Dear Investors and Followers,
As we’ve been echoing for the last several weeks, in order to stay positive and maintain joy, it’s crucial to find silver linings and - dare we say, exploit them! Not only have we survived the economic downturn during this crisis, BōKU is thriving. And we’re confident that we’re going to be a major disruptor in the food industry because of our process and with your support.
Supermarket Produce = Inflated Pricing & Suboptimal Nutrition
The carbon footprint of fresh produce is absurdly high. This is based upon the water, human and other resources required to grow and distribute the food to stores, markets, restaurants and ultimately consumer’s plates. To say nothing of the fuel and pollution from refrigerated ships, trains, planes, trucks and tractors. The paradigm of getting supermarket produce on the shelves equates to a grossly inefficient race against time, that ends up costing consumers and our environment in the end.
You see, the minute produce is harvested (by hand or machine), nutrient density starts to decline as the food quickly begins to spoil. Even despite being raced around the globe in refrigerated containers, the shelf life of most supermarket produce is only a few days. Adding to the waste, any fruit or veggie with even the slightest blemish, is often thrown away. Supermarket chains need to offset these losses by jacking up prices, leaving consumers to pay artificially high costs. Let’s also not forget that most of the soil from which supermarket produce is derived, is either polluted and/or largely devoid of health-sustaining minerals and nutrients.
So, what’s the answer to the perishability problem of the U.S. food supply chain? How can the environmental impact of transporting food be substantially mitigated?
BōKU Organic Superfoods Process: The Future of Food
We believe that in light of the pandemic and related disruption in the food supply chain, there is an amazing opportunity to reinvent the way in which food is processed, distributed and consumed. One day in the near future, consumers can, should and will have access to healthier and more affordable food. And the food won’t have a shelf life of mere days - but rather years! The future of food is already here and BōKU is at the forefront of this new paradigm.
Here’s how we do it!
We harvest superfood ingredients (high-nutrient dense, organic fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, grasses, sprouts, sea vegetables, etc.) only when they are at their ripened peak. Then, the ingredients are gently dried at low temperature and powdered. These powders are then blended according to recipes created by our food scientists and natural formulators. Maximal whole food nutrition with a shelf life that goes from days to years, with very little to no decline in nutritional value. The consumer need only add the water back that we remove in the drying process, shake it and take it! That’s it. Sounds simple and it is!
Invest in A Game Changer That Will Bring Health to Millions
Imagine the millions of metric tons of produce that goes wasted (especially now because of restaurants closing). All that’s needed is drying and powdering superfood ingredients at their peak harvest and some slight tweaks in consumer behavior. Very little food or water would go to waste. This is what maximizing efficiency with optimal nourishment to feed the world looks like.
We see the future of food making both people and our planet healthier and happier. Do people really need to eat three large meals a day? We don’t think so and our growing list of customers worldwide, I’m sure would agree. Optimal health can be obtained through less calories and more nutrients, in organic, powdered form. We call it, “Shake & Take” nutrition. By simply replacing one or two ordinary meals daily, with extraordinary superfoods like BōKU, think of the positive impact for both you and the environment. Not to mention the ability to consciously deliver these foods to people in need, all across the globe.
We can nourish people all over the world with low-perishability superfoods and heal the planet - but we can’t do it alone. With your help, we will grow into a force to be reckoned with, a small-family business that makes an enormous positive difference. Perhaps eventually, multinational corporations will adopt and help popularize our process to help make the world a better place.
