REASONS TO INVEST

Utilizing patented air-roasting technology, Kribi Coffee Air Roastery is able to offer consumers and connoisseurs something new – a cup of coffee that is authentically farm fresh, distinctly flavorful, and uniquely experiential.

Throughout the world, coffee is one of the largest traded commodities. In particular, the global market for specialty coffee is at a five year high with a market share slated to reach over $117.89 billion by 2028.*

With a threefold growth strategy that includes retail shops, wholesale, and eCommerce, we believe Kribi Coffee Air Roastery is moving quickly to corner valuable market share in the coffee industry, while also upholding a global social mission of achieving fair trade collaboration, community outreach, and environmental sustainability.

Fueling Social Change One Cup of Coffee At a Time

Kribi Coffee Air Roastery is on a mission to raise the standard for sustainable coffee roasting. From farm to cup, every step of our company’s process is intentional and designed to empower.

Each cup of our specialty coffee starts with raw green coffee beans, grown by a collective of independent farms in Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya, Indonesia, Colombia, and Costa Rica - some of which are women-owned and operated, with many being organic.

Kribi Coffee utilizes a unique eco-friendly roasting process – known as air roasting (or fluid-bed roasting) – at our retail locations, serving customers the experience of freshly crafted coffee, made to order, and roasted on the spot. Beyond our stores in Chicago, we wholesale our air roasted coffee to other small businesses and coffee shops, providing them an opportunity to expand their offerings, in addition to the direct-to-consumer sales we conduct through our eCommerce storefront.

The Problem

The World is Drinking Stale Coffee

Raw green coffee beans are alchemized into the brown, brewable beans we all know and love during the roasting process. The most common roasting method used worldwide is drum-roasting – a technique that works by tumbling beans continuously in a heated drum until the moisture is removed and the oils contained within are unlocked.

The downside to drum-roasting lies with the outer layer of the coffee bean, the chaff. As the coffee is roasted and this chaff falls off, it remains in the drum with the rest of the beans. This thin byproduct is far more susceptible to heat than the coffee beans themselves, resulting in charring as the drum continues to receive heat and which infuses the coffee with a burnt or bitter taste. (source)

(source)

Because coffee begins to oxidize immediately after roasting, it has a short shelf life and the quality quickly becomes compromised - often even before it arrives at the stores where it's sold. As a result, most consumers have never actually experienced the enjoyment of drinking fresh, clean-roasted coffee.

The Solution

Fresh, Quality Coffee Air-Roasted On-Site and On-Demand

At Kribi Coffee Air Roastery, our coffee beans are sourced globally via our partnerships with local farmers in each region which allow us to implement sustainable agricultural practices, better working conditions, and quality-of-life improvements for these communities. We are seeking to solve the issue of unfair compensation by controlling each step of the supply chain in order to pay our farmers significantly more than large corporations.

We also make all of our coffee using the alternative method of air-roasting, which entails roasting green coffee beans in a heated vortex that carries away the lightweight chaff, eliminating any byproduct that may influence the final product.

All of our coffee is roasted in-house, in small batches, so that customers can witness the process live, enjoy a cup of coffee at peak freshness, and taste the difference for themselves - all within 10 minutes!

The Market

The Coffee Industry Craves Innovation

According to industry reports, the market share for specialty coffee shops is expected to increase by $68B between 2021 and 2026, with an accelerating growth of 13.02% CAGR. While coffee consumption continues to increase, the industry is still lacking methods that personalize production and customize the delivery of specialty coffee.

Kribi Coffee Air Roastery believes that by providing the elevated experience of farm-to-cup fresh coffee, we have tapped into a unique niche within an ever-growing market. Combined with our commitment to supporting social change and sustainability initiatives, we believe we are setting ourselves apart from other coffee companies every day. We’re contributing to the conversations that matter to our customers and ourselves.

Our Traction

Generating a Buzz for Better Coffee

Since launching, Kribi Coffee Air Roastery has been able to successfully grow revenue across multiple avenues. In 2021, we achieved $1.1 million in revenue with zero advertising! Ranked one of the 10 Best Coffee Shops in Chicago by Modern Luxury Magazine, our retail storefront has a strong and loyal customer base. Meanwhile, the wholesale aspect of the business has grown exponentially and is driven largely by enthusiastic word-of-mouth. Currently, 37% of our revenue comes from our wholesale business, which is set to scale rapidly.

Since the beginning, Kribi Coffee has caught the attention of Starbucks Co-Founder Zev Siegl, who currently acts as an advisor and pro-bono mentor to the brand.

Current plans for expansion include opening more storefronts, the completion of a scaled eCommerce site, and development of the brand’s own smartphone app, so that even more consumers can purchase Kribi Coffee products nationwide.

Why Invest

A Bright and Bold Vision for the Future

Having already established ourselves as a strong competitor within the coffee industry, Kribi Coffee Air Roastery is ready to do more and give more. Besides bringing the world a better cup of coffee, our vision is to empower even more farming cooperatives and small growers around the world, with a focus on African communities.

With additional working capital for inventory, sales, marketing, facilities, and technology, we can continue our practices of providing farmers with higher wages and implementing more sustainable coffee production methods. We hope you’ll consider joining our global mission by investing in Kribi Coffee Air Roastery today.

1 month left to invest in Kribi Coffee

Hello, Kribi Coffee Community, 👋

There's only one month left to invest in Kribi Coffee on StartEngine!

The country may face inflation and economic decline, but the coffee business isn't going anywhere. In fact, a report by the National Coffee Association indicates that the specialty coffee market in the United States is growing at an annual rate of 9.2%. The global specialty coffee market is estimated to be worth $30 billion, and is expected to reach $50 billion by 2025.

Like most products, as popularity grows, so does technology and innovation. Kribi Coffee did just that with our patented air-roasting technology, which can offer consumers and connoisseurs a fresh roasted and brewed cup in as little as 7 minutes from the minute they walk in.

With your investment, we aim to continue improving our air-roasting technology and delivering the freshest and most sustainable coffee production methods, while multiplying our profits! We hope you’ll consider joining our global mission by investing in Kribi Coffee Air Roastery today.

Kribi Is Bringing Quality Coffee

Bitter is NOT Better

Kribi is already famous for our unwavering commitment to social justice, but we didn’t forget about flavor. Kribi’s Coffee’s unique air-roasting ensures it isn’t your neighborhood donut shop coffee. We’re dedicated to bringing our loyal customers high-quality, sustainable coffee - made fresh to order!

The Kribi Coffee Game Changer

Good coffee starts with good beans! Traditional drum roasting is not only bad for our planet, but the gas-powered process leaves a bitter taste, as drum roasting burns the coffee bean’s outer layer. As a result of the chaff being removed from the bean during air roasting, there is a significant improvement in taste. Kribi Coffee’s innovation is electric air roasting: this process removes the coffee beans’ outer layer without burning it. Besides the delicious flavor explosion, electric-powered technology is better for our planet!

Invest In A Better Morning Cup of Joe

Kribi Coffee Air Roastery has been crafting and serving fresh, locally roasted coffee. While we continue to expand our offerings and locations, we never stray from our core mission: to provide a sustainable, eco-friendly sourced coffee that you can enjoy anywhere!

Check out our investor page to learn about how you can help coffee lovers from losing their favorite neighborhood gathering place.

Kribi Coffee Webinar Recap

Hello Kribi Coffee Community, ☕

Kribi Coffee Webinar Recap

Kribi Coffee is making a big splash in the gourmet coffee industry: we utilize ethically-sourced green coffee beans, along with a proprietary air-roasting process, and the beans are roasted in-house and on-demand. Watch the full recap of our latest webinar here.

Read on to explore how Kribi Coffee is working together to solve two fundamental problems in the coffee industry. First, there is the problem of poverty in the agricultural sector. The second issue concerns the coffee industry and the process of air-roasting coffee beans.

Crafting A More Caring Cup

Kribi Coffee Air Roastery aims to raise the standard of sustainable coffee roasting. 80% of the 12.5 million farms are operated by small and single-family-owned farms from all across the world. Intense market competition, price volatility, and climatic changes have created havoc for small farmers. We are seeking to solve this problem by working with 600 farmers in Cameroon: By partnering directly with these farmers and paying them slightly more than market value, we believe that we will be able to introduce a much more sustainable method of getting coffee, empowering the farmers so that the process continues in a way that will result in better coffee for years to come.

“The lion's share is in the hands of the roaster.”

As a result of marginalization or inadequate empowerment of farmers, if you examine the value chain of coffee, it's evident that farmers account for only approximately 11% of its total value. By participating in the entire value chain, from supporting the farmers to collaborating with logistics companies to bring green coffee here, we believe we can positively disrupt the current value chain and provide increased value to the farmers.

Roasted To Perfection

Using our patented air roasting technology, we roast every bag of our coffee on demand and deliver it fresh to your doorstep.

Scientific evidence indicates that coffee stales 14 days after it has been roasted. Most coffee companies employ the standard roasting method in large quantities for mass production. Since the coffee becomes oxidized naturally over time, with this process, it is not being consumed at it’s peak freshness. The Kribi Coffee Company uses a technology that revolutionized the way gourmet coffee is produced with its air-roasting process: a combination of small-batch roasting and direct convection heat application to the coffee.

"You need to deploy the roasters so that customers can visualize and taste the coffee." (Zev Siegl, co-founder of Starbucks)

By using crowdfunding, we aim to have five stores in the metropolitan Chicago area. In addition, we plan to expand our retail and wholesale operations. For more information on the details of how Kribi Coffee wants to create a fair playing field for coffee farmers, our air-roasting technology, and our future plans, watch the full webinar video

There is mention of sustainability here which is great - how does carbon fit in to this picture? Are you on a pathway to being carbon netural (such as by purchasing offsets) ? If not, is there a plan to become carbon neutral by a particular date?

Being myself involved in the coffee packaging industry in P.R.C., I find this start-up interesting, but I can't understand the scalability. Regarding sustainability, the issue should be clarified, because a fair traded coffee is not necessarily sustainable. The farming method is the key on sustainability (shade-farming vs open-sun farming). Coffee is indeed a commodity business and skills of roasters are key to guarantee a stable flavor: how are your economics and profitability roadmap? revenue/square feet is also a key indicator and if you will run the roasting in the coffee shop, how will you handle efficiently the logistics?

Francis Erdman, thank you for your question. At this stage, our sustainability effort is defined as follows: 1. Sourcing green coffee directly from farmers, and in the process - assisting them with better farming methods, 2. Using eco-friendly roasting methods that capture and contain roast byproducts. We hope to have formulated a carbon neutral strategic plan by the end of 2023.

At the close of an offering, all investors whose funds have “cleared” by this time will be included in the disbursement. At this time, each investor will receive an email from StartEngine with their Countersigned Subscription Agreement, which will serve as their proof of purchase moving forward.

Please keep in mind that a company can conduct a series of “closes” or withdrawals of funds throughout the duration of the campaign. If you are included in that withdrawal period, you will be emailed your countersigned subscription agreement and proof of purchase immediately following that withdrawal.

StartEngine assists companies in raising capital, and once the offering is closed, we are no longer involved with whether the company chooses to list shares on a secondary market, or what occurs thereafter. Therefore, StartEngine has no control or insight into your investment after the close of the live offering. In addition, we are not permitted to provide financial advice. You may want to contact a financial professional to discuss possible investment outcomes.

For Regulation Crowdfunding, investors are able to cancel their investment at any point throughout the campaign up until 48 hours before the closing of the offering. Note: If the company does a rolling close, they will post an update to their current investors, giving them the opportunity to cancel during this timeframe. If you do not cancel within this 5-day timeframe, your funds will be invested in the company, and you will no longer be able to cancel the investment. If your funds show as ‘Invested’ on your account dashboard, your investment can no longer be canceled.

For Regulation A+, StartEngine allows for a four-hour cancelation period. Once the four-hour window has passed, it is up to each company to set their own cancelation policy. You may find the company’s cancelation policy in the company’s offering circular.

Once your investment is canceled, there is a 10-day clearing period (from the date your investment was submitted). After your funds have cleared the bank, you will receive your refund within 10 business days.

Refunds that are made through ACH payments can take up to 10 business days to clear. Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of the bank, but we will do everything we can to get you your refund as soon as possible. However, every investment needs to go through the clearing process in order to get sent back to the account associated with the investment.

Both Title III (Regulation Crowdfunding) and Title IV (Reg A+) help entrepreneurs crowdfund capital investments from unaccredited and accredited investors. The differences between these regulations are related to the investor limitations, the differing amounts of money companies are permitted to raise, and differing disclosure and filing requirements.
