We not only use ingredients to express creativity, we also use our distillation process to do the same.
Think of how a botanical basket is generally used for vapor infusing gin. We have taken that process and applied it to our ‘Lorenz’ which is mainly a cane-based spirit and infused it with cinnamon sticks and vanilla beans. The process of emulsifying those oils picks up a tremendously delicious flavor - with no sugars.
And when it comes to creating new spirits all together - our ‘Joséphine’ is a perfect example of just that. As the spirit opens, it changes flavor profile, and as the spirit ages, even in bottles, it changes character and deepens in complexity. Joséphine is made from fruits and molasses and rested, but not aged, with toasted oak. This gives it a profile of a lovely brandy but also with spice and smoky notes found in a fine Scotch, and then rounds out with earthy notes and a magnificent mouthfeel.
Then there’s our 30-year-old imported Rene Rye-Magnac – a blend of fine XO French Armagnac and spicy American Rye Whiskey. These two unique profiles come together to form something better – adding to our iconic line of new spirit creations.
Lastly, there’s our top selling product: our ScandaLust Cinnamon Whiskey. Intended for mature audiences, this all natural, unsweetened whiskey has a cinnamon kick that doesn’t leave anyone missing syrupy sweeteners.
Continuing the creative spark - we also prefer to make batch-based products which will vary in flavor batch to batch due to idea improvements, and agriculture. Wine will vary year to year, why should spirits based on crops need to remain identical year to year?
We’ve always known we want to be more than just a company that distills liquor. We want to create an engaged community that fosters awareness for things larger than themselves. Some of the answers have been in previous posts, but the broad answer is that all of them had a significant and positive impact on the world around them, in the face of significant adversity.
René Cassin was a WWI soldier, injured in the, who dedicated himself to human rights, Lorenz Peter Freuchen was a key member and backer for the arctic explorations and a defiant voice against WWII oppressions, and Joséphine Baker was a shatterer of glass ceilings, philanthropist, civil rights activist and WWII hero. Their efforts are what inspire us to do better business, be better people, and be Defiantly Different. David, our head of sales, continues to be hard at work developing interest and making sales locally. As a result, Utah sales have been on the rise, leading to strong sales projections moving forward. By the end of Q1 2023, we expect to double our current Utah sales. These projections are based on actual sales data within Utah of brands in our competitive set. ScandaLust specifically is a spirit that we want to see in 90% of Utah bars and restaurants by next year, with our other spirits following soon after. This growth will be supported by the fact that we have agreed to terms with a premium spirits broker in Utah and expect them to begin selling by December 1st. That will put 15 - 20 sales people on the ground in Utah selling Clear Water Spirits, as well as David. We project Utah sales alone to cover the monthly burn, making national sales and distribution to other states, gravy, as they say.

We are delighted to share an update about our canning line. We are almost set up and ready to begin runs. One of the remaining steps was to get a new chiller for proper carbonation. The first client and product coming off the canning line is Life Cider. Ingredients are arriving now, and we anticipate having this new revenue stream of white-labeling canned drinks as soon as December. We are also in the development stages of releasing our own premium canned RtD spirits in 2023.

We recently had our biggest turnout for our cigar event yet. We had 20 people in attendance having a great time despite the cold weather. People sample 2 Manhattan cocktails, a classic style with Antica Formula Vermouth, Holiday Spice bitters, and our 5 Yr Barrel Strength Rye Whiskey, high proof like it would have been historically. This is a Manhattan very similar to what it would have tasted like in the 1870's. The next Manhattan used Dolin Rouge Vermouth, Cardamom bitters and René RyeMagnac for an absolutely delicious spin on the Manhattan with a bit more sweetness and some floral notes. A surprising twist was when we tried a ScandaLust Manhattan, and all of us were shocked at how amazing ScandaLust Cinnamon Whiskey is with vermouth, crafting an excellent holiday themed drink.
This event took place on the heels of one of our biggest Sundays with record sales exceeding Friday and Saturday combined! We have been seeing Sunday sales increasing steadily and have heard many of our patrons sharing how they found us.

We have a November promotion on the website for free shipping on orders over $50. This is in response to a number of our online orders being for a single ScandaLust. With this promo, we think many people will now order an additional spirit to cross the $50 threshold, which we’ve already seen in the 2 days that it’s been active, by customers adding Lorenz or Vodka to their ScandaLust orders. We’re also seeing people buy an individual Josephine or Rye and qualify for free shipping. Going into the busiest 2 months of the year, this should result in a big November for us online.
In-person distillery sales are already increasing each month, and we anticipate a great holiday sales season at the distillery, especially in tandem with David’s recent local sales push to get more bar and restaurant accounts in the state, thereby increasing local awareness. Our cigar events and other initiatives are also helping too, as mentioned in the previous update.
We are also reaching out to local influencers within Utah to promote Clear Water Distilling spirit at local events and spread the word about our spirits. Look for some new collaborative announcements soon. If you have any suggestions for local influencers that we should approach, please let us know.
We are also working to finalize a contract with a sales broker within Utah that would get many more feet on the ground selling Clear Water Distilling spirits to Utah accounts. Once this takes effect, the number of bars and restaurants carrying our spirits in Utah will soar. We’ll announce this as soon as it’s finalized.

With Regulation A+, a non-accredited investor can only invest a maximum of 10% of their annual income or 10% of their net worth per year, whichever is greater. There are no restrictions for accredited investors.
With Regulation Crowdfunding, non-accredited investors with an annual income or net worth less than $124,000, are limited to invest a maximum of 5% of the greater of those two amounts. For those with an annual income and net worth greater than $124,000, he/she is limited to investing 10% of the greater of the two amounts.
At the close of an offering, all investors whose funds have “cleared” by this time will be included in the disbursement. At this time, each investor will receive an email from StartEngine with their Countersigned Subscription Agreement, which will serve as their proof of purchase moving forward.
Please keep in mind that a company can conduct a series of “closes” or withdrawals of funds throughout the duration of the campaign. If you are included in that withdrawal period, you will be emailed your countersigned subscription agreement and proof of purchase immediately following that withdrawal.

For Regulation Crowdfunding, investors are able to cancel their investment at any point throughout the campaign up until 48 hours before the closing of the offering. Note: If the company does a rolling close, they will post an update to their current investors, giving them the opportunity to cancel during this timeframe. If you do not cancel within this 5-day timeframe, your funds will be invested in the company, and you will no longer be able to cancel the investment. If your funds show as ‘Invested’ on your account dashboard, your investment can no longer be canceled.
For Regulation A+, StartEngine allows for a four-hour cancelation period. Once the four-hour window has passed, it is up to each company to set their own cancelation policy. You may find the company’s cancelation policy in the company’s offering circular.
Once your investment is canceled, there is a 10-day clearing period (from the date your investment was submitted). After your funds have cleared the bank, you will receive your refund within 10 business days.
Refunds that are made through ACH payments can take up to 10 business days to clear. Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of the bank, but we will do everything we can to get you your refund as soon as possible. However, every investment needs to go through the clearing process in order to get sent back to the account associated with the investment.
Both Title III (Regulation Crowdfunding) and Title IV (Reg A+) help entrepreneurs crowdfund capital investments from unaccredited and accredited investors. The differences between these regulations are related to the investor limitations, the differing amounts of money companies are permitted to raise, and differing disclosure and filing requirements.
