Traditional Farming Practices Struggle to Accommodate a Growing Worldwide Population

Close to 800 million people worldwide do not have access to fresh food. With an ever-growing global population set to exceed 9 billion people by 2050, supply issues will only get worse if we continue to rely on traditional agricultural practices.

Using our current growing methods, we are struggling to feed 85% of our current populous. Additionally, roughly 80% of the earth's water is used for agricultural irrigation. About 90% of that water is dispersed everywhere but the roots of the plants. By 2030 the earth will be in a projected freshwater deficit of nearly 40%. Growing methods must change in order to feed the global population without a detrimental effect on the environment.

Fortunately, water conservation farming systems and methods are in development around the world. Agricultural technology is an innovative industry eager to find the right solution. However, the majority of the newest available methods are not economically friendly and require a disruptive change to the "farmer business model."

An Affordable and Efficient Vertical Farming Method

The Apex Vertical Farming System offers a new farming method that increases the produce grown in a given footprint while cutting back on water waste.  It is comprised of one reservoir, one water pump, and multiple rows of cylindrical pipes used to flow nutrient-rich water for growing plants. The rows are stacked to reduce overall land, water, and energy usage but are fully accessible for harvesting from the ground. It is also fully scalable to allow farmers to maximize their space and grow anything but trees.

Our system is not only cost-efficient, but also environmentally friendly, space friendly, resource friendly, and functions in a wide spectrum of environments both indoors and outdoors. Our goal is to deliver a transitional piece of equipment as an option to existing farmers, entry farmers, residential customers, and even restaurants, that is easily deployed and shows large returns relatively quickly while still being affordable.

In a 70 square foot area, our system can grow 160 plants.

A Market Seeking Innovative Technology and Strategies

According to Global Market Insights, Inc., the global vertical farming market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 27%, from $2 billion in 2017 to over $13 billion by 2024.

Growth in vertical farming is being driven by low labor costs, the proximity of vertical farms to consumer bases, accessibility to fresh produce, and the lack of pesticide usage.

Our potential customers are farmers, grocery stores, wholesale distribution networks, and residential customers interested in converting their extra yard space into a growing area. The residential market alone is substantial. There are about 50 million people in the US alone who garden either as a hobby or as a source of produce. On a larger scale, the global potential market for the Apex Vertical system is the agribusiness industry reaching up to a $5 trillion.

Our main focuses are standardizing our farming method to create jobs, cultivating healthier eating opportunities, and reducing the carbon footprint. Our community is the world at large, and we see our vertical farming system as a scalable solution to make a difference throughout that community.

A New Solution for the Residential Farming Market

In addition to our commercial solutions, we have also developed a residential product for the home farmer. The A5 Vertical Growing Kit is designed for easy set-up - no glue, no power tools needed, no foundations. Just assemble, fill, and power. The following lists the key features of our residential system:

  • Water control
  • 5 grow channels
  • Timer friendly to save electricity
  • Can be hooked up to solar
  • Can be used indoors and outdoors
  • Can grow up to 45 full-size plants
  • Can grow vine, root, bulb, leafy greens, some bush type plants, and flowers
  • Comes with Net Cups

Selling and Licensing our own Systems

When a customer purchases our system, we will offer installation and support services provided by a roster of experienced construction workers. Once we've determined the system is constructed properly, we will perform a final test to make sure everything is in working order and the customer is satisfied. Alternatively, our clients will be able to license our system and receive technical support and maintenance services. Licensing rights are available for one and two-year terms, with options for renewal. We plan to provide networking services to farmers to help them identify local restaurants, wholesale distribution, and even floral shops to distribute their produce.

We also plan to provide a senior level consultant to assist farmers in the operation and maintenance of the system. It is our goal to help the customer from start to finish, including everything from assessing the proper contract, finding the right construction crews, and troubleshooting any issues that might come up.

Our system works for both root- and vine-based plants

A Well-Tested System Ready to be Scaled

Our system has been tested by our Founder and CEO for over 5 years. Working towards the goal of finding a way to cut down on land, water, energy, labor, and costs, we have developed a system that reduces water usage by 85% both indoors and outdoors and yields 10x as much produce on a given plot of land.

While our business strategy focuses on selling and licensing our systems, we also plan to acquire or lease land and build our own vertical farms and sell produce. We will offer landowners joint venture opportunities where we can establish and maintain farms on the land of others and provide them with profit sharing opportunities.

Since our inception on September 19, 2017, we have devoted all of our efforts to business planning, research and development, product development, general and marketing activities, and raising capital. Accordingly, we are considered to be in the development stage. While we do not have an operating history, we are at an exciting point in our company's development where we believe our vertical farming system is ready for commercialization.

Developing a Dedicated Sales Team

We are eager to hire marketing and sales representatives we can train to sell our vertical farming systems. We seek to grow a team that will be able to execute every aspect of our business model - selling our systems, licensing, and even growing and distributing our own produce.

This new team will also focus on developing the various marketing and sales strategies and sourcing the capital necessary to execute this business plan. With this focus for the team of sales representatives, we believe will be able to reach the farmers, grocery stores, wholesale distributors, and residential customers who would benefit from higher produce yield sales.

The design of our system cuts back on electricity.

Our primary goal for the first year will be to hire new employees and build out land that we own. Immediately, we plan to hire sales representatives and build out our own farms in Delaware and Colorado. Following the success of phase one, we plan to start growing produce indoors, establish a new facility where we can prefabricate our systems, and ramp up our marketing efforts. Then, we will roll out our retail strategy and marketing efforts after which we hope to be selling our vertical farming system and concentrate our efforts on promoting our product and expanding its distribution.

We Offer a More Affordable and Accessible Solution

Currently, there are several vertical, hydroponics companies in the market. Agricultural technology is an innovative industry whose players are eager to find a solution. Most of the new methods out there, however, are expensive and too disruptive to the current way of doing things. We believe our system is logistically affordable while still delivering a competitive harvest. It also offers what we find to be a significant reduction in water and energy usage compared to conventional farming methods.

We believe that the following characteristics provide our system with a strong advantage in this highly competitive industry:

  • Our system allows users to grow both root-based plants and vine plants, while most competing systems do not allow for growth of root-based plants
  • Our system is scalable for both indoor and outdoor use
  • Our system is low-cost compared to competitors
  • Our system can be used for both commercial and residential use

The Team Dedicated to the Community

Our team is dedicated to finding an affordable solution for covering the practical food needs of the world at large. In addition to our focus on affordability, we also aim to help provide healthier food options, cut the carbon footprint, and decrease water usage found in traditional farming methods.

Aside from a commitment to this mission, the team also brings years of experience in computer technology, sales and marketing, carpentry, and welding. After an extensive multi-year testing phase, our team is excited to commercialize our vertical farming proprietary system and make a positive change to commercial and residential farming.

Invest in a New and Responsible Type of Farming

With the funds from this raise, we intend to establish our own farms using our system in Delaware and Colorado. This raise is also key for growing a team of sales representatives who will develop and roll out marketing strategies to get our product in front of potential customers looking to grow plants in all sorts of areas from backyards to large-scale farms, indoors and outdoors.

From providing maintenance services to establishing a networking system to help farmers sell their produce, we will work to set our customers up for success. As sales for our product grow, we hope to see a change in the carbon footprint and water usage across the agricultural industry. It is our goal to help fulfill the food needs of the global community using an efficient and environmentally responsible manner.
