Overview

Enabling Frontline Healthcare Workers to Deliver the Best Care Possible

At Elemeno, we are a software company with a human touch. Our mission is to equip our heroes with the information and support they need to deliver safe and high-quality care to every patient, every time.

We enable managers to superpower their teams with custom, point-of-care microlearning and communication, and a virtual coach, all accessible when, where, and how frontline staff needs it most.

The Problem

Medical Staff Are Overwhelmed, Overworked

Healthcare is becoming increasingly complex and best practices are rapidly growing and changing. However, frontline staff cannot keep up. They are overwhelmed, yet they are being asked to do more and more. This is resulting to some of the biggest problems in healthcare today:

  • Staffing crisis: We don't have enough frontline staff; healthcare systems need help to RECRUIT, TRAIN, SUPPORT, and RETAIN.
  • Medical errors: Inadequately trained/supported staff paired with increasingly complicated practices means increasing CARE VARIATION and ERRORS.
  • Costs: lack of access to best practice standards and inconsistency in frontline practices leads to inefficiencies and waste - and that costs $$$.

Sadly, healthcare institutions continue to fall back on traditional team training and communication modalities like binders, fliers, email, and in-person staff meetings. These 20th-century solutions do not work in 21st-century medicine.

The result is staff burnout and care variation—meaning medical errors, waste, and job turnover.

The Solution

Transform Complicated Practices Into Bite-Sized Learning

Elemeno’s mobile-friendly cloud solution delivers “just-in-time” team training and communication, equipping frontline nurses and doctors with custom interactive guidelines, smart checklists and concise how-to videos, on-demand, 24/7. We also provide a dedicated Client Success Manager who ensures ROI and customer satisfaction.

Our service unites:

  • Efficient and effective team communication—keeping staff up to date with constantly changing information while listening to frontline feedback.
  • In-context microlearning—ensuring sustained top of license best practice. We make complicated practices actionable, so staff can actually deliver them.
  • Transparent recognition—supporting teamwork and engagement. Our feedback loop gives frontline staff a voice so that management can proactively address frontline needs before they manifest as patient harm.
  • Insightful analytics – evaluating caregiver behavior and practice effectiveness.
  • Easy customization – allowing clients to support their own specific devices, equipment, supplies and protocols.

The result is consistent high-quality care, meaning greater safety, labor savings, and improved outcomes

The Network Effect

Our sharing network de-silos hospitals, democratizing access to best practices and accelerating knowledge spread across the industry. And we make it easy. No IT needed.

Each department’s content is shared with all others in the same institution, so as each new department joins, everyone has greater benefit. Every client is also able to share practices with managers at peer institutions, so with each new client, our client network has, even more, to share from.

The Market

A Multi-Billion Dollar Market

The US market for clinical staff alone is currently valued at $2 Billion. This includes $1.2 billion in hospitals, $468 million in nursing homes, $372 million in home health, $200 million in clinics, and $187 million in hospice.

*Source

Our revenue system is B2B SaaS with a land and expand model—including an annual subscription and one-time onboarding fee. We start in one department, prove our value, and then work with the happy managers to sell to the rest of the institution.

Our Traction

Growth & Proven Results

We have experienced 300% growth from 2018-2020. We have no churn, with content stickiness, and $1 million ARR. We also have an impressive and growing roster of clients:

We have received awards from East Bay Innovation Awards, NJ Tech Council, Fierce 15, MedTech Breakthrough, and Exponential Medicine. We also have peer-reviewed publications and abstracts in the following journals:

  • American Journal of Medical Quality
  • Pediatric Quality and Safety
  • American College of Medical Quality
  • Connected Health Conference
  • Emergency Medical Journal

Why Invest

Equipping Our Frontline Heroes for Success

We aim to democratize access for healthcare workers across the globe, empowering them to become superheroes. This will radically reduce medical errors and enable every clinician to deliver the best care possible to every life they touch.

GIF

Our success is demonstrated in our $1M+ ARR traction, proven ROI, and key clients.  And through the sharing network effect, every new client increases value for all clients—a virtuous cycle of collaboration.

Our solution has been developed by doctors and nurses who have felt that pain themselves—using that incentive to fuel a successful product.

The WHY Behind Elemeno-- My Sister

Last month I had the honor of being invited to present to the National Patient Safety Board. Given a unique opportunity to share in front of the strongest patient advocacy group in the US the very personal nature of my journey into medicine-- and ultimately Elemeno-- I made the leap to share the story of my younger sister Urmila, who passed away 45 years ago from a medical error. I had held this back from the public out of respect for my parents' privacy. After the meeting, those at the NPSB reached out and appreciated the story. I shared this with my father, who was happy to hear that her memory is still so important to who I am, and that her memory lives on as an inspiration to help thousands of patients receive safer care. I was recently interviewed for a podcast on my journey and Elemeno Health. We are focused on bettering patient safety. We're making an end to medical errors because everyone deserves safe care. Urmila definitely did.

The "One-Stop-Shop" for Team Communication & Learning

Rosanne Hallford is a rising star at Children's Hospital New Orleans (CHNOLA). She was recruited from a major Florida pediatric cardiac program to lead the restructuring of the CHNOLA Cardiac ICU. Recruiting new nurses and retraining old, the Cardiac ICU and the surgical program stepped up quality and outcomes. Rosanne was the first to implement Elemeno at CHNOLA, and Elemeno has since expanded to the entire enterprise. Elemeno "has been a great modality for communication, as well as learning, and overall strategic planning." Rosanne is now Service Line Director of the CHNOLA Heart Program.  Elemeno helps make the lives of those like Roseanne Hallford easier, and the outcomes for their staff and patients so much better :-)

Kathy & Peter Balestreri Investor Spotlight

We have reached $700K! Thank you and welcome to all new investors. You are in great company. Today we would like to share the story of our investors Peter and Kathy Balestreri. Peter is the former Director of Safety and Security and Kathy is the former Executive Director of UCSF Medical Center. Read our Q&A below with Kathy to find out why they invested in Elemeno.

Kathy & Pete Balestreri

Q: What is your experience in the healthcare industry?

A: "I began working at UCSF in the mid-seventies filling a variety of administrative roles and ending my career as Executive Director of Patient Services and Chief of Staff to the CEO. In this last role at USCF, I was responsible for improving our patient experience at all locations, as well as concierge services, urgent referral and international services, executive health services, and fundraising. Working with the CEO and University Development leadership, I helped to raise more than $600M to build UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay which was very rewarding and opened in February 2015.

"In mid-2015, I began a second career as a healthcare consultant working with Academic Medical Centers and community hospitals to establish and improve concierge services, executive health practices, international programs, patient experience initiatives and philanthropic strategic plans. I also serve as a volunteer with a number of nonprofits in San Francisco and a mentor to students with a San Francisco/Oakland based organization providing scholarships for high-school students from low-income families."

Q: Why did you invest in Elemeno?

A: "I was fortunate to get to know Arup and Elemeno during my tenure as UCSF Health Executive Director. I believe in his integrity, professionalism, and his dedication to patient service. For many years, my husband and I have been fortunate enough to rely on the UCSF retirement fund to primarily handle the direction of our investments. We have maintained a philosophy of taking medium risks and have thus far been very fortunate.

"We are now at a point in our lives where we can further our involvement in personal investment opportunities in areas with which we are both familiar and feel impressed and confident in the path forward. Knowing the management team and being familiar with the concept of Elemeno's product and services, we are excited to get involved and invest in this company. As we have personally experienced the product and continue to keep in touch with our former colleagues in healthcare, we firmly believe the Elemeno product will both better serve the healthcare community and be a financially stable and productive investment."

Q: Which other companies or funds have you invested in?

A: "We have primarily invested in the tax-deferred annuity funds managed by the UC system and in personal ventures by friends and colleagues in whom we firmly believe. Our goal is to have a firm belief in the product and the people. Arup and his team exceed these goals."

National Maternal & Neonatal Care Leader Partners with Elemeno to Deliver Best Practices

Today is a big day! We are excited to announce our partnership with the National Perinatal Information Center (NPIC), the leader in maternal perinatal & neonatal analytics! You can read all about our partnership here.

This is the first of several major channel partnerships emerging to multiply our sales. We traditionally sell Elemeno into one hospital at a time, and then expand across departments in each hospital. These channel partnerships help us access many hospitals at one time, by extending the trust relationships already forged between our partner organizations and their members.

And in the spirit of building community and democratizing access to best practices, NPIC will be sharing their practices to all hospitals in the Elemeno community. We are proud to share a joint vision to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes, and bring health equity to all!

Come join us now! We already have over $700,000 in from investors big and small-- hospital execs, doctors, nurses, and patients. We want you, too!

Elemeno Wins JHF International Healthcare Safety Challenge!

We put together our campaign page and then locked it while filing with the SEC. During the interval to campaign launch, we received our latest major recognition!

Elemeno won 1st place in the Jewish Healthcare Foundation 2021 Healthcare Safety Challenge, from a select group of 125 innovations across 15 countries. The Challenge was sponsored by the Jewish Healthcare Foundation which aims to eliminate medical errors. Here's the story

JHF President Dr. Karen Feinstein, a 22 year veteran patient safety advocate, noted, “We need this kind of bold thinking to address the persistent problem of medical error.” The judges especially loved how Elemeno equips frontline staff with the JIT support they need to be their best, and how Elemeno makes it easy to share and spread best practices across hospitals and systems.

Our campaign is starting fast, with nearly $100,000 raised in less than a week. Come join the movement! We want YOU to be on our team!
