Our founding principle is to create a business that can unite the brewing spirit and vineyard treasures of Baja with consumers of the United States. By doing so, we aim to promote and cultivate Baja and to enrich the lives of the children in local orphanages. 

The Formation of Baja United Group

The co-founders of Baja United Group are Jim Riley, who was previously the founder of Intersect Beverages and Azunia Tequila. Eric Morley currently with Blue C Advertising Agency. Both have over 25 years of senior level marketing and business development experience resulting in driving business growth and profitability.  Jim and Eric have spent many years involved in the myriad of treasures that Baja California and the Valle de Guadalupe have to offer.  



Participating in both surfing and off-road racing events in the region -- like the Baja 1000 -- both Jim and Eric have become intimately associated with the region's various winemakers and breweries, as well as numerous charitable efforts. In particular, both sought to give back to the region by assisting the Valle de Guadalupe's orphanages, such as Rancho El Milagro.

Through their experiences in the region, Jim and Eric see an opportunity to combine their experiences, connections, and passions into one united effort.  With that, the Baja United Group was enthusiastically created.

Monte Xanic - Sauvignon Blanc

Crisp on the nose, highly intense and with notes of tropical fruit (guava, soursop, passionfruit, pineapple and mango), fresh citrus (lime and grapefruit), as well as freshly cut herbs and light orange blossom, this vintage possesses quality and a persistent aroma. 

Monte Xanic - Cabernet Sauvignon

A Bright Road Ahead for Baja United Group

Although wine enthusiasts have come to understand the tremendous promise of Valle de Guadalupe, distribution networks have been slow to catch on. As things currently stand, many of the region's wineries only operate on 'hand-shake' agreements with a few distributors who have limited reach. Baja United Group will change all of that.


As an importer, we specialize not just in mass importation, but also in brand building and distribution. As such, we can do more than merely get the region's products onto store shelves in the United States. We can help Valle de Guadalupe's unique wineries and craft breweries to find excited and interested audiences outside of the region and eventually around the world.

To start, we will be focusing primarily on building an e-commerce outlet for Valle de Guadalupe's wines and beers. We believe starting out in this manner is wise, as it will allow us to constantly adapt the ever-changing inventories and varietals that the region offers.


Simultaneously, we will also be attacking the top 20% on- and off-premise accounts in Southern California. With established relationships already, this will allow us to get Baja United Group's products in front of influencers who can really help to build our brands' exposure.


The various wineries with which we work have stories that are as incredible as the varietals they produce and the passion that went into producing them. I am overwhelmed with gratitude today as I review the lasts weeks crowd funding success. I am appreciative of the many phone calls I have received and the great questions about our project. It all helps to have a better understanding of our goals and why we are involved in the first place. I will continue to give everything I have to make this company a success and create some financial gains for everyone involved.

We just had one of our best weekends in online wine sales. We conducted four different tasting events around Southern California that resulted in 52 bottles of wine sold! The sales total was over $1000 for basically one day. We are also seeing couple smaller orders come through as residual to the events. I just processed a full case of Gran Ricardo at $59 a bottle. As you are aware - we give back up to 8% of our sales to the Corazon de Vida Foundation that supports Baja Orphanages. Once in a while they will have a specific push to garner supplies that are needed during the year. We are committed to helping when we can and reaching out to our community for support. Below is a list of specific items that we need help with. If your are interested in providing one or more of these supplies they can be purchased and sent by you to our office for delivery. In regards to the lunch support, we are looking for a financial donation to pay for lunch. Please feel free to email me direct with questions or willingness to do a little more...

We are conducting a 'Vision Board" workshop for the kids. This will be in Spanish to help them understand opportunities available to them through school and programming. We will have 48 teenagers and 15 adults in attendance. 

  • We need a lunch sponsor. We were thinking pizza and Water bottles. George Perez, from Corazon said there was a pizza place close by where he can order the pizza from.
  • We need a supply sponsor. We need 50 kid scissors, 25 bottles of cement glue, 20 packs of colored markers, 60 large white poster boards.
  • All of the volunteers are collecting magazines to bring. We need as many as we can get. If you have any or can get some from your neighbors save them for me.

The best emails come from the sales teams in the streets!

In the United States we have the three-tier system. That means that we are "suppliers" that sell to a Distributor. The Distributor in turn sells to customers such as bars, restaurants, liquor stores, and grocery stores. Our distributor is Youngs Market Company. They are one of the largest distributors in the USA. We are thrilled to be partnered with them. They have a sales team in the streets that primarily takes orders and ensures distribution of products. On occasion, the sales members at YMCO will present new or old brands that are available in their portfolio. In our case with Baja Wines, they have realized it is a very exciting category right now that deserves some attention. Below is an email I just received about our wine Monte Xanic from one of the upper sales teams members. I love these types of emails - they serve as a reminder of the opportunity we have in this emerging category.

Yesterday I poured Monte Xanic at The Grape Expectations fundraiser for the Long Beach Public Library Foundation. It was my 13th year doing so, and have to say I have never had such a great response from the attendees over a wine. There were five distributors all with 5-10 wines each. I had so many people grab another person bring them over to my table to try Monte Xanic Cab. The excitement over it was outstanding, and everyone said they were going to buy. The Wine Country brought it in (Which is a huge win) and I sent all the customers there. You know there is something special about this category of wines,  and I just wanted you to know of all the positive feedback and the openness of the consumer.
