build their products. Currently, we are integrating an SDK into our own apps and optimizing it for vehicles.

Now, we have taken a major step towards developing our own core technology, designed from the ground up for real-time tracking of cars and motorcycles.

The tracking system will be purpose-built specifically for cars and motorcycles, using the latest advances in computer vision and machine learning. This is a result of insights gained over the past 6 months of designing, building, and testing real-world AR applications on cars and bikes, including our wheel customizer for Dodge Challenger, accessory configurator for Honda Africa Twin, and interior color demo for Chevy Volt.

Advantages:

  • Off-the-shelf computer vision products are generic and meant to work with a wide range of objects and applications. Ours will use the unique features of cars and motorcycles to create a custom solution.
  • A big potential revenue stream from licensing our own development kit. It will be the only tracking solution on the market designed specifically for tracking cars and motorcycles for AR applications. Valuable IP.
  • We will not be dependent on 3rd party licensing, and will have more pricing flexibility / greater profit margins than future competitors.

We believe this new approach will be technologically more robust, efficient, and precise. It will open up many exciting new business opportunities as well. More details will follow as soon as we have submitted the pending patent application.

Thank you for your continued support!

💥 Ryca applies their augmented reality tech to the $378 Billion auto parts industry.

THE FUTURE OF VEHICLE CUSTOMIZATION

"In 2019, the global automotive aftermarket size was valued at USD 378.4 billion. On top of that 93% of auto parts buyers do online research before making a purchase, whether that purchase is made online or in a retail store. "

There is a huge opportunity to bring augmented reality to the automotive industry, and given our experience with applying AR to motorcycles, we believe Ryca Motors is the perfect company to do it. With your help, we can be the first-to-market with a full-featured AR solution for dealerships, retailers, and manufacturers.

Seeing is believing

FantomView will let anyone with a smartphone or tablet instantly customize their car. Parts snap into place like magic. Color and finish options can be configured in real-time. There's no substitute for seeing things in person.

To our current investors: thank you for your support. We have completed our car prototype, launched a new website, and refreshed our campaign page to include auto applications. To future potential investors: please keep in mind that we are building a B2B Software-as-a-Service platform, not simply an app for our current motorcycle customers.

Stay tuned for some cool new projects and a few industry partnership announcements!

With Regulation A+, a non-accredited investor can only invest a maximum of 10% of their annual income or 10% of their net worth per year, whichever is greater. There are no restrictions for accredited investors.

With Regulation Crowdfunding, non-accredited investors with an annual income or net worth less than $124,000, are limited to invest a maximum of 5% of the greater of those two amounts. For those with an annual income and net worth greater than $124,000, he/she is limited to investing 10% of the greater of the two amounts.

At the close of an offering, all investors whose funds have “cleared” by this time will be included in the disbursement. At this time, each investor will receive an email from StartEngine with their Countersigned Subscription Agreement, which will serve as their proof of purchase moving forward.

Please keep in mind that a company can conduct a series of “closes” or withdrawals of funds throughout the duration of the campaign. If you are included in that withdrawal period, you will be emailed your countersigned subscription agreement and proof of purchase immediately following that withdrawal.

StartEngine assists companies in raising capital, and once the offering is closed, we are no longer involved with whether the company chooses to list shares on a secondary market, or what occurs thereafter. Therefore, StartEngine has no control or insight into your investment after the close of the live offering. In addition, we are not permitted to provide financial advice. You may want to contact a financial professional to discuss possible investment outcomes.

For Regulation Crowdfunding, investors are able to cancel their investment at any point throughout the campaign up until 48 hours before the closing of the offering. Note: If the company does a rolling close, they will post an update to their current investors, giving them the opportunity to cancel during this timeframe. If you do not cancel within this 5-day timeframe, your funds will be invested in the company, and you will no longer be able to cancel the investment. If your funds show as ‘Invested’ on your account dashboard, your investment can no longer be canceled.

For Regulation A+, StartEngine allows for a four-hour cancelation period. Once the four-hour window has passed, it is up to each company to set their own cancelation policy. You may find the company’s cancelation policy in the company’s offering circular.

Once your investment is canceled, there is a 10-day clearing period (from the date your investment was submitted). After your funds have cleared the bank, you will receive your refund within 10 business days.

Refunds that are made through ACH payments can take up to 10 business days to clear. Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of the bank, but we will do everything we can to get you your refund as soon as possible. However, every investment needs to go through the clearing process in order to get sent back to the account associated with the investment.

Both Title III (Regulation Crowdfunding) and Title IV (Reg A+) help entrepreneurs crowdfund capital investments from unaccredited and accredited investors. The differences between these regulations are related to the investor limitations, the differing amounts of money companies are permitted to raise, and differing disclosure and filing requirements. To learn more about Regulation Crowdfunding, click here, and for Regulation A+, click here.
